Rich golden color with a tinge of green. Lemon, orange rind and a hint of sea spray on the nose. Lemon and still crisp acidity on the palate, this Chardonnay still has time to continue evolving. So I will wait 9-12 mos before opening my last bottle.

Beautiful, rich cherry, floral and spice aromas. Rich, complexly layered red fruit flavors with a long, savoury finish. This wine is still evolving and will get better so I'll wait a year or two before opening the next bottle.

Color: Rich ruby red.
Aroma: Cherry, rhubarb & slight forest floor.
Taste: Nicely tart cherry and crisp acidity with a medium/long finish.
This wine has a lot going for it and will last much longer in the bottle; based on what I wrote 5 years ago in my Dec 2009 tasting notes the last time I opened a bottle the wine has matured very nicely and still has lots of life remaining. No need to be in any hurry if you are fortunate enough th have this in your cellar.

At 10 years of age this wine is still fresh and lively on the palette with vibrant, dark red cherry, accented with baking spices the dominant flavors. But the alcohol still overshadows the finish just a bit too much.

Bright deep red color. Red berries, spice, floral notes and a hint of licorice on the nose. Black cherry, exotic spice, cola and an earthy mouth-feel on the palate with a medium-long finish. Now is the right time to enjoy this if it's in your cellar

This week a group of 11 Italian wine lovers and collectors met for dinner to share several Barolo's and Brunello's over a nice Italian dinner at a local Italian restaurant. All about floral and cherry notes on the nose, this wine is so beautifully balanced and complex on the palate with an extraordinary long finish - even at this relatively young age for a Brunello. This was the favorite wine of the evening for most in our group. Bellisimo!

Very much like last year's note except a bit more subdued fruit and a slightly heavier body with the added age. Still an excellent Valentine's Day treat.

COLOR: Ruby red
NOSE: Rose, Cherry and Cinnamon
TASTE: Fresh vibrant cherry, and cola
FINISH: Refreshingly crisp acidity with a lingering, nicely semi-bitter mouth feel and a very nice, long finish that goes on and on.
OVERALL: Sad that this is my last bottle of this vintage that clearly has a long time left to be enjoyed!

Rich dark red. Aromas of strawberry, incense, and a little barnyard. Flavors of red berry, spice and tangerine on the smooth and crisply acidic finish. A very nice mature Sonoma Pinot Noir that has the structure to go longer.

Decanted for 2 hours and consumed over the course of several hours with other mature wines; this Lynch-Bages seemed to transform itself into a different wine every 30-40 minutes each time we returned to it. Color was deep and rich with no hint of oxidation. The first visit was disappointing with herbal green peppers dominating both the aroma and taste. After 30 minutes more the green pepper was completely gone and it was a completely different wine; aroma and taste were all about layer after layer of rich mature red fruit. Another 30 to 40 minutes and it evolved further; all about earthiness with some leather and cedar. By the final visit in another 30-40 minute it was yet a different wine, all about earthy, charcoal smokiness. Quite a lot going on in this bottle and a very wild ride over the course of several hours - more so than I have ever before experienced in one bottle of wine.

OVERALL: Great musty dry tannins for a nice medium long finish. Very nice mouth feel and drinking very nicely. My guess is this is at it's peak now. Opened at a #WW party alongside 07 Sea Smoke Botella, 07 Archery Summit Red Hills and 08 Lynmar Hawk Hills. All were very nice but this Hanson was the top hit of the party.

Nose: Mint, licorice, citrus, chalk, lees and spice in layers
Mouth: Soft tangerine, mouth coating glycerin, chalky minerality and crisp acidity very well balanced
Overall: Great structure, purity and delineation. Drink now if you must but this will certainly reward another 3 or so years of patience, and has the structure to go on for another 15 years. This was introduced to me by Olivier Daubresse of Vinifrance Imports - thank you Olivier!

Deep dark purple. Nose of cedar, spice and brambles. Blueberry and blackberry on the palate with hints of cassis and firm but elegant tannins that finish beautifully long. Complex and layered. Drinking GREAT now but it has the structure to age well for years to come - glad I have 3 more in the cellar to try over the next 6 to 9 yrs.

Apples & lemon nose. Caramelized apples & pears on the palette with lemon & leezy cheesy overtones. Closes with crystal clear acidity that lingers nice and long. This wine spent 10 years on the lees and was just disgorged in November 2011 - what a very special treat for Valentines Day! Schramsberg will release magnums and double magnums later this year so watch out for that - I will be watching....

A nice wine but disappointing for what we expected - perhaps it was just this bottle which was bought as part of a bulk sale from a personal cellar being sold off - the cork came out very easily and was fairly saturated over it's whole length - though the bottle had a high neck fill.
