Dark, dense purple color; deep berry, slightly earthy on the nose; good body and balance, this is a rich, elegant wine without being a fruit bomb. Dark berry, a hint of mocha and meat, a long-lasting finish. This is drinking beautifully right now.

An interesting blend of Zinfandel, Petite Syrah and Carignan. Very dark and dense color, lots of black fruit, a bit of pepper and anise on the noses. The fruit bursts in one’s mouth, dark fruit, a bit of slate, good acidity and balance, a medium body. The finish was pleasant and medium to long. Served with burgers, this was actually quite refreshing.

What a delightful wine. Clear, straw-colored, with a fresh, mineral nose. Medium body, a hint of stone fruit, good acidity and balance. Medium finish is just very pleasant. Served with eggs Benedict, it really paired quite nicely.

Deep garnet color, dark berry fruit, leather and some meatiness on the nose. The wine is rich and well-balanced, heavy fruit up front, drying as it moves across the mouth to a long finish of berries and leather. This is a big wine, and while it drinks fine now, it will last a long time.

Deep garnet color, bright but darker fruit on the nose, a bit of earthiness as well. Beautiful dark berry fruit on the palette, good body, structure and balance. Finish lasts a long time, with both berries and freshness present. Really a nice wine served with roasted meat. If you can find it, this wine is drinking beautifully right now.

Beautiful ruby red color, not too deep. Cheerios, berries, floral on the nose. Lucious red fruit, a touch of spice, medium body, and a medium finish. Served with grilled PB&J and bacon sandwiches and squash soup. Yes, it was delicious.

Quite light, earthy red fruit on the nose. Still a little tight after 90 minutes, a little astringent; red current, good body and acidity, and a killer finish. My bad that we drank this for Christmas this year, it really needs to age a little more, but still a really good wine. Might score better as it ages, I’m not experienced enough to tell. Served with oso bucco and enjoyed with family.

Clear, very faintly pink, lots of small bubbles. Fresh, slight berry and yeast on the nose. Nice acid, well-balanced, fresh berry flavor with a medium finish. At this price point, this is a tremendous value. Served as a before-dinner aperitif.

Deep, but bright, ruby color. Beautiful red fruit on the nose, with some earth and spice. Medium body, good balance and structure that stood up well to the Thanksgiving diner with which it was served. The medium finish started with juicy fruit and dried out nicely. Really a good wine.

Bright, pale yellow, some white fruit and floral notes on the nose. Fruit explodes on the palette, really nice acid, medium bodied and a nice mouth-feel. Finish is pleasant and lingers quite a while. Served with a mild curry dish and as an aperitif, this wine is wonderful.

Medium dark purple color; perhaps a hint of brick at the edge, but one needs to squint to discern it. Violets, dark fruit and a hint of spice on the nose. Nice fruit, a little subdued perhaps but still clamoring for attention. Good structure, the tannins are very soft yet doing their job. Medium long finish is just pleasant as heck. Served with a lamb and vegetable curry, the match was divine. I’d also note I was concerned it might fade as the bottle stayed open; we didn’t quite finish it, and it was as fresh as ever the next day.

Medium finish starts with fruit and dries nicely. Served with deep-dish Detroit style pizza with sausage, ricotta and dried tomatoes, it actually paired nicely.

Dark but vibrant inky purple color. Strong notes of blue fruit with a bit of mocha on the nose. The fruit explodes in one’s mouth; fruit is fresh but not over the top, with hints of chocolate. Very rich, good balance. Finish is long and very pleasant. Served with lamb chop with sweet pepper relish and wild rice pilaf, the meal and wine paired very well. Once again, Grant has created a beautiful wine that is well-balanced and is a little different from what one might find elsewhere.

Pale salmon pink with a nose of dry yeast and flowers. Dry on the palette, with hints of yeast, melon and a bit of raspberry (at least, to me). Long finish that is very pleasing. Served with an appetizer of Creole shrimp on corn purée, it was a match made in heaven. This again reminds me just how good this wine is.

Found this is my cellar as I was looking for a Pinot to pair with salmon. I was afraid this might be past it prime, but not to worry. Nice dense color with perhaps a hint of brick around the edge; hints of black fruit, a bit of earth and violets on the nose. Nice but not overpowering dark berry and cherry fruit, some nice earthiness, and a finish that started strong but died out a bit (due to age, I’d think). It reminded me why we bought this wine in the first place; it was outstanding.

A little bricky when first poured, medium red color and clarity. Nose is very earthy, with a little red fruit remaining. Medium body, some leathery spice and earth notes on the palate. Medium finish. Very drinkable, but past its peak, we waited a bit too long. Served with rack of lamb, mushroom and asparagus risotto and carrots.

Deep garnet color, blackberry, violet, a little earth on the nose. Dark fruit, great balance, full-body, and mocca on the finish that lasts a real long time. Served with grilled pork chop, polenta, hunter sauce, and a salad. This was outstanding; nobody does Merlot like Washington State, and Northstar may be the best in Washington.

Nice deep ruby color, dark cherry/cassis on the nose with a hint of dried flowers. Still showing dark red fruit, but restrained, as well as a bit of pepper notes and some earth. Nicely balanced, the finished lingered a bit, starting with some fruitiness and drying slowly. Served with steak, polenta, and a hunter’s sauce with mushrooms. Probably a bit past its peak, but still drinking very well.
