Small to medium bubbles. Light yellow with a green tinge. Fresh aroma of green apples - and kiwis ☺ with a hint of dry crackers. One taster noted "washing room" or "clean, freshly washed towels". On the palate green apples, sweet peppers and some grapefruit bitterness in the finish. All in all a straightforward, ok wine, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Dark red with garnet edges. A whiff of mint over some dark cellary notes. Blackberries and blueberries on the palate. Mellow, ripe tannins. A bit short. Obviously some years past its prime, but still not bad at all!

There were two of us tasting this same bottle of wine, but based on our individual preferences and experiences we reached quite different conclusions.

1) Dark red. Red currants and blackberries on the nose.
Tannic, overripe. 82 points.

2) Black-currant dark red with brownish edges. Black currants and blueberries on the nose with a hint of wet wool. Very full-bodied and good. Ripe tannins. 91 points.

Dark garnet colour with a hint of blue. Unfiltered. Alcohol on the nose, with a grassy herbal note. Dark berries and beetroot. Very full bodied and poweful on the palate, almost reminding of an Amarone. Bitter cherries, dark berries, pleasant mellow tannins, balanced acidity. This wine carries its years with grace. There may have been some loss in the floral and fruity qualities, but all in all this is an excellent mature wine.

Dark ruby with garnet edges. Violets, black currants and some oak on the nose. Mellow, substantial, with dark plums, wild cherries and black currants on the palate. Some oak. Good balance with soft, mature tannins.
This wine may be at its best now, but can still take some years before it's definitely past its prime.

Clear, light yellow colour, small to medium bubbles. Pronounced pleasant aroma of sweet red and yellow apples. More like "dry" than "brut" on the palate. Sweetish taste of gooseberries with a long, dry aftertaste and a mildly bitter tang.

There is not much in the world of fortified white wines that matches the pleasant elegance of a Targa Marsala Riserva. Light amber colour, gentle notes of dried fruit on the nose, sweetness well balanced with a slight tingle of mild acidity and alcohol. Long, soft aftertaste.

On opening the bottle we were met with an inviting aroma of yellow apples and cinnamon buns. Nice light yellow colour, medium to small bubbles. On the palate it was more like green apples, very dry and with a long, dry acidic, tannic finish. An excellent, classical dry, dry Champagne, perhaps just a bit too low on dosage for our taste.

Deep bluish red to dark burgundy. Wonderfully fresh and almost pungent aroma of rhubarb, pine wood, fresh earth, with a pleasant note of raspberries that became more dominant after some time. On the palate thick, mellow, with notes of blueberries, strawberries and cherry jam. Not very dry. Moderate on tannines, low on tartaric acid.

Bluish dark red colour with garnet edge. Weak aroma with slight notes of blackberry and cranberry. Unfiltered. Needs some days upright before decantation. Pleasant mild taste, a hint of mild pepper fruit. Very moderately tannic, low on tartaric acid. A pleasant table wine, but nothing more. Perhaps four years is too much for a wine with so little tannic acid.

Dark ruby / garnet colour. A hint of caramel to the nose at first, then more pungent, rowan-berry like, then flowery, with a hint of violets. On the palate medium ripe tannines, dark chocolate. A good, pleasant wine.A full-bodied Brunello.

Colour: My wife and I noticed a promising flowery whiff when we opened this bottle, which was no longer there when we put the glasses to our noses. In the glass we noted the very slightest boquet of chocolate, prunes and black currants. The colour was garnet with a brownish tinge. On the palate, however, we found the wine to be incredibly pleasant and full bodied, with perfectly matured tannins and an excellent balance. There was a long taste of dark red berries and chocolate, and hints of leather and tobacco in the aftertaste.

My concern on opening this bottle was that it might have matured for too long. Initially there was little aroma, but over an hour or so it unfolded with some notes of dark fruits even at 9 years of age. Dark garnet/ruby colour, leathery, earthy nose with hints of black currants and spices, perhaps cinnamon, on the palate round, balanced, well bodied with some vanilla and a slight metally tang.

In these years when all the sugar of red wines are usually fermented to absolute dryness, this full bodied and fruity wine equals and even surpasses many amarones in richness of taste and aroma. This particular vintage, however, produced a wine that was a bit too sweetish and it is best suited for cheese, or could even be enjoyed as a dessert wine.

A pleasant surprise. I had expected this wine to be well past its prime, but it presented itself with a warm ruby colour, notes of dried prunes and blackcurrants and a full and mellow taste that lingered on for longer than one would have expected of a reasonably priced wine like this.

Despite its age, this rather uninteresting wine was not as bad as I had feared. At a cool 16 degrees it was devoid of any character, but at 20 degrees it presented itself as a quite acceptable table wine, with a dark blue carmenere hue that gave it some extra interest.

Sweet, spicey, honey-cakeish bouquet. Lighter on the palate and less full-bodied than one is used to from typical Amarone wines, more like a nice mature Valpolicella Classico than an Amarone. Pleasant mature tannins, enough to allow this wine to last for another ten years, I should think.
