Out of magnum. Lots of cherry, leather, and a balsamic note. Good acidity and opened up as the night went on. This was not bad at all but I expected a little more from this bottle.

Garnet in color with a nose like a bouquet of violets, licorice was prominent with black cherry, black currant, strawberry and red plum notes. The palate started off silky on the attack followed by a savory mid-palate with the licorice notes and darker red and some black fruit coming through . Medium+ acidity, med tannins, med body. I just wanted to sip and explore this wine with the lamb chops I made. I think this still has a few years to reach its potential.

Lots of raspberry, strawberry, herbs, and some stem notes. The palate was red fruit, some mineral notes, with a nice savory acidity. Drank it with king salmon on cedar plank and it was a fantastic match

This wine they shut down at this phase. The nose was was garrigue, black cherry, coffee, plum, anise, red fruits, and a gamely note. The palate was tight but would occasionally show hints of black tea, herbs, and savory red fruit after a 3 hr decant. The acidity was a med+ with med+ tannins and a nice 30+ sec finish. I don’t think I’d have another one for ~5 years.

There is light sediment in the bottle after decanting. The nose smells like black cherry, mineral, forest floor, and cinnamon. The body is medium with cherry, licorice, and an earthy component coming through. The wine finishes medium with med+ acidity.

Started out tight with a mineral/iron nose and just a hint of red fruit. After about 3 hours decanting the nose was red fruits (think raspberry and strawberry), violets, peonies, and earth. The palate has red fruits starts silky and but quickly the acid and tannin make an attack starting with acid from from the tip of tongue and the tannins rising from the bottom of the cheeks.

Nose of cassis, pencil lead, briary fruit, tobacco, gravel and earth (truffle). It has a medium+ body with red and black fruits, forest floor, with medium acidity and tannins and a medium+ finish. This feels like it still has time to evolve but delicious now with lamb loin chops.

The nose has kirsch, herbs de Provence, black raspberry, tobacco, white pepper and a bit of earthiness. The palate was raspberry, licorice, morello cherries, plum. herbs, spice and waffling into some dark fruit. Acidity is medium with tannins in the lower gums. Finish ~ 30 seconds. Had with rack of lamb.

I have had this wine at least 6 times and it seems to keep getting better. Sort of a chameleon as it develops complexity as the years pass.

Oh I love funkiness....great nose of plums, crushed red fruit, charcuterie, brine, and multi-colored peppercorns. The palate has that umami savory notes, black raspberry, tart black plums, and rare meat. Woof! Cayuse doings its thing.
Red
Another amazing bottle of the En Homage with a nose of olive, black and blue fruits with some violetss. The palate is blue fruits finishing with an olive tapenade. The acidity is med+ making excellent choice with food.

This is such a weird wine. Every bottle I have opened has been flat or mediocre at best. The nose has some mild hints of traditional CDNP but the palate was one dimensional. It has been like this for all the bottles that I have opened since the original purchase from Garagiste.
Red
Tasted like old prunes with all gaminess turning into a sweet mess. I think this is way past its prime which is a shame given the vintage.

After the initial taste and smell I let this decant for about 2 hours. Nose of strawberry, cherry, balsamic, earth and dried flowers. The palate has dark berries and a mineral note with med+ acidity. Great stuff with a plate of spaghetti with meat sauce. Drank out of a Zalto Universal.

I love this wine for the QPR. The nose is brimming with dark raspberry fruit, pepper, and mineral notes. The palate continues with the same and a floral type finish. This is easy and delicious.

Round and soft with red fruit that develops finishes with a long fig & licorice note.

This took 3 days before it really started to open and come around. The first two days it was closed but on day 3 the nose opened with red fruit, plums, pepper, and herbs. The acid was good and made it great with food. I felt these could hold for awhile longer to develop.
White
Nice nose of petrol, lemon verbena and pears. The palate had hint of diesel at the front of the tongue and followed by a nice mix of citrus and pear. Acidity medium with a short finish. Drank out of a magnum.

The nose is of earth, cherries, orange peel, and spice. The palate was full of red fruit also a very tiny earth quality and a nice savory note that begged for food. Delicious.

2nd night this wine put on some weight and was almost impossible to resist.

Huge notes of blackberry, smoke, olive brine and earth. The palate has black and red fruits along with a touch of the earthiness and a full month feel. Extremely tasty stuff a great acidity.
Red
Blueberry, chocolate, floral, clove, nutmeg, and a bit of smoke. The palate is blue fruit, chocolate, spice, and decent acidity. Surprising tannin for a merlot. Very enjoyable for a Cali Merlot.

The bottle I had was over the hill. Nose smelled of stewed prune fruit and a little woody. Palate was more of the same and boring.
Red
Light on its feet with a nice nose of red fruit. The palate is savory red fruit with good acidity that works great with food. This has a lot of time to develop and I wish I waited a few more years.
Red
Powerful wine with still quite a bit of tannin. Wall of dark fruit on the palate along with violets, plum and oak notes. This is not quite as big as the Columbia Valley but undoubtedly QC-style. Not quite for me but if you like these style of wines you won’t be disappointed.

Great wine. I was amazed at the beauty of this wine if I had it blind I would have thought this was a top quality bordeaux. Beautiful dark fruit of cassis, plums, blackberry with some dried herb. Great extract without being over the top and enough acidity that made this terrific with food. Top notch from WA state.

Minerally, blood, soy, olives, funk , smoke and dark raspberry. The palate exploded plum, iodine, brine, beef, and more soy. Absolutely delicious stuff as it waxed and waned in the palate and made you think. Amazing on its own but better with a nice short rib.

Wow this has really become great. Nose of cherries, plum, currant spice, and a hint of chocolate. It had a great mouth feel with notes of currant, plum, herb and a spicy finish. The tannins have rounded out and provides acid to go great with food. Not blow your mind type wind but thoroughly enjoyable given the vintage. Yum!

Wow, powerful wine but balanced. The nose had great dark fruit, leather and coffee notes. The palate was full of currant, dark plum and dark berries. The tannins were still present along with the acidity and should easily go another 5 to 8 years. Very nice.

Very modern Nebbiolo which I could have thought was a Cali Cab if I had it blind. Deep dark impenetrable color. Nose of dark fruit, oak and alcohol. Palate was licorice, currants, blackberries and a hot finish. Not my favorite.

A wall of acid and a little bit of olive and minerality. The acid makes the wine really tough to drink even food doesn't help it.

Needed a little bit of time (2 hours) to open but had a nice nose of mineral and dark fruits. The palate was all dark fruits, a little white pepper with a nice bit of acid that made it work great with food. Not the most complex village level wine but nice enough to enjoy a glass or two with dinner.
