Had this with poppeyes fried chicken. Has to be one of my all time favorite food and wine pairings. Still amazing. Better when slightly chilled. Very complex, honey, flowers, pepper, a bit of smoke or tar, apricots, peaches, white nectarine. I'm down to 1 bottle left

Fabulous wine. I have to agree to Cesar that this one is more open compared to the 2010. Where the VV is more masculine (which, compared to Bordeaux might not be the correct expression), the 2009 Chaupin is more on the feminine side. It has this typical intoxicating Janasse nose (did I mention that you have this typical nose in all high end Janasse wines down to the 2010 Terre D’argile?). Can be enjoyed with or without food. Whereas I sometimes tend to prefer the VV, my spouse simply adores this wine, especial the nose. It’s really hard to beat. You could sit there for hours and just smell the nose. Wine was decanted for almost an hour.

It is even a pleaser. When presenting this wine, you don’t have to tell a story, you could just say 'smell and enjoy'.

After drinking I was lucky to find a wine dealer, who still has some bottles left. I bought 6 more for 59 €.

I have the 2010 VV in my cellar, but don't dare to open it now. Is it too early or can it be enjoyed already now?

Well,well,well...how do you describe what the Navazos boys have done again?
Caramel, iodine, seashore in all it's swirling, cotton candy/salt complexities. This wine is transportive. The mind wanders. You do not have to seek this, it grabs you yet allows you in, plenty of room for the imagination.Magic! Watch how it changes over time and temperature. Toffee, then the beach, old barrels, lazy afternoons, heavy nights, oh, I could go on...
