Opens with some earthy aromas but the ripe red fruit quickly comes to the fore. Lower acidity than some but still shows nice brightness. The DCV Zin is always good balance of quality and value. Drinking well now.

Deep ruby color with a medium body that still shows some richness. Lots of spice and minimal oak. Makes for an interesting comparison with the other Bedrock Heritage wines. Better in a year.

A bright, juicy, lighter bodied Zin. Red fruits with a strawberry note. A more balance character after an extra year in the bottle. Acidity makes a good match for food.

Rich and ripe as expected. Oak shows through and the tannins are pretty tame. No problem aging for a while but it's pretty nice right now.

Very fragrant and floral. Loads of tropical fruit up front, relative low acidity with a medium body and a bit of viscosity. Shows better balance that it did 12 month ago. Crowd pleasing white. Better than the 2017?

Still young but drinking well now. Medium bodied, balanced raspberry-cherry fruit with spice and supple tannins. ABV well concealed. Limerick Lane is always a favorite among the Carlisle single vineyard offerings. Never enough to go around, unfortunately.

Cellared under reasonable conditions but starting to show some oxidation. An aged white at this stage. Stone fruit overshadowed by minerality and a hint of bitterness. Very consistent with recent TNs. Drink up.

Very tasty off dry to sweet Riesling. Nice and approachable. Tropical fruit. Could use a touch more acid. Maybe better than the 2017?

What a difference a year makes. 89 pts a year but really coming along nicely. Fresh, lively acidity, almost fruit forward for a Bedrock wine with supple tannins on the finish. Along with the Carlisle this is at the top of zin designated wines. Never enough to go around.

The 2014 Papera Ranch Zin is really singing at 6 years of age. Deep garnet color. Medium acidity with lush raspberry fruit and abundant spice. Classic RRV Zin at this stage firing on all cylinders. Has enough structure to hold for a couple of years but why wait.

A bit different style of zin. Aromas initially suggested CS but became more floral/minerally. Ruby-purple color and lighter in texture than appearance would suggest, with a soft mouthfeel and light tannins. Moderate acidity and decent dark fruit. 15.4% ABV is well hidden. Doesn't seem built for the long term but might be interesting to follow for a few years.

Carlisle's Central Coast syrah seem to hit a sweet spot around age 6 and this was no exception. Tannins have softened and mature notes are just starting to come through. The northern Rhone meets ripe California fruit character comes through.

Second bottle: Still young but really good juice at this point. Bright strawberry-cherry notes with minimal tannins and moderate acidity. Surprising improvement from June or just bottle varation?

Beautifully balanced and structured syrah. Ripe and rich without any heaviness. Blueberry-blackberry fruit and back ground savory notes. Might be one of the best Carlisle James Berry syrahs.

Sometimes 6 months is all it takes. The 2017 Lorenzo's has settled down and smoothed out since my last bottle in December. Tannins are supple and more dark fruit has come to the fore. No rush on this one.

Number 5 out of 6 and it gets better every time. Full throttle but not over top Zin with just right levels of ripeness. Showing both structure and suppleness. One of the highlights of the 2015s.

This wine has aged nicely. The tannins have pretty much melted away leaving a core of black fruit and spice. Some camphor on the nose. Medium bodied with acid on the high side (not uncommon for Bedrock). Near peak drinking window but with a few more years left.

Very unusual wine. Translucent ruby color with aromas of baking spice, olives and something like hops. Initially comes across as almost cider like with some bitterness on the finish. Tart strawberry rruit takes a while to show up. Typical of Horsepower or an off bottle? Never had Cayuse but they are known for some funk in the wines.

All the components are there but this came across as subdued or too restrained. Some improvement with all but it didn't show like the typical JBV syrah from Carlisle. Not sure it will improve significantly unless it's in a closed down phase.

7 or 8 months since the previous tasting and this has turned out to a sensational PS. Showing more garnet than dark purple color at this point. Delicious dark blueberry tinged fruit. The tannins have softened considerably but still complement the ripeness. More aging potential but I'm not sure it will improve. Sadly, the last bottle.

The Rossi Ranch zin seems to be a consistent outlier among the Carlisle single vineyard zins. Lighter in color and body with floral notes and juicy acidity. Berry flavors without much oak or spice. Could pass for a Rhone grenache? Almost PN-like after a few hours of air. Drinking well at this point.

I'll just repeat my previous TN: Spatlese levels of residual sugar in a low ABV package. Just a hint of lime zest and flint on the finish. Quite tasty and varietally correct. Would rate a few points higher with just a bit more acidity to balance it out. Worked quite well with Easter ham.

Very typical of the Carlisle style: Ripe, but not too ripe, with a supple texture and a bit of bright acidity. Dark berry fruit and no heat from the ABV. A few years of bottle age have rounded things out.

Deep ruby color. Any tannins that were there have melted away leaving a supple, silky wine. Notes of lavender and Provencal herbs but still has enough dark red fruit to keep it enjoyable. Overall, a beatifully balanced syrah. Probably at it's peak now. Drink up or hold for a couple of more years. Impressive effort for a 2011.
