Given the nature of the 2013 corks I decided to open this wine sooner than I wanted to. Still concentrated and bit tight but earthy and balanced. Leaning toward darker fruits. A step well above the regular Alpine 2013 bottling.

Amazing bottle of wine. Still primary. Dark fruits, olives. Super concentrated yet elegant. Regret opening my last bottle as it feels too young.

The most savory/mineral Rhys I have had so far. Sadly it had a touch of VA which prevented it from being a great wine.

My least favorite Soliste to date. On the nose a tad medicinal with some red fruit aromas. The first sip confirmed the medicinal note. Bit hot on the finish. I would have pegged this blind as a California Grenache. Actually opened 2 bottles and the profile was the same on both.

Smelled and tasted more like it was 20 years from vintage. Little fruit, super short finish with slight hints of oxidation. IMO this producer is over rated. No surprise great vintages like 2010 can still be bought for release price. Market has valued this producer appropriately.

Hard as nails in a relative warm vintage. I drank it more out of a sense of duty than pleasure.

This bottle was uninspiring. Maybe in dumb phase, but given the soft tannins and acidity i think is more likely an off bottle.

Bit shut down. This bottle showed perhaps too much rusticity. Some red fruit with zippy acidity.

It is true that there are no great wines only great bottles. This was the case of a great bottle. Very earthy slightly funky red cherry profile. Spice with just the right acidity. My best Horseshoe so far.

Better than last bottle. Not as tight but still fairly primary. Red fruit profile with medium tannins and acidity.

Still alive, but red fruit fading and acid staying put. Do not see any upside. Rustic and ok.

Light ruby red transparent red fruit. Violets on the nose with classical stem fragrance . Crunchy red fruit, light in a great way.

Great spot right now. Tannins have resolved considerably. Good mixture red and black fruit. Good finish but perhaps unidimensional. No secondary flavors yet.

This wine is in a great place for what is supposed to be a tough vintage. The lower ripeness level is noticeable but it provides for a lively wine with tart red fruit and moderate to low tannins. A more rustic Rhys but light and refreshing. Time to drink up.

On the way down. Great bottle variability in this vintage. Light red fruit with some oak still poking its head.

Bought directly from winery’s library. On opening the nose was a bit worrying as it was showing hues of port/sherry. No noticeable browning on the edges so the nose seemed a bit strange. Better on the palate with concentrated dark cherries with hints of dried flowers. Tannins pretty much resolved. Wine felt tired and if other bottles are like this, better look to open them soon.

Bottle has reached a great place. Light black cherry, with light tannins and just the right of acidity. Just an elegant bottle of wine that went down seemlessly with a good long finish. Not much from this producer available, but this wine and their Ruchottes have been good values.

Past its prime with a faint of red fruit and a dollop of black tea. Needed some air to gain some weight, but it was in its death bed.

Like other 13’s corked stained almost to the top. Ridiculously good. Ton of saline mineral goodness. 13 vintage for Rhys is great across the board but out of the ballpark in Chardonnay.

Pretty rustic wih the acidity on the forefront. Red fruited wine to be drunk in the next few years in my humble opinion.

Drinking great but as with other Rhys 13's had a high cork stain. Afraid 13's might leak at one point.

Second bottle out of three and same issue with the cork. Stained almost to the top. Cork aside, the wine was pretty good but young. Olives, pepper and black fruit on the nose and palate.

Drink up before they start leaking.

Had to open a bottle after reading about seepage. My first of 3 bottles had no visible signs of seepage but the cork was stained almost to the top. I fear seepage will be inevitable in remaining bottles, forcing and ealy drink for a wine that is not ready. Black fruit, pepper olives but fell pretty flat in the mid palate with a short finish.

Solid red. Too rustic to merit a +90'score. Bit rough around the edges and with a prominent oak signature.

Great village wine. Vintage showing its colors with good amount of fruit showing. The Vosnee character coming through. Tannins still in the forefront. Next bottle in a few years.

Painfully young. Almost barrel sample but full of promise. Reminded me a bit, to a DRC Richebourg just as a style reference as to not offend the purists. Dark fruit with ton of spice, with a very floral nose. The palate still very basic and I regret opening this bottle.

Rustic, a bit tannic and young. 84 is a good wine but not delivering above its $17 price tag. Enjoy with some hearty food.

Deeply regret opening this bottle. Way too young. Deeply concentrated and still quite tannic. Closed down somewhat. Would have liked a little more acidity. Palate showed some candied fruit as is typical of WS in my opinion and some oak on the finish. But the deep concentration balances the oak well and with time should integrate. This bottle was done for the long haul.
