This performs at a much higher level than the original 88 given by WS. Had it side by side with Del Dotto Napa, 1998, and a beautiful filet. Hard to beat that.

The 11's that were rated badly upon release, I think are coming on nicely. I think it's time to stop referring to 2011 as a bad vintage. While initially unhappy that I had to buy the vintage to stay on some of my lists, I'm now happy I have them.

Another example of a Napa 2011 (in general the 2011s were roundly trashed by WS) now tasting excellent. I give the vintners credit--they said it would happen.

I was lucky enough to enjoy this bottle, brought by a friend to the dinner. It is one of the best bottles of wine I've enjoyed all year. I was shocked to go to my Spectator app and see it rated 88 points upon release. I think it just shows how difficult the rating process is, and how the "best" tasters in the world can't guess where the wine will be in 10 years. i'm usually pretty close to Spectator, typically up or down by 2 points or less. The difference was dramatic on this one.

Excellent, smooth and very drinkable right now. I think this was one of those project wines, but don't know who the winemaker is. They hit a home run with it by my taste.
