93 points
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Dinner with Jean-Luc Pepin (Les Nomades - Chicago IL): Domaine library release. Also tasted from two bottles tonight, one open 3-4 hours before serving, the second open 8-9 hours and mostly consumed at that time, with perhaps 1/3 left in the bottle for tonight. The first bottle tasted much like another bottle from the case tasted a few weeks back. It showed lots of good ripe fruit, sweet spice and lots of fat, youthful character, with modest length and intensity. i thought this approximately a "90 point" wine. The second bottle was completely transformed. It still had big, ripe fruit but less fat, more texture, greater length and a lot more Chambolle-Musigny character to me and a lot more Amoureuses character. To me this had developed into a "93 point" wine. Others at the table (Ken) prefer fatter, more lush styled wines and preferred the first bottle, but I found the second bottle so much more exciting and energetic.

    6/7/12, 1:37 PM - Hi,

Sorry to disturb through a public comment - and thank you for the helpful review! I was wondering if the second bottle, which you describe as showing more chambolle character, was decanted for 8-9 hours or simply uncorked for that amount of time? Many thanks!
