Finally get to a Helianthus that is entering a great drinking window! Everything I've had thus far has been about the stuffing and potential. This wine is finally beginning to strut its stuff. Slow Ox'd for 4 hours and consumed over the next 3 hours. Aromatics are soaring with orange peel and roses. Initially some high toned acid and a touch of sherry but that quickly dissipated. Blackberry and cocoa emerged on the palate. With more time graphite followed by sage. Tannins are soft and the wine glides across your palate with elegance. Finish is long. Great balance and overall structure. Still has plenty of longevity but in a wonderful spot now.

My first go with this vineyard from Myriad and it did not disappoint. Great on PnP. Primary on nose and palate but the fruit has a level of sophistication that sets it apart from its peers. Great expression of Rutherford cabernet. Black cherry, cassis, Raspberry liquor. A hint of savoriness. Round and silky on the palate. Long finish. After an hour or two of air it starts to show some heat on the finish and some astringency. I'll just have to drink faster next time. Looking forward to purchasing more in a few months.

Did a pop and pour and slo Ox for a couple of hours. Not a bad showing initially. Crushed Crayola crayons on the nose. Palate with ripe cherry. Fairly primary still. Alcohol a little noticeable on the finish along with some astringency. Was going to throw it into a decanter but got lazy and impatient. Whipped out the aerator and poured it through. An amazing transformation for sure. Ripe cherry with some tartness in the midpalate for balance along with a menthol note. Tannins are smooth, round. Not heavy at all. Seamless from entry through to an endless finish. I hesitate to bring out the aerator most of the time but will have to give it a go more often.

This wine continued to open up over the course of 4-5 hours but was tasty from pop and pour. No decant. Black Currant and Howell Mountain spice. A savory sweetness with a long finish and fine tannins. Probably my favorite "regular" bottling of cabernet from Outpost since their 2009. Trying to let the True Vineyards gain more bottle age so decided to open this. Certainly not disappointed and wish I had gone deeper on these.

Drank a glass from Coravin over about 1 hour. Wonderful nose of blueberries. Palate showing blackberries and black currants at first. Very primary but not overpowering. Cranberry starts to emerge in the mid palate and finish as it starts to open up. Graphite and wet rock start making its way forward at the end of the glass. Powdery tannins and a medium to long finish keep it well balanced. You can sense the alcohol at first but it starts to integrate well with air. Overall a bit lighter bodied than expected but delivers plenty of flavor. Really an elegant and refined wine.

Slow ox'd for a few hours. On initial pop and pour showing fine grained tannins, black cherry. About 4 hours in the black cherry goes on forever and cocoa powder showing up in the finish. Tannins are smooth and velvety and the wine maintains a sense of elegance and seamlessness. At about 8 hours the fruit shares the stage with graphite and just a hint of burning embers. Long finish and barely noticeable tannins at this point. Lovely wine and awesome way to kick off the New Year.

Popped and poured. Consumed over the course of a couple of hours. Primary for sure but delivered plenty of black cherry from the start. Velvety tannins and great mouthfeel. This has picked up some weight, in a good way, over the past year. A long finish completes the package and really makes this a special wine. Plenty of life left here. If you have multiples and enjoy Sonoma Pinot this is highly recommended now.

Ready upon pop and pour this wine is light crimson with slight bricking. Forest floor on the nose. Palate is black currant with old leather initially. With a couple of hours + starts to lean more towards black cherry and pipe tobacco. Then some tart cherry along with pencil lead. Mostly resolved tannins and lingering finish. Great with standing rib roast and brussel sprouts.

Probably the most amazing nose on a wine I've had for quite a while. Smells like crushed gravel and lavender. Needs about 4 hours of slow ox to open up. Blackberries and menthol through the mid palate. A hint of smoke and worn leather balance it out. A touch of sherry on the finish. It can use at least another 2-3 years to integrate but this will be able to age quite a bit longer. Very enjoyable right now with some air.

Amazing nose from the beginning with pen ink and crushed blueberries. On PNP a bit subdued with blue and black fruits behind round tannins. After 5-6 hours of slow ox this starts to really unwind. Still not a big wine at all but a study in balance and poise. Fruit turns more to black cherry. Hints of oak, menthol, and smoke are well integrated along with graphite. No rough edges whatsoever and a cool touch of acidity gives just the right amount of lift. A seamless wine for sure. Happy New Year!

