PNP. Nice, lingering nose of red and black fruits. Big and boozy on the attack. Hot at first. Will see if it calms down with time. Seems to need a lot of air.

One hour decant. Cork super moldy and soaked, but seemingly no effect on the contents. This bottle has held up well, with plenty of fruit and light tannins carried on its 37-year old frame. Plums, chocolate/coffee and cherries. I don't expect this to hang around much longer, but what's here is very enjoyable.

Great nose of dark fruits, ash, and cedar. Lots of impenetrable drying tannins, with tobacco and ash on the finish, but virtually no fruit. Just not my thing.

PNP. Nice nose of flowers, ash, and forest floor. Zippy cranberries and cherries. A titanium-framed pinot -- lighter weight, but finish is long and strong. Hard to put down.
Red
Slow ox in the cellar for 3 hours, followed by an hour in the decanter. Nose of cherries, iodine and seaweed. Lots of cassis, and red cherry, with only a hint of forest floor and a slight bit of oak. Tannins still evident, but in the background. Fruit was still going strong. This was a fabulous showing for a 37 year-old Bdx, especially one that so many reviewers have said was overwhelmingly tannic at age 20 and 25.
White
Toasted bread, tropical fruit, and some lingering oak. For Aubert, just okay. Might get better in a few years, but am saving cellar space for the single vineyards.
White
Slow to unfold in the bottle and the glass. After an hour, intense notes of pear, ripe peach, and pineapple. A little bit of oaky vanilla at the end, but well integrated. Couldn't put this one down, but will easily last another 10 years.

Big, dark, and inky. Floral nose, with blue and black fruit. Tannins are fairly mellow and balanced well with moderate acidity. Finish goes on and on. The wine's 15.4 ABV is not apparent at all. Not exactly a post-dinner summer sipper, but this is fantastic stuff.
Red
Gamy and herbal nose. Red plum, with licorice on the finish. Tannins largely integrated, but lots of acid remains. Just a solid Tempranillo.

Olive tapenade and dark fruit, with some licorice at the end. Still quite tannic and needs time, but all the elements are there. Hold next one until 2021.
Red
2001 Château Clos de Sarpe St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Black fruit, forest floor, spice, and maybe a bit of tar. Tannins well integrated, but still evident. Drinking great after an hour in the decanter. Another five years to go, minimum. Very nice.
Red
Red cherries and herbs. Elegant and lithe, with great balance and nice finish. Just a lovely CdP.
Red
Heavier and more concentrated than the 2014 SLH. Cherry cola, raspberry, and spice notes. Still slightly hot on the finish. Followed the better balanced, less concentrated SLH, and definitely prefer the SLH right now. This one seems better equipped for the long haul and needs a little more bottle time for max enjoyment.

Red
Raspberry and blackberry fruits with spicy notes. Quite rich, but not over-the-top or hot. Almost restrained by KB standards, and drinking just great.

In a great spot. Floral nose, lots of ripe, juicy black fruit, and black pepper. Still sporting evident tannins and acid, but in balance. Finish is persistent and tasty. A restrained yet elegant CA syrah. Lots of life left in this beauty.

From 375ml. Cork slightly loose and wine a bit oxidized. Honey and overripe peach on the attack, with grapefruit and almonds on the back end. Finish falls a bit flat. A little bit flabby and tired, this bottle was definitely hitting the end of its shelf life.

Short decant. Spicy, meaty nose. Black fruit and cocoa notes. Initial dense, port-like mouthfeel gives way to granite, followed by a smoky finish. A fantastic, interesting, wild wine.
Red
Lots of red raspberries and strawberries, along with light herbs. Huge fruit, light tannins. Fantastic grenache.
Red
Short decant. Blackberry and ash nose jumps from the glass. Black fruit, licorice, ash, and a bit of cocoa at the end. Moderate tannins. This bottle was drinking great tonight. A decade at least to go, but very enjoyable now.

Floral and raspberry nose. Pomegranate and sour cherry candy notes. Surprisingly thin, with light tannins and not much of a finish. Wondering whether this bottle was flawed.

30 minute decant. Deep ruby-purple, with a fantastic nose of blue/black fruit, with floral notes. Mouth coating tannins carry thick, concentrated black fruit and pencil lead, with a slight minty/camphor edge. Way too young right now, but still amazing. Expect this to be a stunner in 10-15 years.

