Easy-sipping, fairly luscious fruit-driven drop. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. 18 months in oak barrels. Cedar, plums, blackberries on the nose. Ripe cherries and red currants with a touch of coffee on the palate. Soft tannins, elegant finish. Comfortable feeling only Grandma can offer. Nice way to enjoy sunset...

Opaque, black/eggplant-purple. Thinking Debra Messing at the Tony’s 🔥. Decanting for two plus hours (NOTE: 4 hours much better) necessary as 14.9% alcohol overwhelming at opening. Ripe dark blackberries, plums, smokey with a touch of tar softened by vanilla scented perfume. As she continues to breathe, she comes together in a sophisticated ensemble fitting her visual vibrancy. Complicated, bat-shit crazy all over the place persona with a Madonna-like allure and sensuality 💄.Finesse be a lady tonight dancing lightly down the lush carpet of dark cherries, candied fruit punch, strawberry jam and silky, elegant tannins. Stunning with dark chocolate brownies and double-stuff #Oreocookies. Voluptuous drop of Kate Upton on our palates.

2005 #chateaulynchbages Grande Cru Classe en 1855 (5th Growth). Opaque purple. Enticing, mysterious curtain demanding you to lift up the skirt. Aromas of ripe black cherries. Subtle dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla tones. Fairly masculine with a feminine touch. Touch of cedar, Old Spice. Wet forest/Earthy. A lot going on behind door number one ☝️. Light to medium body, sublime, silky, smooth, velvety and soft tannins, sturdy black cherries, black currants and hints of mint and coffee. Elegant on the palate. A medium bodied TKO with formidable girth below the neck and above the belly button 👀 and imposing yet sophisticated attitude reminiscent of Bernadette in The Big Bang Theory.

We stumbled across this 70% Baga, 30% Touriga Nacional at a Portuguese wine tasting. One twirl, sniff ‘n sip was all we needed. Twelve months aging in 50% new and 50% 2 year old French barrels followed by four years in the bottle results in an opaque, flowing purple gown...alluring. Multiple black fruits, a touch of oregano and subtle hints of toasted vanilla and almonds causes a surge in adrenaline that demands an (un)healthy gulp or three. Baga can be a rough, acidic, wet coffee grinds experience on the palate, but not this luvly as the Touriga Nacional smooths the edges resulting in an elegant, full-bodied, black fruit driven lady of indisputable sophistication. Think of the luscious Sophia Loren lounging on your sofa...or... 😇

We cherish our Burgundian and Cali #chardonnay treasures. Yet, we passionately state without reservation that the 2012 Gaja Gaia & Rey may just top the list. Straw on the eye neither inspiring nor off-putting...Sunday school teacher. Fade to next scene: Oooweebaby, we get to the nose. Rich with hints of toast, vanilla, oak, butter, soft talcum powder, violet perfume. Luscious, vivacious. Lingering, loving, thin fingers stroking your nostrils in a seductive manner. You simply do not want the aroma to stop and the flavors to begin...yeah, right 😉! Enthusiastically galloping to scene three: Kapow, Batman, the flavors begin. Full body with concentrated, ripe fruit, balanced by a lively acidity, pear, peach, apple. honey, minerals, smoked ham ( 🤷‍♂️), candied green apples, burnt butter, honey slathered on the tongue and upper palate. Long, never want it to end finish. Ridiculous!!! The aromas engender fears and longings of the Sirens of Greek Mythology while the flavors encourage you never, ever to stop sipping this beyond heavenly nectar of the Chardonnay deity.

2009 Kistler Chardonnay Wine Tasting with Coravin. Three different vineyards.
All room temperature. Whisky, light brownish-amber with a touch of floating sediment. Sultry lady. Fairly oxidised with peach nectar, burnt apples, honey and burnt bread. Alluring, definitely not the gal next door. Sticky, gooey pears, apples, tangy orange and peaches on the palate. Luscious and rich…perhaps only one date, but oooweebaby, one you will not forget!!!

2009 Kistler Chardonnay Wine Tasting with Coravin. Three different vineyards.
All room temperature. Dark amber, honey-yellowish, slightly tan on the eye. Chilin’ on the beach in Rio with those mocha hard bodies. Aromas of slightly oxidised, caramel candy, burnt butter, honey and toasted almonds. Our noses are up the bum of this one like our Beagle enjoying four-legged acquaintances at a dog park. Smooth, subtle nectar of brioche, overripe apples, lemon zest, honey with a peppery sweet and spicy feel. Vivacious to the last drop.

2009 Kistler Chardonnay Wine Tasting with Coravin. Three different vineyards. All room temperature. Light, translucent, yellow, slightly golden, touch of straw. The legs fairly pronounced making us feel like the audience at a hula dance with those Polynesian, subtle yellow/brown hips gyrating. Luvly nose of Corton-Charlemagne, which reminds us of early mornings jogging along Bangkok Klongs as the earthy, burnt brioche, caramel candy, seafood and leathery aromas greet the bustling crowds. Similar to walking through a department store with luvly Barbie Dolls doling out overwhelming drops of the world’s best and worst perfumes. Smooth, subtle peach, orange, apple nectar. Salacious siren calling us to her lair…to which we answer without trepidation.

Oooweebaby, this is one Marvel-like action hero with overwhelming alcohol, berries and cocoa assaulting the olfactory system in a manner similar to the kind words of Ricky Gervais about an "...award for most-ripped junkie". Seriously, no “...masks and capes, and really tight costumes...” could address the initial wham, kapow! Fortunately, we expected such an attack and we planned accordingly by opening the bottle 3+ hours before attempting a sniff 'n sip. Ah, now we arrived in a nice aroma galaxy of subdued alcohol, black and red berries blended with hints of cocoa and mint. Super duper on the nose...equally excellent on the palate with a silky sophistication of Peggy Carter from start to finish...and an powerfully long finish reminiscent of Elektra...killed us. However, we should note this luscious, super hero bombshell has more to show us in the coming decade or so. We are looking forward to popping open a bottle every year to enjoy the marvellous development we expect, nay, demand!!!