Slow Ox'd for 5 hours and its already in a great spot. Ripe cherry opens the palate followed by plenty of Howell Mountain spice. Tart backbone of acidity balances it out. Still with plenty of tannin along with orange peel on the long finish. Oak is well integrated. The next day more tannins on display and fruit more subdued. Not as forward as I would have expected given the vintage but showing a lot of balance and finesse and I really like the tannins at this stage. The Howell Mountain spice really takes center stage on this one right now and a great way to officially start the Christmas season. Should have plenty of years ahead of it and looking forward to watching this one develop.

Last time I tasted this was at the vineyard in 2015. Nose was lively and expressive from the beginning. Slo Ox'd initially for about 3 hours and the palate Reminded me of the profile in 2015 but more of a darker cherry profile and cocoa powder along with a fuller mouthfeel. After 7 plus hours it showed much more complexity and revealed the cooler acidic streak in the background showing wet stone with a hint of menthol and graphite. The fruit profile was more ripe cherry at this point. Rather than a linear taste profile shifting from fruit to savory or vice versa, all the flavors seemed to be on display in perfect balance from the front end, midpalate and on the very long finish. A seamless wine and an absolute pleasure to share with my wife on our anniversary. Certainly no rush to open now but if you want a wine to sip and savor this packs plenty of enjoyment now with some air.

This is showing significantly better than even just a few months ago. Slo Ox for 9 hours. Wonderful expressive nose. Black cherry and cassis on the front mixed with nutmeg and cloves as well. A hint of campfire smoke and just a touch of menthol in the mid palate pushes it into the very long finish with dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is round and velvety. Such a great balance between sweet and savory and showing so much complexity and seamless after just a few years of bottle age. After having some 2012 Napa cabs that were underwhelming and overly extracted and sweet it is nice to see how a truly amazing wine can reach such heights and maintain its balance to live up to the hype of the 2012 vintage.

Expressive nose of crushed blueberries. Slow ox'd for 1 hour initially. Ripe blackberry, velvety tannins and round mouthfeel. Hard to resist with just minimal air. After 8 hours more black cherry, cardamom, and menthol. Graphite and cola as well. The tannins less noticeable now and more of an acidic backbone. Truly an amazing wine little air as well as with a longer slo ox.

Slo ox'd for 8-10 hours. Didn't show much before the 8 hour mark but then started to unfold. Iron and Graphite dominates. Not your typical Napa Cab character. With more air dark cherry starts to poke through. Picks up a nice weight and mouthfeel with some drying tannins pushing into the long finish. Still quite young. Primarily used mostly if not all To Kalon fruit source for this vintage if I remember correctly. Should have many years ahead of it but very nice now with a healthy dose of air.

After 3 hours of slo ox this is already singing. My first go with the reserve and no regrets about opening it at this early stage. Ripe blackberry up front followed by blueberry and vanilla push through a full mid palate and very long finish. Some cardamom to balance out the berry flavors. The plush and velvety texture along with a seamless integration of berry and oak influence helps this wine over deliver without being over the top. Plenty of life ahead but if you have multiples doesn't hurt to take a snap shot now.

This wine has come around in the past year. Nose isn't giving up a lot but the palate has opened up quite a bit. Blackberry, pencil shavings and chocolate are readily available from pop n pour. Plush tannins make this very drinkable. Over the next 2 hours shows more black cherry, iron, and then charred tobacco leaf. Full mid palate and a long finish. One of the more memorable 2011 napa cabs.

Slow ox for 8 hours and drank for the next 2 hours. Wonderful perfume on the nose. On the palate ripe cherry on the front end with cocoa powder. With more time showing more ripe raspberry and eventually some of the Howell Mountain spice in the finish. No heat and minimal oak characteristics. Low acid. Tannins are now very soft compared to 2 years ago and the fruit has finally started to really steal the show in a good way. The fruit is bright and rich but feels light in the mouth with a full mid palate and long finish. This is a lovely wine right now and has come a long way since my first taste almost 4 years ago.

From a 375ml. Slow ox for 2-3 hours. Lovely ripe red cherry on the front and turning more black in the mid palate and finish. Hint of smoke and cocoa in the long finish. Soft tannins round out the palate creating a seamless experience. Drinking great now but likely no rush here. Will have to go deeper for the 2013 release.