Short decant and then poured through a Vinturi. Spicy red fruit on the nose, with a bit of smoky ash and barnyard. Tons of black fruit and minerals up front with acidity adding freshness, followed by ash and then moderately grippy tannins. A really interesting wine that continues to evolve as the night goes on. Easily the most accessible Galardi I've had to date. Was ready to give up on these, as the 2004, 2005, and 2006 were impenetrable and impossible for me to grasp or appreciate.

PNP. Agree with previous reviews- getting a lot of juicy black raspberry and pomegranate notes. Acidity predominates. Tannins are very light. None of the usual green or black pepper, olive tapenade, or chocolate notes associated with New World syrah -- but that's OK. A zippy, refreshing, fruit-driven effort. Will let last bottle sit another couple of years.

More than two years since the last bottle. Short decant. Nose of blackberry, herbs, pencil shavings, and light forest floor. Red cherries, pomegranate, cassis, and vanilla flavors. Still quite acidic, but not as sour as last bottle. Tannins grow with air time. Can't tell if this will continue to improve.

PNP. Same soft and ripe style up front. Lots of sweet cassis. Closed down after about an hour and became quite tannic and dry.

One hour decant. Massive wine with tremendous depth and structure. Licorice, blackberry, underbrush, spice box, and vanilla. Initial barnyard nose has dissipated, leaving behind pine needles and black fruit aromas. Still tannic, but not overwhelmingly so. Drinking well now, but will reward further patience. Have one bottle remaining, which I'll let sit for at least another decade.

Perfect cork. Decanted and poured off one glass to taste. Deep garnet with a slight bit of bricking at the edges. Initial impressions of tar, forest floor, and tobacco. No discernible fruit. Super tight. Will come back to it in an hour.

One hour in: camphor notes dominate, with mint and dark fruit starting to emerge. Very little acidity, and moderate tannins. Tobacco and tar starting to fade. Long ride; great wine. Has another 15-20 years in it.

100 percent St. Emilion merlot. Decanted for an hour. Mineral and floral nose. Red fruit, with lightly grippy tannins and plenty of acidity. A nice, middle-of-the-road Right Bank sipper. Not worth more than five years in the cellar.

PNP. Cherry Jolly Rancher up front, followed by bitter chocolate on the back end. Acid outpaces the light tannins. Plenty of time left to go.

Popped, waited an hour, and consumed over two hours. Off-the-charts good. Aromas of flowers, ripe orange, and buttered popcorn. Super thick with long legs and a lengthy finish. A bit of oaky vanilla at the end.

Cork was dry and crumbled. Decanted for 30 minutes. Crushed stone and flowers on the nose. Blackberries and licorice flavors. Still slightly tannic and a bit sour and thin, but drinkable. Didn't love it, but I probably waited too long.

Definitely well into its secondary phase. Two hour decant at cellar temp. Great gamy nose full of black fruit and earthy tones, with pencil shavings and licorice too. A small amount of brett, but not at all off-putting and it actually adds to the appeal. Medium bodied, but super complex and with a finish that goes on for hours. Could still taste the wine this morning after two glasses last night. Based on this bottle, the wine has another decade to go, but it's darn good right now.

From a bottle re-corked at Ducru in 2011. Decanted for two hours. A bit of musty funk blew off after about an hour, leaving behind forest floor, tobacco, and blackberry aromas. Wine showed only slight secondary characteristics, with blackberry and currant flavors dominating. Tannins are fully integrated. Could not believe this was a 32-year-old wine. Just fantastic, and still going strong.

Wine dinner at San Lorenzo in DC. Uncorked for an hour; no decant. Initial barnyard nose, followed by aromas of dark fruits, ash, and licorice. Not as tannic as I remembered, but tannins still fairly heavy. Went well with tuscan steak. Others enjoyed it more than I. Recommend holding at least another 5 years minimum to give tannins maximum time to resolve.

Decanted for an hour. Ruby red with a slight amount of bricking at the edges. Huge, flowery nose that just jumped from the decanter and glass. Tannins still present, but plenty of fruit, with a bit of pencil lead and sage. Tasted next to an '82 Ducru (which was stunning, but not as full bodied) and it more than held its own. A bottle in this shape has another 10-15 years, but it's not getting any better for me. Great stuff.
