This bottle showed even better than the one tasted earlier this year; This had more compelling aromatics, with classic red meat, olive and earth tones; The palate is incredibly elegant, yet with plenty of fruit to balance out the savory tones; Another striking example of how great (and underrated) 2004 Northern Rhones are

Still quite young, but I think this wine shows quite a bit of promise; Fairly aromatic nose of ripe red fruit, pepper and meat, with a fairly full-throttled palate that still needs some time to come together; But doesn't show any overt oak tones and should become even more expressive with more age

Decanted for several hours before dinner; Very pretty, elegant perfumed nose, with ripe red fruits, florals and licorice notes; While there is a touch of modernist polish on the palate, it doesn't really detract from the wine for me; Some tannic bite at the end suggest this has years to go, but impressed at how this showed at a relatively young age

Really drinking quite well right now; The nose is wide open, with savory tones of red fruits, herbs and earthy tones; While the palate is fairly concentrated, the tannins are fairly silky at this point, suggesting this is in a prime drinking window

Incredibly dense and dark despite its age, this was a very intense wine, with rich, concentrated dark fruits, pepper and spice that is still holding quite firm; The touch of alcoholic heat on the back-end detracted from it for me, but still a very interesting wine that should continue to hold

Quite full-bodied and powerful at this current stage but yet in a very nice drinking window; This has tell-tale aromas of bell pepper and herbs, but with great density and concentration of fruit on the palate; This should continue to improve but is quite enjoyable in its current state

Fairly flat and uninspiring, with some full-bodied, slightly creamy notes that did not at all come together with the lower-acid profile

This seemed quite shut down when I first opened it, with some savory elements on the nose/palate, but a palate dominated by acid and structure; This started to open up with some air, but I would recommend holding these for now

I have a fairly cynical view of most Cab Franc grown in California, but this one is actually quite nice; The fruit is elegant on the palate, but it does have some underpinnings of green herbs and earth, even if it's secondary to the lush fruit; Probably wouldn't have guessed this was Cab Franc blind, but it's quite tasty nonetheless

Definitely on the riper end of the spectrum, this has a fairly full-bodied palate of stone fruit and brioche notes, although there is some ample acidity to balance it all out; Could use a few more years to round into shape, but still enjoyable now

This has a beautiful nose of black cherry, pepper and some meaty tones, although the palate is still somewhat brooding, with a lot of acidity that may calm down with more age if the fruit can continue to hold up; Still very enjoyable

This appears to be starting to fade, although does still have some remnants of Cabernet character, with some pleasant dark fruits, spice and earth tones; But a bitter, astringent streak mars the finish

While this is still years away from its prime, it's drinking quite well right now at this early stage; The nose is slightly muted but does emerge with some air to reveal bright red fruit and floral tones; The palate is very red-fruited, with a lot of elegance despite the warmer vintage; There are some sneaky tannins on the back-end that suggest this will improve with more years in the bottle

This was popped and poured immediately; This is in remarkably good shape considering its age; The nose on it is quite compelling, with classic aromatics of herbs, earth and leather; The fruit on the palate has thinned out some and given way to more tertiary aged notes; Likely past its prime, but still a very interesting drink

Still a baby, but this was showing very well after being open for several hours; The nose is already aromatic with herbal, floral and earthy notes; The palate is densely packed and saturated with dark fruits, black pepper and a touch of olive, with an impressively long finish; Should evolve very nicely in bottle but is quite enjoyable with extended air

This is some serious Albarino that has a lot more heft and complexity than is typical for the region; A concentrated core of stone fruits, tropical fruits and floral notes, with an intense saline minerality on the finish; Likely will become even more interesting with a few years in bottle

The nose is already fairly expressive, with tones of florals, damp earth and ripe red fruits; The medium-bodied palate has some stern structure underlying the red fruits and touch of oak spice, suggesting this has additional upside with additional bottle time; An interesting and unique Baga that is still quite youthful and likely needs some time to settle

The warmer vintage here is evident, with a fairly plush palate of red cherries, strawberry and some floral tones, all with slightly chewy tannins and solid balancing acidity; Should continue to develop for 5-10 years, although certainly is enjoyable right now with some air

Really delicious Oregon chardonnay; While this certainly has some weight and ripeness to it, the mid-palate is very well balanced by acids and a mineral streak that give this complexity even in its youthful state

A fairly forward pinot, although maintains a sense of elegance true to Cameron's style; A concentrated core of darker fruits, with a hint of baking spices and earthiness that give it some added complexity; Continues to open up after a few hours of air, which is recommended at this early stage

An absolute beast of a wine that hasn't come out of its shell yet, but still offers loads of potential; The nose on this is still somewhat muted, whereas the palate is packed with dark fruit, baking spices and a touch of vanilla, with a very firm tannic spine underlying it; This should be even better in another 5-10 years and would recommend a 3-5 hour decant if you drink now