Exceptional QPR from the maker of one of Spain's best drops. In particular, a winner at a restaurant in a country with high duties/taxes. Yummy, soft and salacious.

100% Xarel-lo. Dull, greenish-yellow. Nose of subtle, burnt oaky-almond. Perhaps a buttery brioche. Touch of peach on the nose. Elegant, satin, oily, peach nectar on the palate. Fairly long, somewhat nutty finish. Gentle, mysterious, cultured lady who saunters slowly through the ballroom turning heads as she goes.

Call me mellow yellow, baby. Eye - yellow. Nose and palate - mellow. Subdued, soft bubbles. Fairly yeasty. Dry as a baby’s bottom...pre-poop. Blend of Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Parellada with the subtle oomph coming from the X-Grape. Pleasant little lady, who does not wow the party but always receives an invitation to the next one. Yes, that gal ;-).

Bottle 4 of 4 Robert Foley Sip 'n Snack Day. Just when we thought Nirvana had been achieved, we slip into this stunner. Perhaps the culmination of Robert Foley. Pure dark purple red. Opaqueness can be a good thing!!! Nose is perfectly balanced after 7 hours breathing. Wow, wow, wow. Soft, rich, full welcoming of cherries on the nose. Slick, salubrious, soft texture on the palate. A Napa-Bordeaux blend baby ready to sip now and for the near future. She is the "keeper". Introduce to Mom, Dad, friends, etc. Her grace, strong personality, confident stride and elegant engagement will make you the King of Her Court with everyone in attendance wishing they were you. Giver her Grandma's ring...now!!!

Bottle 3 of 4 Robert Foley Sip 'n Snack Day. Full-bloomed purple on the eye. Luvly blend of medium oak, black cherries and raspberries with a subtle touch of almond vanilla. 5+ hours breathing in fat-assed decanter. Again, why the alcohol? Bold, rich, powerful, spicy. Hits on all cylinders. Think FloJo's grace with Serena’s muscularity On my knee asking for, well, whatever I can get. Wow!!! Early onset of unrequited love. Strong, fairly heavy ripe tannins finish. Oh my!!! Simply AWESOME.

Bottle 2 of 4 Robert Foley Sip 'n Snack Day. Dark purplish red with light brownish-rose rim. Attractive. Dark, red berries, a fresh fruit pie, a touch savory, on the nose. A hint of Bronx pepperoni pizza on the nose made me all warm 'n fuzzy. Fully blossomed, dark fruit on the palate. Sweet chocolate. Salacious and bodacious, yet manageable, tannins. Broad shoulders. Balance of acidity and alcohol apparent after 4+ hours breathing in decanter. Long, delicious finish. Definitely can lay down. Luscious fruit. She is the ultra-fun, happy to play, luscious gal with gusto. No point introducing to the family as Dad would be tempted. She fought well against the spicy Thai noodle.

Bottle 1 of 4 Robert Foley Sip 'n Snack Day. 2 hours breathing in the bottle before approachable. Soft, warm, light apple, pear, honey, chocolate sweet nose. Alcohol has subsided on the nose after 2+ hours🙏. Light red rim flows into slightly darker reddish purple. Vanilla, coconut, average acidity, light tannins that only began showing after 3 hours breathing and still a touch of alcohol. Fairly short finish albeit the darker berry fruit and soft vanilla are now showing. A luvly, relatively easy-going gal for an early afternoon, happy sip. She is one of those ladies who does not endanger bachelor life as one happily will seek a similar early afternoon delight next week. Curious how long she will lay down?

Luvly, extremely well-priced bubbly from the 12th generation of winemakers of Giraud. 100% Chardonnay Just enough yeastiness to enjoy the aroma of the wine sightly warm. More than sufficient toasted almond, fruit and acidity to bring this baby home with a nice finish. A winer from A to Z. Entire House produces only 250000 bottles so as some commentators have said it is the best grower champagne no one has ever heard of!!!

We thought the Epistem No. 3 impressed so we tried another drop from Atlan & Artisan. We had to hop, skip and boat across to Mallorca, but well-worth the journey. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Manto Negro, Callet...2 varietals with which we are intimately familiar marrying 2 of which we never heard....pretty cool. Powerful, broad-shouldered, great fruit, nice toasty flavour A winner!!!

Wow! We stumbled on to this luscious blend of Monastrell and Garnacha Tintorera, Syrah while dining at Bruno's. We were looking Spanish, different, yummy and not too terribly expensive as our friends are, well, Olympic-stature sippers. This rockstar nailed it! Hailing from Murcia (Google, please), we were uber-impressed with the dark purple liquid, sophisticated black fruit aromas, powerful palate and fairly long finish. Murcia? Go figga!!! We have requested the restaurant owner to allow us to piggy-back on his next order. Happy lil piggies!

Wow, seriously!? We have rarely (fact check), if ever, have enjoyed a Chenin Blanc due to the aggressive fruitiness and overwhelming acidity of most drops. Perhaps a function of the Chenin Blancs we have tried? We confess a fairly limited sample set.

Anyhow, we enjoyed a peach, honey melon and pineapple fruit blend with subtle hints of almond croissant and coffee-like acidity. Let's call it "Brekkie in a Bottle". Great balance, subtle oak with a vivacious finish. It was jolly good with Thai food as the acidity was sufficient for the spiciness.

Give us more experience with these sort of Chenin Blancs, and we might just find ourselves becoming big fans!!!
