The colour is beautiful bright ruby.
Lovely aromas of fresh cherries and roses, with a hint of licorice. On the palate - Whoa! I would say this is a medium bodied wine due to an incredible lightness, but it nevertheless fills the entire mouth with bright cherry fruit, backed by a vibrant acidity. The tannins enter the scene towards the end of the show, but they are polished and perfectly balanced. The aftertaste is loooong and juicy. Holy macaroni, this is a delicious wine. The fruit is of course primary, but the intensity and energy as absolutely amazing.

The color is deep ruby. Delicious aromas of dark red fruit, spices, tobacco and wood. Although the Cab percentage is only 20, its presence is notable in form of an distant herbal scent which adds even more complexity. On the palate, the wine is full bodied with raw and intense fruit, gripping acidity and a long finish. This is a well structured wine that is built for a long life in the bottle, but it is absolutely brilliant now.

The colour is pale yellow. Clean, salty, chalky, mineral nose with hints of lemon. On the palate, the wine is a bit mute in the beginning, but opens up with air. Smooth, grilled lemon, medium bodied, good acidity. Long and juicy aftertaste. Veeeery nice ����

Mulig fase men har ikke helt trua. Venter uansett noen år med neste flaske. Kjenner ikke igjen de andre notatene og det var ingen feil ved flasken.Moden i fargen. Burgundrød med bred vandig kant. Funkler fint. Nese preget av kirsebær og mandel. Frisk nese. Kjølig inngang, hult midtparti, varm finish og forholdsvis lang med bittertoner. Noe ubalansert. Noe skrinn frukt som jeg ikke tror vil holde. Dekantert i bred karaffel og fulgt i fire timer.

På duft er det full åpning masse roser og fioler, men også noen modningstoner som nyper, lær og kjøtt. Alkoholen stikker litt i nesen, og joda - den holder friske 15%.

I munnen er det sursøte bær, klar syre og tydelige tanniner som strammer fint opp. Lett og luftig og nesten litt nervøs. God lengde, men den blir varm i finish. På den siste skvetten som blir stående i glasset et par timers tid er det mye treverk med balsamiske undertoner, og alkoholstikket er enda tydeligere.

Helt klart en nebbiolo med kvaliteter, men med for høy alkohol framstår den som ubalansert. Når jeg sjekker andres erfaring finner jeg bare lovord, og ingen nevner høy alkohol eller tidlig modning. Svak flaske? Not Rated.

Made from declassified Chambertin grand cru grapes from young vines. Will be reclassified as grand cru from the 2015 vintage. Straight from the bottle the colour is young red, almost purple. Crystal clear. The nose has lots of unripe redcurrant and raspberries. A slightly reductive and acidic nose. The palate shows more of the same with redcurrant and raspberries, but also lots of power. Perhaps not as much power as expected. It also shows some bitter, green tannins.

After 3 hours on a decanter the nose has developed some bonfire together with the sour fruits from earlier. You can also smell the tannins in there as an intense green shadow. The palate has a very young feeling to it, and shows more aggressive tannins than before. I'll try to score now based on potential, even though the wine is barely drinkable right now.

This is being generous. I think this wine is way too young right now, but there is
power here beneath the tannins. I am also almost hoping there is some small fault with this bottle, but in any way, I will not open any of my remaining bottles for at least 10 years.

As a footnote, the bottle was recorked and put back in the cellar with little over halv the wine still left in the bottle. 4 days later the remaining wine was drunk. There was not much improvement from the first night. The tannins were still overwhelming but had mellowed and softened a bit. Would not score it any higher though.

Not quite sure what to make of this. A flaw? A seriously shut down bottle? Or just way, way too young.

Resten av flasken. Lukt av roser, kirserbær, markjordbær, anis, gummi, salvie og vanilje. Smak av røde og kirsebær, rosevann, søt lakris og urter. Ingen alkoholstikk, voldsom frukt med deilig balanserende syre og tannin. Denne har stort potensiale.

Coravin. Mørk brun med lyserøde innslag. Lukt av varm og svidd gummi, kirsebær og vaniljestang. Fruktkjøttfull smak av modne bær, særlig kirsebær og markjordbær. tomat, gassbind, lær, søt lakris, umami, urter og snev av møbelpolish. Vanilje og litt alkohol. Moderat tannin og syre som med den kraftige frukten gjjør at vinen oppleves som rustikk og litt baktung. Denne burde hatt mer luft. Vinen trenger ytterligere lagring og jeg er usikker på potensialet.

Tasted at winery visit.

In 2011 the differences between the Gavarini Chiniera and the Casa Mate are nicely marked. While the Gavarini Chiniera is growing on lighter calcarous sand and higher altitude, the Casa Mate is growing on heavier soil with a higher clay content and on a lower altitude.

The Gavarini Chiniera is already pretty open for business, with very pretty perfumed notes of crushed flowers, red berries, cinnamon and other sweet spices. It’s only medium+ in body but has enough mid-palate density to be balanced, with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is silky and ripe. Good length. A very pretty and perfumed Barolo from this great vineyard. It doesn’t have the weight or the sheer class/perfection of the 2010 or the 2008 but it will be drinking earlier and is very pretty.

Brilliant red. Fresh berries and light wooden touch on the nose. Medium bodied on the palate, with balanced acid, smooth tannins and long aftertaste. Some vanilla and spicy flavours, and plenty of berries. A long time favourite, this.
