Lots of bright raspberry and blackberry notes on the palate, but overall too much heaviness and the 15.0% alcohol tastes closer to 16.0%. Good Zinfandel fruit, but I was expecting more from one of my favorite wineries and lots.

My favorite style of (Oregon) PN: earthy and without excess ripeness. Kept evolving over several hours of decanting.

Extra slow in its evolution (tasted prior bottle in 8/2016). Took some hours of decanting for delightful complexity and tertiary notes to emerge. Monolithic and dense, overall, in need of more years of cellaring to reach its peak.

My tasting curiosity is my own nemesis at times. This needs more cellaring, similar to many past vintages of Beaucastel. Upon opening, lots of fresh strawberry notes that I typically associate with grenache, plus pronounced grainy tannic notes. With a few hours of decanting, it became more mellow but also more muted and unfocused. It tasted too raw and not in a great place, overall. Hold. 91-94pts (with more time).

A delightful LRA's 904 that is in a great spot right now. Benefited from decanting for 1-2 hours. A juicy combination of earthiness, some dill notes, wet forest, and mellow fruit that is becoming to show signs of aging (but still has years of life ahead). Much joy.

Needed good two hours of decanting to become enjoyable and more relaxed relative to the opening. Could use few more years.

A syrupy mess with weak notes of PS greatness. Disappointing overall, even if good grapes are evident.

Hedonistic "full-throttle" style with rich and layered fruit (and good iron/minerality streak) that is largely balanced by decent acidity and energetic tannins. Kept evolving with air, over several hours of decanting. Much joy already (if you like the style) and should remain strong for a number of years.

Needs few more years. The tannic bite is too pronounced (even after several hours of decanting) and gets in the way of enjoying the wine. Hold.

Light and sweet Spatlese-like Riesling dominates, with some low-to-moderate acidity and energy. A silly aperitif, at most.

Relative to the regular bottling (2014 Corison Cabernet), this Kronos tasted underwhelming over several hours of decanting. Too soft and spineless, especially relative to the higher price. I've had three bottles of 2014 Corison Cabernet since release and enjoyed those materially more than this Kronos. Will revisit in a year.

In contrast to the recent TNs on this wine that I enjoyed reading, I've found the wine tasting overly modern and excessively opulent over several hours of decanting. Uber rich and concentrated fruit that is similar to many modern-style St. Emillions and some Napa blends these days. High-quality fruit for sure and the nose was delightful, but not enough acidity and structure to my taste. It still has some unresolved tannins that benefited from air, hence on some level it should improve over the next few years.

A gorgeous Chianti Classico Riserva that is finally shining bright after a few years of cellaring. Texture alone, on the palate, is terrific, with juicy and energetic fruit. Cigar notes with lots of dark chocolate. Kept improving with air.

Good evolution since my original tasting of this vintage in 12/2015. Concentrated fruit, with bacon, blackberry, smoke, and much minerality (and noticeable but well integrated tannins). Needed air upon opening. Great energy overall. Relatively rich but well balanced still.

Gorgeous take on mountain Chardonnay fruit. So much vigor, energy, and vibrancy. Full throttle but also with excellent balance and great backbone/structure. Benefited from air and kept improving over 2 hours of breathing. Not yet at its peak. Worth the money and more. A very much memorable wine.

Uneven but with much depth and some complexity, even if relatively ripe. Continues to go strong, not at its peak. Lots of sediment. Benefits from decanting for sure.

Restrained and earthy style of BdM. Relative to my prior tasting in 2017, this is slow to evolve, has plenty of years ahead and is not at its peak yet. Give it some breathing if popping any time soon.

A tad more acidity and energy would have been better. Relatively ripe but with good acidity. Some minerality; has room to evolve yet.

Relative to my tastings of Carlisle Papera's prior vintages (2014 and 2015, in particular), this vintage is way too young and unimpressive yet. Lots of tart fruit, unresolved tannins, and overall abrasiveness that ruin the tasting experience, even over several hours of decanting. Give this a year before popping a bottle. 89pts for now, hoping it will get to 93+ pts with time, similar to prior vintages.

Less impressive than what I was expecting (after thoroughly enjoying this back in 2015): the notes of wet forest, mushroom, and dirt are still there, but complexity and tertiary notes were minimal over 3+ hours of tasting, including 2 hours of decanting. It did benefit from air though.

Relentless intensity and energy. Upon opening, tasted close to a wild barrel sample, with so much raw vibrancy. Calmed down a bit over several hours of breathing, but remained exceptionally energetic, with excellent acidity, minerality, notes of white peach, white pepper, some smoke, and grapefruit.

There is some remarkable lightness and purity of Zinfandel fruit in this wine. It's definitely not the most complex of Ridge's Zins, but hence the lower price. It's very much a joyful and energetic Zin, something I appreciate. Tannins are biting and somewhat intrusive in both the mid-palate and on the finish. Not a crime to drink it up now/soon, but it should only improve in a year or so. Drink up before 2021-2022, in my opinion.

Juicy and energetic Zinfandel fruit that drinks very well young; some notes of red currant berries on the palate. Likely to further improve with year or two.

Not the most memorable but a good white Bourgogne. Some nice steeliness and good acidity. What's lacking is complexity and tertiary notes. Still a much better value than most Napa Chardonnays.

Appears to be approaching its peak but is likely to evolve for another year or so. Hedonistic style even if not as overly ripe as many other Napa Cabs. Notes of red berries (raspberries, perhaps), some iron/minerality, cloves, smoke, and discernible alcohol (around 15%). Evolved over several hours of decanting.

There seems to be considerable bottle variation with this wine/vintage, based on my own TNs and the TNs of other CT tasters. Some of the notes read as if they are about different wines. This time around, it tasted without excesses, as a good cool-climate Syrah that still benefited from decanting and had lots of blue fruit with some good minerality, acidity, and right balance.

Good Coudoulet, tasted only better on the 2nd day (and was still very good on its 3rd day). Great price/quality. Lots of fresh strawberries with just enough body. Compositionally, it's 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah, and 20% Cinsault (in this vintage).

Excellent Bordeaux-like blend that is several years away from its peak. Even after several hours of decanting, this begged for more cellaring, with much energy, earthy notes, red-berry notes, and some rustic tannins. Delightful stuff if you are not seeking opulence in your Cab blend.

This has evolved relative to 12/2016 when I tasted good potential but yet only limited complexity. At present, it drinks very well (with a brief decanting) but is likely to improve further with some extra years, not at its peak. It kept evolving over several hours of decanting with great energy and acidity, and notes of prunes, indian spices, earthy minerals, and dark juicy fruit. I wish I had more bottles, to follow closely over the next 5+ years.

This is a delightful Cab that is much closer to the restrained and elegant style of Corison than to a typical Napa fruit bomb. It's already enjoyable with some decanting, revealing blackcurrant and also red berry notes on the palate, but it's most certainly not at its peak and tannins are biting a bit on the finish and in the mid-palate at times. Very good price/quality at $60.

A classical style of BdM, but it's not giving much in terms of complexity and secondary notes, even after several hours of decanting. Hold for several more years, would be my best guess at this stage of its evolution.