Incense and blueberries on the nose. Unlike other vintages this seemed to remain fairly unchanged for the first 6-8 hours of slow ox and also showed the best during this time period. Palate is black cherry and dark chocolate. Also a savory profile that really rounds this out. Menthol and a hint of smoke and charred dill. Round and mouthfilling. Full mid palate and very long finish. Wish I had a bunch more.

Fairly tight on pnp. Slow ox'd for 4 hours. Nose of blueberries. Black cherry on the front end and middle. Cola and then graphite show up with more time in the glass. Plush tannins become a bit more round in the mouth and display a touch of astringency with more air. A long finish completes the package. Glad I have more but will seek out another bottle or 2.

Slo ox for 5 hours. Blackberry and cassis on the front end and pushing into the mid palate. Some astringency. After another 1-2 hours more black cherry, dark chocolate, graphite, creamy middle. Long finish and round mouthfeel with fine grained tannins. Much more expansive on the palate and delineation now compared to a year ago. Perfect pre-Father's Day treat.

Needs a bit more air than the 2008. Slow ox'd for 8 hours at first. Initially showing cardamon and spice but over the next 3-4 hours started to open up a bit more. Ripe raspberry on the front. The middle and finish showed the darkest chocolate and a hint of smoke. Lively and intoxicating on the nose from initial opening. Early on day 2 a bit more cherry fruit and later on more savory. Worcesterchire Sauce with a touch of Heinz 57. Looking forward to the 2012's later this year.

On initial pour was very dense with ripe plums. Very primary. A full bodied young Napa Cab on steroids. Slow Ox'd for 3 hours and it started to show more complexity. Ripe cherry became more black cherry with time and lifted by just enough acidity and smoke. Chocolate and soy emerge with more time and a touch of cardamon. Rich and full bodied. Clearly no rush to drink now but I'll probably wait a week to open another. Great QPR. Looking forward to drinking more 2012's but if this is any indicator they won't last.

Initial taste showed green tobacco leaf. Slow ox for 4 hours coaxed out black cherries and cocoa powder. Powerful entry and full midpalate with a very long finish. Very tasty. Touch of smoke and some acidity wrap up the finish with a bit more air along with a hint of creamy butter showing up. Has certainly improved since the last tasting. Still needs some time to integrate all the elements in the finish but wouldn't hesitate to open another soon.

Slo ox for a couple of hours. Initially opened with campfire char on the nose and palate but this faded with more air. Fruit was black cherry and macerated raspberries throughout the midpalate and finish. Just enough vanilla and rounded mouthfeel to create a whole package. Really love where this has gone over the past couple of years. No more candied fruit profile upon opening. Seems to be performing better than the 2008. Looking forward to the 2012s.

Still has some tannins which need to integrate but a very enjoyable wine right now with a little air.

On opening jammy blueberries and plums. I was hoping 8 hours of slo ox would help but the fruit took a backseat to harsh tannins and toasty sweet oak. 2nd day it began to shed some of the bitter tannins. More blackberry and black cherry with charcoal and roasted marshmallow. Certainly needs more bottle time but on day 2 showing glimpses of future greatness.

Intense nose of macerated berries. On pop n pour palate opens with green tea on the front end and brown sugar on the finish. Dense and concentrated. Decanted for 3-6 hours and ripe plums with a hint of smoke show up. Figs and cassis fill out the middle. Chocolate followed by roasted coffee as well as a peppery spice. Long finish. Showing some heat but still goes down quite easily. If this is an off vintage then seriously looking forward to the 12's, 13's.

Right out of the gate bright red fruit, strawberry, ripe cherry. A couple hours slo ox bring out more creamy oak, vanilla, and brown sugar notes. Some gentle hints of smoke and toast. Ripe plum and cola provide great balance to the oak after a couple more hours. A very rich wine right now without noticeable heat or rough edges. Finish is slightly shorter than what I was hoping for but overall a pleasure to drink. Surprisingly very similar to a young version of the 2009 vintage but may be progressing slightly faster along the curve. Hopefully it will still be reminiscent of the 2009 after popping another bottle in 1-2 years.

