Four fossil-rich parcels near the Brochon border planted in 1919. Old vines, many nearing 90 years of age. The name "Ostrea" refers to the oyster shells found in and around these parcels.
Austere, structured, very Gevrey, only starting to open. Very elegant.

Drunk side by side with their Petits Vougeot.
Beautiful and extremely elegant NSG. Red fruits, just earthy enough but refined. Drinking extremely well. Hard to tell this was 2011.

Compared to the previous bottle last June, this was tighter and little less green. Elegant red fruit and nice acidity.

Roncieres is very steep vineyard with gravels. According to Jasper Morris, this always shows some ripe, almost cooked fruit with a Mediterranean touch (garrigue).
This was a perfect example of this description! Started quite stewy. Put it in a decanter and while it got way better, it kept that extravagant southern profile. While this is not my favorite vineyard in the Chevillon lineup, this is definitely interesting and showing this particular terroir.

Not sure if that was that particular bottle but this was lacking precision and focus. Mid-palate and finish was all over the place. On the lighter side, floral and dark fruit.

Classic Pegau with the right amount of brett. Fresh and balanced, garrigue, inky and mix of red and dark fruits.
Really nice.

A little disappointing. I’m a big fan of this producer but this was maybe in an akward phase. Very tannic, a little disjointed and showing some heat. Not much of the Volnay elegance and Armand sapidity you would expect.

Very very very tight. Maybe it’s that particular bottle and the weather but I was surprised by it.
The nose is intoxicating, beautiful classic northern Syrah. Violet, smoke, meaty.
Palate is shut down, starts to open up after 5h in decanter. Lots of structure, elegant fruit (mix of red and blue) with tannins getting softer with air.
Needs more time!

June 2, 2019 - Stunning NSG. Superb elegance and purity of fruit. Forgot a little bit in the bottle and a full week later this was still singing!

Bright dark cherry with leather and earthy notes. Polished, in a good way.
Really good

Just in a very good place. A little more grip than usual for fourrier and you can taste stems a little more (yes I know Fourrier destems but this was stemmy!!) but just a beautiful Gevrey with sappy fruit.

Some heat. Had to keep it a little cool because both nose and palate were showing too much heat.
Otherwise, approchable, showing more structure and body I would have thought for the vintage.

Mineral and elegant fruit. Very much in the Trapet style, restrained and subtle.
Needed a little time but in a very good spot right now.

Definitely not my favorite vintage. Wine is a little four square, angular and tough. No over ripeness despite the hot vintage but it just doesn’t seem together. Many bottles tasted and all quite similar results.

Really nice and dangerously easy to drink. Upon opening, was a touch soft with a very very light hint of baked apple. Then, really blossomed, very liberal with great acidity and a lot of candied lemon. Great wine.

Started a little stewed but after 20mn really opened up and showed its true character. There’s always a Burgundian side to this cuvée but this vintage showed riper and darker than usual. Still absolutely delicious and complex. Loved it. Drink now.

Absolutely beautiful wine. Focused and no deviation despite no SO2.

Nice nose. Smoky and meaty. Mint appears with time. Definitely some oak notes, still after all this time.
High acidity, a little thin at first. Blue fruits.
Even though palate becomes more harmonious and fuller with time, this shows the limit of the vintage and what this wine can achieve.

Started a little funky and then became more focused.
Balanced, a little on the lighter side, classic cab franc with no hint of bell pepper notes with a touch of rusticity.
Tobacco, leafy, dark fruits with nice acidity.
Definitely ready to drink and I don't see it improving over time.

14% and you can feel it. Earthy, floral and ripe blue/dark fruit.
Taste more like a carbonic Grenache than gamay.
First nose was very Pinot like but it went downhill afterwards.
Just too ripe.

Have friends tasting it blind and it was great to hear them think of Burgundy.
This vintage, although powerful, is so elegant and perfumed for Montcalmes. Red fruits, floral, mineral and spicy. Soft tannins, leather. Just the perfect balance.
LOVE IT !

Wonderful Pommard. Very structured, sophisticated tannins, gently touch of oak with mineral notes and quite sappy. Ripe but firm at the same time, it shows nice depth. Smooth. Might benefit of 3-4 more years. Really good.

Outstanding ! From a very ripe year where Pierre told me this was the earliest harvest date (even earlier than 2003), this shows a tremendous balance with great acidity, extreme focus and nice minerality. What a vibrant Meursault.
