Everything a Rayas wine should have: open fragrant and exotic nose. Tons of stems and savory notes. Great balance, Burgundian elegance, good acid. Open for business now or hold for years. If only I could buy a case or four.

Oxidative, lacking a bit of cut. Good but not particularly interesting. Bruised pear, apple, mid plus weight, not overly viscous.

Slightly reduced and muted on the nose. Quickly decanted and drank over 2 hours. This wine is all balance, elegance, mouthfeel and energetic acidity. Crazy mouthwatering finish. Mid weight with so much verve. And yes that granite aspect other have mentioned is there too. One of those rare wines I would buy in cases if I could find it. Drink now or hold.

Awesome value white. Light gold in color, moderately aromatic. Good crisp wine, oily texture, nice acid and not a hint of oak. Lemon and mineral.

‘13 base, red fruits dominating, medium perceivable acidity. Would have guessed Pinot Noir base as opposed to Chardonnay. Good but missing some energy.

Drinking well, tannins have fully resolved. Still a fair amount of fruit and decent acidity but likely will not improve further. Should hold several more years but no need to wait. Classic aged Bordeaux.

I’m not sure I completely agree with the Burgundy comparisons, this is pure California sunshine and ripe fruit. However, with time in the glass (probably an hour) this is an elegant beauty with decent acidity and is still very youthful. Reminds me of the single vineyard Rivers Marie pinots quite a bit. The pricing is not exactly competitive, but I guess the market will decide that. Easy 93 for me.

Tasted upon opening and no doubt this wine will be special one day. Decanted several hours but it shut down pretty hard. Try again in 5 years or more.

Decant this for at least 3-4 hours. Upon opening the fruit was overwhelming but fleshed our nicely over time. Really enjoyable. Probably should hold this for 5 years but approachable now for those that can’t hold off. 94-95

Surprisingly dark and glossy for a ‘14 Chinon. Acid and tannin a bit lower than expected, but allow this to drink earlier. Good quality fruit loaded with brett and some odd astringency for the first few hours. Give this some time in a decanter if opening soon.

Such a good value. Just a slight hint of brett but blew off quickly. Red and black fruits, crushed rocks. Beautiful Chinon with good fruit and of course big tannin and acid. Drinking well now but tightened up a bit as time went on so it could shut down eventually. Need more!

Consumed over 2 days without much evolution. A decent amount of extract, good but tart acid. Tannins are rustic at this point. A nice kiss of oak. 89-90

Noticeable dark fruit, ripe but not overly rich. Low acid and lacking some energy. The warmed walnut note is the counter to the fruit as is the pine note in the RM Pinots, adding nice complexity. Decanted for an hour and the structure finally showed after 2 hours. Hold or drink with a 2 hour decant.

One of the better values from Burgundy. Nice medium weight, good acid and impressive balance. Drinking so well right now, could use a few more.

Father in law brought a bottle over recently that was on point and decided to buy more. First bottle the cork disintegrated and was vinegar. On this bottle the cork broke in half but was quite lively. Fruit still looks youthful although mature it will hold for at least 5 years with a good bottle, some ten. Still some tannin to resolve but really nice, decent acidity and just a hint of green pepper.

Reluctantly, it’s probably too early to drink, but noticed enough notes to try. The wine is not hot or overly oaky, but is lacking in structure or complexity. Really disappointing. Seems like a love it or hate it wine. Not scoring.

Still quite primary. Surprised by the amount of fruit. Loads of blue fruit, violets, dark but not black fruited. Decanted 4 plus hours and giving, but probably not yet showing its best. The refined tannins are quite special. Hold for 5 years.

Must have gotten a good bottle as others have noted overwhelming brett. This displayed wonderful complexity and more than enough fruit to drink well this young. Tannins were coating but not harsh in any way. Some tartness on the finish but overall a fresh cab franc and great value. 89-90

Really interesting and unique. Instead of sharp and acidic, it's stone fruits and round, viscous fruit. Fermented and aged in oak. Almost viognier-like. Drinking well now and doubt this improves more but still has years ahead. Very good. 92-93

Expected a bit more power, but this is all elegance. Driven by soft and silky tannin and pure ripe red and black fruits. Probably needs a few years but drinks well with 2 hours of air. Really good value CdP, excited for the '15 vintage after trying this.

Tasted at the winery years ago and remember enjoying some of the Carneros pinots. Having shifted my preferences to Sonoma coast mostly for domestic pinot, I had hopes for this daily drinker. Sadly, this is just so bad. The oak just tastes so fake, low quality fruit, poor acid. I see better reviews on this wine and find no obvious wine flaws in the bottle, just see this as a waste. 79-80

Nice nose of high quality Napa fruit. Palate shows soft, gentle tannin from the Merlot and what I assume was gentle extraction from the cab and petite sirah. Really a cool blend and playing off the strength of this winery. No hint of alcohol, acid and leaves the palate lacking in feel. Weak finish, but nice blue and red fruits. 86-88. Drink over the next 5 years.

Light gold oxidative color. Tiny bead bubbles. Holding a bit back on the nose, somewhat nutty. Lots of polish, medium plus weighted, good acid. Showing some red fruit weight and tone. Definitely on the softer, polished side than more grippy acid based. Awesome.

Would love to throw this in a blind tasting of young Bandol reds. This is really young and holding back some, especially on the nose. Typical deep red fruited expression of Mourvedre, with just a hint of the funky red licorice note. Good acid. Probably best to hold for a few years. 90, maybe 92 in a few years. Up there in California QPR winners.

Wow, this is killer. Classic pencil shavings and green pepper, medium in body. This bottle easily would have gone 10 more years. Still looks like a 5 yr old wine. Perfect integration and a fine combination of aged Bordeaux on the nose and Burgundy purity and finesse. 94-95. A superb complement to a beautiful steak.

Big rich Napa Cab, very well made and so young. Really deserves to be held for 5-10 years, but not a waste to try now. Round, rich, so much fruit but balanced off with a bit of terroir. Unique Calistoga signatures: mineral, deep fruit, lush. Tannin managed well, lower acid. Really good, maybe great. 95-96

Decent fruit but tight and fairly closed on the nose. Standard notes for Bandol red: spicy, dark red fruits, herbs, licorice. Grew tighter with air and closed up. A bit of a mess on day 2, fruit just seemed to get funky. A strong hold.