Pretty tight on pnp. Jammy, showing charred oak and some raisin. It opened up quite a bit after 4 hours of slo ox. Began to show red fruits initially with brown sugar and then more blackberry and reduced balsalmic. Campfire smoke. A couple more hours revealed black tea and some cardamon on the long finish. Soft tannins with full bodied mouthfeel. Wonderful to share on this night. More complex and full bodied compared to the 2007.

King Cab was spot on with the 18 hour slo ox. Jammy and tight on pnp. Intense perfume of fresh plums mingling with cigar box for the first few hours. At 17-18 hrs started to come together with ripe raspberries and reduced balsamic. Some anise as well. Full bodied and rich mid palate with vanilla and creamy oak. All in balance but not for the faint of heart. Cardamon and soy linger on the long finish along with some drying tannins and touch of heat. Over the next 1-2 hrs more black cherry on the front end. Looking forward to seeing where this goes over the next few years if I can wait that long.

The first half of the bottle was decanted for 3-4 hours. Some wet earth and barnyard on the nose initially but this dissipated. Green olive and pepper balanced by a solid amount of black fruits on the palate. Iron and cola. Medium bodied with minimal oak or tannins. A little short on the finish but easy drinking on night one. Second half of the bottle left to slo ox at room temp with cork back in place. Night 2 the wine has transformed with ripe blackberry. Espresso and a solid core of graphite fill the midpalate and long finish. Great body and depth. Looking forward to more of this.

Doing great on pnp right now. Very intense black cherry and cassis. Quite primary but shows alot of depth and quality of fruit. A fair amount of heat and elements of framboise but given the amount of fruit it works well. Full bodied and plush. Freshly baked cherry pie on the nose. For this style of wine it is well made and easy to love. After a couple of hours more vanilla and brown sugar elements. The fruit took a backseat and some acid showed up to play giving it a lighter feel.

Purchased at the winery where they have nice modern architecture and wonderful views. Not to mention a small room with toys for the kids. I don't drink pinot as much but was in the mood for something different to kick off the official snow season here. Pop n pour and drank over 2-3 hours. Fairly reticent on the nose. On the palate crunchy strawberries and some noticeable heat. Initially mild funk on the finish but this changed to brown sugar and then vanilla. Starting to integrate well. No taste of oxidation on day 2 but more heat and oak. Well made wine and should improve for at least a couple of years.

On pnp this is firing on all cylinders. Black cherries and cassis show such purity and depth of fruit on the front end and push on through the mid palate and long finish. Oak and heat are well integrated and all you notice is sheer balance and a very plush texture. After a couple of hours slow ox the alcohol and oak begin to pop out with some astringency as well. Surprised the bottle lasted that long.

On PnP solid wall of intense black cherry and blackberry. Vibrant nose. Into a wide bottom decanter. Acidity a bit sour and the alcohol was prominent. After 2 hours really hit its stride. Fruit settled down and took a back seat. Cocoa powder and espresso moved forward. Vanilla. Soft tannins and slight astringency. Just enough acid to give it lift and still with lively aromatics. Hope my 2009 is aging equally as well. Very nice!

Slo ox for over 4 hours. Quite a bit of oak with butter, vanilla, and wood smoke. Did a double decant for a couple more hours and some blackberry gained a foothold. Also cola, spice, and anise showed in the background. Full bodied with soft mouthfeel. Next day the oak was toned down and in balance with the acidity but the fruit was still subdued. Very enjoyable wine but not for the oak averse right now. Suspect there is potential for much more. Would suggest holding for at least 2-3 years and expect it will show better. If you like a wine with a solid amount of oak then no need to wait.

2nd of 2 bottles given as gifts a few years ago. The cola and cherry from a few years ago is nowhere to be found. Did great as pop n pour. Intense cigar box and cedar. Blackberries underneath but fading. Round and mouthfilling with much more weight than the last bottle as well. After 30 minutes the wine really started to thin out and the alcohol and acid started to pull it apart. Seems like this bottle is a couple of years past its prime. Not scored but if based solely on the 1st 30 minutes an easy 94.

Pop n pour. Pretty tight for the first hour. Black peppercorn with a touch of mint and clipped finish. After 2-3 hours the red fruit showed crunchy strawberries. After 4 hours really opened up with cola and black tea. The red fruit transformed into blue and black fruit. Full bodied but not full throttle. The 15.1% alcohol was nicely integrated. No rough edges and long finish. Saved a glass for day 2 and certainly more mellow but still showing some life. Wish I had more.
