Good juice but not as complex as I have experienced with other William Sellem wines. This was the primary bottle for our Thanksgiving dinner. I do prefer a Pinot with turkey :)
The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Medium. It tastes like and Orange Blossom. The body is Medium. The wine has Silky texture. The wine finishes Medium.

This was our New Years bottle. I purchased 6 of them many years ago and this was the last. Clearly it is at it end. It tannins have softened to almost nothing. It tastes like a fully aged California Cab. If you own it I suggest you drink now. It is at the peak of its elegance.

You can tell the this wine has a very good structure. Good Caramel coloring and decent nose. Mostly earth tones. However, this bottle was a little long in the tooth. I should have drank it 2 -3 years ago.

A truly interesting wine. I am not used to the whole clay pot thing but I am impressed. Zin is Zin aged in clay or oak. It had a good punch to it. Garnet red with a heavy fruit forward mouth and prolonged finish. This one will hold up to the heaviest meat dish you can throw at it.

Drank the final bottle from my cellar. It was blown. I think a bad cork. I was stored properly so I am a little confused as to why it was so nasty. I have drank several bottles of this vintage and it is normally a spectacular bottle. I am sad that my last bottle was so poor.

Strong fruit forward. Blackberry, Currant and Chocolate. I look forward to picking a couple of more bottles to see how it ages. I would expect it to last for many more years to come. 15.2% alcohol gives it a bit of a bight but well worth the endeavor.

Drank with Filet Mignon dinner at home. This was the last of two bottles that I own. This bottle was much better than the first which I drank 5, or so, years ago. First taste is of the earth. Silky start that seems to fill the mouth. Very dark fruit on the finish.

Drank as the opening wine to a four bottle evening with friends. I am on record as saying the Leonetti is an over rated winery and this bottle was equally disapointing. But to defend the bottle, I did commit two transgressions against a good pore. First I pulled the bottle bottle from my cellar just before popping the cork and drinking. The wine was not served and the proper tempature. Second, the bottle is just too old and past its prime. The Merlot just does not stand up to long cellaring.

OK the only wine that you find bigger than this one is the Mollydooker Carnival. Blue Eyed Boy is big and jammy. The longer in the decanter the bigger the nose. full mouth feel and all consuming. A very explosive bottle. Licorice with current and maple (?) on the front end. There really is no finish it just keeps kicking your ass.

Garnet red, intense forward start, smooth middle and long lasting end. We drank this wine with a steak dinner and it proved to be the perfect complement. I have been a fan of Owen Roe for quite sometime but had never this Cab Franc exclusive. Rosa Mystica is well worth the price.

Tannins are over barring. They really are affecting the drink ability of this wine. Too sharp on the pallet. The structure of the wine does not support the tannins. I love Owen Roe as a wine maker and continue to consume many of his wines. This is the first suggestion to me that Owen may be spreading himself to little to thin by consulting with every Tom, Dick or Harry who wants to open a winery and is willing to pay his fees.

I really like a good Pinot. This one is dark and rich. Nose like that of a classic Burgundy. This is the 25th Anniversary addition. Good tannins. Could age another 5 years without missing a beat. Good juice.

OK, let's be clear. I have been drinking wine for 26 of my 46 years, well maybe a little longer. This bottle is simply the best sub $10 wine I have drank in my life. It is not because it is freakishly complex with strong nose and a hint of this and that. It is simply because it is a good drinker. It is 100% Grenache grape, I don't even like Grenache. Monte Oton is vinified from grapes grown in rich volcanic soil. The result is a hearty, ripe, and textured wine with loads of blackberry, raspberry, and plum fruit. Product of Spain Alcohol by Volume: 14.5% . I have found it listed online for as low as $6.52 per bottle. Own this wine!!!!!!!!

Do you remember in the movie Sideways while standing in her kitchen Paul Giamotti asks Virginia Madsen, "so what was the bottle that did it to you." she responded with her bottle story that made her fall in love with wine. Well, for me, it was a Cain Five. A 1995 Cain Five to be specific. 1995 drank better than the 1996. I would rank the 1995 with a 95. It was the first time for me that a bottle made me pause and take notice.

Each year is different of course but the 1996 is concentrated, ripe, soft, and rich. Aromas of truffles, cigar leaf, black currant in much of the traditional bordeaux style. Because of exceptional maturity, the wine has always been luscious and soft. Now, with substantial bottle age, it seems to be ready to drink – and, with all of its stuffing, it should hold for several years still.”

I know Ron Lachini and enjoy talking wine with him. If Tanzer gives a Pinot a rating in the high 80's (in this instance an 88) you know you have a winner. Tanzer is a very harsh judger of Pinots and he likes this wine. Should continue age well. Every cellar should have a few bottles.

This was a nice suprise. I opened 3 different wines last night (1997 D2 from DeLille and 2006 Lachini Pinot) and this was the best of the three. Mediun body and color so it is showing its age, however still a very pleasent drinker. Spicy nose but softer on the palet.