Served blind; Most of the group thought this was an aged southern rhone, given this still hasn't developed as many savory, meaty tones as one might expect, although those do emerge with more air; Very elegant, with a beautiful nose of spicy red fruits, earth and leather; Not sure this improves appreciably from here, but drinking in a very nice spot

Served blind; Most of the blind guesses on this one centered around New World grenache, which made sense as there's a concentrated core of sweet cherries, berries and baking spices; The tannins on the back-end are still fairly firm, suggesting this still has years to go where it could develop more tertiary notes and complexity

On the nose and palate, there are distinct salt and sea spray notes that intermingle with bright citrus and stone fruit flavors; The lees aging gives the palate some textural roundness, with very brisk acidity on the finish; This screams for some shellfish to pair with it; Very interesting wine that is a great choice to drink in the summer

Pretty classic Meursault; This is fairly reductive, even after opening it 3-4 hours before drinking, although there is a nice roundness and richness to the palate; Still drinking quite young, but should have a bright future

Still drinking quite well for a nearly 20-year old St Joe; Spicy red fruits and some savory hints of pepper and charred meat; The upfront fruit on the palate still has a bit of a glossy veneer in the Guigal style, although age has certainly toned it down; The fruit does fade somewhat on the mid-palate, suggesting this is likely slightly past its peak

Really pretty, classic Northern Rhone aromatics from the start -- black pepper and a touch of olive, with a touch of brett as well that didn't really detract; The palate is fairly elegant for Hermitage, with smoky red and dark fruits, although the finish was a bit clipped and astringent; A solid value Hermitage, although certainly not up to par with certain other producers

A pleasant, enjoyable CdP even if not the most complex; Fairly rich palate, with dark fruits, some earth and herbal tones; A fairly clean expression of CdP that checks all the right boxes, even if it lacks an extra gear to truly make it great

Consistently delivers for the price; This version is quite reductive on the nose, with a pretty core of stone fruit and light oak tones, with plenty of acidity on the finish that likely will become better integrated with a bit more time in bottle

Nothing discernibly flawed about this bottle, although it seems rather tired and on its last legs; Some pretty aromatics of pepper, grilled meats and olives, with some fleshy fruit on the palate that thins out quite a bit on the finish; I would drink these up if you have them

Delivers exactly what I want in a young Northern rhone; Bright, juicy red fruits and a touch of olive and floral notes; Held up well over the course of 3 days, although seems to lack the structure to be a long-term ager

Bought this on a whim, having never heard of the producer, and was happily surprised; Classic aromas of leather, olives and grilled meats, with a fairly plush and juicy palate that was open for business; Doesn't have the complexity of higher-end bottlings, but really over-delivers for the price

This has fleshed out since last time I tried it, with the palate rounding into form, with citrus, chalk and some slightly oxidative tones; This still veers toward the acidic and lean side of the spectrum, but I found it to be more balanced this time around

When first opened, this was heavier on the primary fruit than on the savory tones, with a juicy, fairly ripe palate of red and dark fruits; I tried this the next day, and the wine had opened up to reveal more meat and pepper notes to complement the forward fruit; Definitely in need of more time, but continues to be one of the best values in Northern Rhone syrah

A well-made wine, although the palate does veer slightly too much toward the sweet end of the spectrum for my palate; Blackberry, chocolate and some creamy oak make up the palate, although in general the oak treatment and extraction is not overdone; I'm doubtful this will improve with time, although perhaps the oak will integrate with a few more years

This is a very dense and powerful wine, with a concentrated core of dark cherries, cassis and some bell pepper tones that I often see in Togni bottles; Doesn't have the structure of some of the more critically-acclaimed vintages, but I think this should continue to hold for years to come

Drinking very nicely at the moment even if it still lacks that extra gear; Pale straw color, with nice freshness to the palate of stone fruits, lemon zest and some gentle oak; This likely needs a few more years to really enter the zone, although drinks well right now with a few hours of air

This is still very primary right now, although the nose is quite inviting with tones of cherries, florals and olive; The palate is all about primary fruit right now and hasn't developed many olive/pepper/meat tones that I crave in Cote Rotie, but I'm confident those will emerge with another 5-10 years in bottle

Popped and slow-oxed for about an hour; A very promising young Burgundy, with a fairly concentrated palate of tart cherries, baking spices and a touch of earth, all on an elegant frame; Still in its infancy, I would imagine this would develop more complexity with another 5+ years of aging

A real treat to taste an aged Oregon pinot that is still holding up, albeit near the end of its life; This is quite tasty as a pop-and-pour, with some aged aromatics of earth and black tea, with plenty of fruit on the palate particularly in the first hour this was open; After a couple hours, the fruit starts to recede, suggesting this should be consumed in the very near-term
