Excellent wine! I have followed this wine for about 8 years, drinking about one bottle per year and now it is clearly starting to mature a bit. Will still keep for years, however. Really complex and intense on the palate, with the high acidity giving it a very fresh expression (although there are some ripe fruit and other tertiary aromas as well). Very long aftertaste with lemon, stones and a hint of salt.

Fresh as could be and absolutely fantastic. In a perfect place, still has the life and sparkle of a young champagne but with great mature tones. As I read the notes, seems like 70% have this experience and 30% are well past prime, and it seems to coordinate with the later bottling (which has a bottle with decorative logo stuck right on) being fresher and the earlier bottling (which has a traditional wine label) being on the decline, FWIW. Mine was a later bottling and the last of four, and if I could buy more I would in a heartbeat.

oh boy...strange experience and I have 5 left. cork crumbled...seems hollow so no rating as this may be a bad bottle. fruit gone...rust colored, thought (after reading recent tasting notes) I may have kept this too long beyond the damaged cork. first glass aired for over 2 hours while sipping. pretty horrible stuff and undrinkable. no fruit, tar, bitter. vacuum pumped and put in fridge to see if it changed. next day...dark purple and fruit returned. I wouldn't say this bottle has improved with 17 years of age...still hot and disjointed. but definitely a different wine (acknowledging this bottle may be damaged). will try another bottle soon...but have hope that with a proper cork these may have life in them.

9/1/19, 9:21 PM - Just drank one a friend brought. One of the best of a lot of good old wines... Not an expert in these but I bet there are some good ones in the rest of your stash.
