couldn't resit popping it open. Tannins are vibrant with a strong back bone, flavors are balanced, inky color...what a quality Syrah should be. I would blind taste this against any rhone. If you can find, I would highly recommend it.
Rosé

Smooth and crisp, much bolder than the typical summer rose's from France.

Anyone who says 2011 was an off year for Napa cabs, this elixir bucks the trend. Decanted for two hours and got better as the night went on...by the end of the evening (5 hours after the initial decant) the wine was perfection. Dark berries, stone fruit, charred earth, the best christmas fruit cake....can't wait to see this one evolve. Highly recommended.

Pop'd open for three hours before pouring. Wow! Still young but so good. Burnt ends BBQ, ripe stone fruits...a knock-out.

I've held these bottles for sometime and they never delivered, until tonight. Finally coming into a decent drinking stage with silky tannins.

Drank from a 6L. Was better as the night went on particularly good with cheeses and seafood. Honeysuckle, plantains and beeswax. A force.

Drank from Magnum. Pop'd and poured. Despite the criticism of the napa 2000 vintage, this bottle was magical. In its prime now. Got better throughout the night. Wish I had more.

Rich, but a bit too rustic and acidic for my taste. I hope it will mellow out in a few years.

Very young and tight but clearly built to cellar and has great potential. I'd hold off drinking this for a few years if you can.

Decanted for four hours. Silky smooth, dark red fruit, highly concentrated juice. Worth cellaring for a few more years but I don't think the latest vintages are worth the price if they are a step below the 2007.

Bouquet that fills the room...balanced flavor of BBQ, roasted lamb and dark red fruit. I would put this Syrah head-to-head with any top Rhone producer and the Colgin would win ten times out of ten. I couldn't recommend more.

PnP. Not as big and bold as I anticipated. Beautiful nose, soft tannins, and squid ink color. Next time I will decant for at least an hour.
