2 hour decant. Chewy wine. Mocha and coffee nose. I would not have guessed Nebbiolo blind.

Olive tapenade, blood, tobacco – subtle and integrated with a weightless, airy mouth feel. Superb!

Peaches and acid. Subtle. Surprisingly little body, light on the palate.

Not a precise wine, but not clumsy either - upside enjoyment relative to expectations.

Rose potpourri nose, hint of menthol on the finish. Lighter and elegant with finesse. I find older Borgogno’s to be more off than on, uninspiring - but not this bottle, definitely ON.

Lifted, airy and refined, feminine (from magnum).

Spot on stylistically, but a bit short on complexity. Very enjoyable, but fails to hit the high notes that old Barolo is capable of.

This is really good! See 7/1/2013 note... I don't think there's any rush to drink.

Light body with off-the-grid flavor profile. A perfect wine to serve with a slight chill on summer night at the Hollywood Bowl.

Smelling and drinking rose potpourri. A subtle, delicate wine, light and weightless. Not a long finish but nonetheless delicious. I really enjoyed this.

On the palate, a little rustic, boxy, unrefined. Dusty tannins. Aromatics much better.

Clean and precise flavors, lemon-rind. Unctuous mouth feel. This was not nutty. Really delicious.

Second of the two bottles purchased, see note from bottle #1 below (8/23/2013). Second bottle not too different - both were funky, herbaceous, barnyard and less than what I had hoped for.

Beautiful! Only fault - a little too delicate/light, finish a bit short. (delicacy of the queen, Barbaresco coming though). The fragrance and flavors are spot-on old Nebbiolo, rose peddles and truffles (not much tar in this bottle). Clean and integrated flavors with fully resolved tannins. Had this wine been in a flight with older Barolo, I think it would have been overshadow as a result of its subtleness, but I would not overlook this wine, paired with proper food (light) it’s a pleasure to drink.

Darker burgundy in color. Sous bois, dried raspberries, dried rose petals, potpourri and slightly musty on the nose; fully tertiary and evolved. Beautiful to smell with a hauntingly complex fragrance. All tertiary flavors on the palate, smooth tannins, delicate. The wine’s body was light, lacked mid-palate spring, some weight. I would have expected and liked slightly more heft in a Richebourg. All in all, a beautiful wine.

Wine dominated by high acidity. Not enough fruit to balance. I tend to like leaner higher acid wines, but this one didn’t come together.

This wine is super! Very savory, I didn’t pickup any degree of “sweet” on the nose or palate. Great texture, round but not heavy. Complex, interesting, keeps you coming back for another taste. I would put this right up there with Rougeard’s Brézé, (it may be better), will need to try side-by-side.

A nice wine, but “flat”, lacking vibrancy without the extra dimension of complexity that some older white wines can achieve. This was my fist '95 Vinothek, and I need to revisit down the road; just didn’t get it.

This bottle was spot-on delicious! Pale yellow, crystal clear. Fresh and vibrant with a little cheese rind on the finish. I was not expecting much having poor experiences with 2000 Fevre Bougros but a nice surprise - a wonderful bottle.

Double decanted 6 hours, moderate sediment. Dark ruby, good structure - firm and holding up well for 50+ years. A wonderful old Barolo, not breathtaking or profound but thoroughly enjoyable.

Double decanted at 11am for 7pm dinner, moderate sediment. Bright ruby color, if served blind, would not have guessed ’64 from color. Wonderful bouquet of older Barolo, black fruit, tar, and rose petals – very fragrant aromas, leaping out of the glass. A purity of flavors on the palate, the fruit still present but with old-wine flavors intermixed; a concentration of flavors that seem remarkably to have many years of exceptional life ahead of them. A velvet but firm mouth feel, tannins supporting a smooth velvet texture that gives the wine a firm mid-palate, the wine gives the impression of roundness in the mouth. Most surprising is the presence of fruit that seems remarkably fresh for a wine of this age.

Light in color and weight, old-wine aromatics and interesting flavors on the palate, keeps you coming back for another sip. Not a blockbuster, but complex and nuanced enough to make this a surprisingly good bottle.

Decanted for 3hrs – lighter in color, translucent. Red fruit still present with mature old wine flavors adding definition, lively acidity on the palate. An excellent old Barolo, but not profound. Had side-by-side with ’71 Conterno, which was better.

Decanted for 1.5 hrs. Darker garnet color, showed some earthier tones on the nose, but ultimately dominated by wood aromas that poked out. Flavors were muted on the palate, clumsy - no real signature Chambolle prettiness present.

Forest floor, hoisin/soy sauce, leather on the nose – on the funky side. Well structured, mature flavors on the palate. Better tasting than smelling. Good, but not special.

No premox here!!! Pale light golden color. Delicate aromas of white flowers with faint stone fruit and wet stone. Light and airy on the palate, very smooth texture with wonderful flavors of white peach and mineral stone.

I’ve had two other bottles recently, one good, one corked. This wine was singing tonight, just beautiful. A pleasure to drink!
