Great PN, fresh and nice fruit, showing secondary notes of barnyard and black olives. Keep for another 3–8 years for further development. 93+

Solid Barbaresco with decent fruit and symmetry. However, some disturbing green notes are apparent throughout the taste. Of course this is still very young and difficult to judge, but at the moment it lacks the charm and complexity to gain a high score. Time will tell if this will develop in the right direction. 90?

As I predicted many years ago, this backward Barolo has the potential to deliver magic. It still features primary fruit, but has indeed developed. Nice and classical Nebbiolo fruit, great symmetry, secondary notes of forest ground and cigar box. Anyway, I suggest to keep this wine for another 10+ years as I think it has the potential to deliver something extraordinary. Very old-school, and with a great personality. 94+

Very promising and highly enjoyable. Big on the nose with polished fruit, candy and exotic spices. Layers of dark fruit in the mouth – cherries, figs and roses. Good symmetry and balance, even though this is of course in its infancy. The oak is well integrated, and the finish compelling. Really looking forward to follow this beauty towards what will probably be a super star wine. 95+

Dull bottle? No particularly flaws, but uninspiring and tired fruit. Some green bitterness too. A huge disappointment given the positive experience with my last bottle tasted earlier this year. 89?

Really promising! Tight and slim body, elegant fruit components of green apples and pears, gunpowder notes, and nicely integrated oak. Long life ahead. Wonderful now, but has the potential to develop into something very special. 93+

Very classical and enjoyable! Medium body, cherrie fruit, roses, almond, and secondary notes of mushrooms and forest ground. In a very nice drinking window now. 93+

Rich and delicate riesling fruit. Very good, but for Hermannshöhle, a medium vintage. Lacks the nerve and complexity to get a higher score.

Still rocking! Textbook mature claret, dry cassis fruit, cigar box, black olives and forest ground. Long, classy finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. Just amazing! 95

Wow...what a delicious and elegant wine! Layers of quite dry dark fruit, black olives, and hints of secondary notes of forest ground. Wonderful symmetry, and the oak is perfectly integrated. Tannins are soft and delicious. Extremely food-friendly, tonight paired with lamb. Wish I had more northern Rhone wines in my cellar. Drinking well at this stage, but should develop nicely over the next 10–15 years. 95+

Good, but not exceptional. A bit shy on the nose and anonymous in the mouth. Great symmetry though. Expected more, but still a very good wine. Will hopefully improve by further cellaring.

As schoolbook example of mature claret, especially on the nose. Forest ground, cigar box, and exotic spices. Tannins are fully resolved, and the only thing to maybe complain about is that the fruit could have been richer and fresher. But this is compensated by the long and complex finish that lingers for 30+ seconds. No rush to drink up, but hard to say if further cellaring will be beneficial.

Amazing juice! Expressive on the nose with cherries, roses and almond. In the mouth it shows exceptional balance, layers of delicious fruit and nicely integrated oak. Of course young, but so promising! One of the best Produttori del Barbaresco wines I have ever tasted. Awesome potential! 96+

What a beauty! Dark fruit, some brett, wonderful symmetry and a compelling finish. Again, I think this outcompete the 2010 vintage, at least at this stage. 94+

Good as expected, but maybe too early to open this. Dark in colour, still youthful, dense Nebbiolo fruit, hints of oak, excellent structure and symmetry. Not showing its full potential yet imo, and I will keep next bottle for at least 5 years. 93+

Decent claret, but I expected much more. Some complexity and secondary notes, but also some disturbing green tones in the finish. This was a beauty in its youth when tasted in 2008, but have not evolved in a positive way. 90?

Not very charming, but decent Barolo. Nice and classical on the nose. Dark fruit and solid structure. Disturbingly austere and green notes in the finsish. Got better with air, but still a bit of a disappointment. Questionable if further cellaring will help. 91?

In a nice phase, and with typical Pauillac characteristics. A nice effort but not spectacular. With potential to develop nicely over the next 10 years.

Consistent with previous notes. Massive and fruit driven, great overall balance, and with a solid backbone and structure. Blind, I would have guessed 2016, because this is still not showing any secondary notes. But the material is amazing, and I guess it will need another 10+ years to really show off. Great potential for a Chianti Classico legend! 95+

What a wonderful Brunello! Multilayered red fruit components, hints of acetone, almond and pipe tobacco. Not heavy at all, and already showing great complexity. Will of course develop nicely, but no shame at all to drink at this young stage. Potential for a 96–98 score longterm. 95+

A disappointment, perhaps due to bottle variation – remarkably how different this was from previous bottles tasted. Not a bad wine, but just lacking depth, charm and personality. The fruit is there, however, the overall appearance is austere and disjointed. 90?

This has developed nicely since last tasted in 2018. Layers of dark cherrie fruit intermixed with coffee and chocolate. The oak is well integrated, and the overall balance is great. While drinking very well now, I think it might develop into a 95+ wine with another 5-10 years of cellaring. Very nice indeed. 94+

A huge disappointment given the promises this wine gave 10-15 years ago. Typical Pauillac on the nose with black currant flavours and forest ground. However, in the mouth the wine is harsh and one-dimensional, and is definitely lacking charm. It is not fading, there are for sure enough fruit and structure, but I find it hard to see this wine ever develop into a great claret. I hope to be proven wrong. 90?

Much better than expected given the notes here. Screams out Barolo on the nose. Nice texture in the mouth with layers of dry Nebbiolo fruit and black olives. At a nice stage now in the development, but could well improve. Maybe a bit short in the tail, but indeed a very enjoyable experience. 93+

A very sophisticated version of the Riserva Rancia. Layers of pure Sangiovese fruit, nicely oaked, and hints of secondary notes of sweet tobacco. Delicious tannins in the finish. No hurry to drink, I bet this will improve a lot by 5-10 years of further cellaring. 93+
