Drank the ‘83 in a vertical tasting with the '82 and the '86 with Ralph D
'83: at first, just after decanting seemed thin, minimal nose. But 1 - 2 hours later came ‘out’ and continued to open throughout the evening. Reasonable nose and more complexity, yet minimal finish. After 24 hours under Argon tried it again and still holding. Bought it at Ernie’s in Palo Alto in the late ‘80s for $21.97.!

‘86: Darker in color than the ‘83. Still some tannin, but more tartness with some fruit to balance. After 24 hours, slight hint of fruitiness and berries.

‘82. Darkest of the three, good dark ruby. Big nose, filled the room when decanting. Still alive, some berries in the nose, nicely balanced for a 36 year old wine. Has been in our cellar for a good 30 years. Tried it the next day, and was still a very respectable wine.

Has been in my cellar since new. Took 2 hours to open up. Thereafter was delightful. Went well with Tete d'mua cheese and then even good with Teriyaki chicken!

I found this wine in my cellar and decided to open it, not expecting much (I do not remember how it came into my possession. What a surprise! After 23 years, it was still robust, no indication of deterioration, flavors of cherry and currant, just a delight!

It was all that I expect from George de Latour. I have been enjoying the BV G Latour for decades and this one did not disappoint me

Considering that it is 21 years old, the wine has held up very well. A little bit light but very pleasant to erin. Berry taste comes through. Light on the tannin, I recommend drinking soon. It has been in my cellar for a good 15 years, so well stored.

I am amazed by this bottle. I have had it in my cellar since the late 80's. The wine has signs of age but is eminently drinkable.

iNCREDIBLE! this wine has been in my cellar since the 80’s. It was SUPERB. Amazing for a 33 year old wine, although of course those 1982s are hardy. I have one more bottle. I will need to drink it within the next year.

One of the old bottles in my cellar. I was prepared to dump it, but to my surprise it install alive, considering the age! Going allowance for that, it held up well, especially with some cheese. If you have it in your cellar: drink it!

Considering the age, this wine was very drinkable. Deep color, nose was not very prominent but still full bodied and good balance.

Incredible how after this many years this wine holds up. It is balanced, and we enjoyed it throughout the meal; we had chilies y nogada. Imagine, it held up to the chilies.Still had good alcohol, and enough tannins to hold for several hours. An honor to share this wine with good friends.

I have had this wine in my cellar since1978. After 43 years, it was still A DELIGHT. Wonderful nose, not so much tannin left, but showed a very nice balance, color was still good, I wish I had some more bottles, this was my last.

To me very pleasant surprise this wine bottle still held its own. Had some fruit left, and enough tannin to hold up to being open for a couple pof hours. With Tete de Moine cheese it was a delight, which for me is a wonderful statement for a 38 year old California cab!

Still had much to give. Good balance but a little on the light side at first. Openes up after 30 minutes. Then "exploded" with Brie!

This is the last bottle from a case I have had in my cellar since the late 70's. I knew I was pushing it. The cork was surprisingly clean, but the wine showed oxidation color. In spite of that, it was drinkable if one gave it some leeway. It still had some fruit, and as it sat for 30 minutes or so gave a last sign that it had been a great wine.

Drank on 4/6/2012. I did not expect what I found. While a hint of oxidation was present, this wine is a delight even after almost 38 years. It has been in my cellar since the late 70's so well cared for. Had acidity that held it together, still full on the palate, a little fruit, overall a delightful old lady.

Consumed APRIL 6, 2012; EXPECTED IT TO BE UNDRINKABLE. VERY SURPRISED TO FIND IT STILL A VERY GOOD WINE, WITH SOME FRUIT AND CERTAINLY RESPECTABLE FOR A 38+ OLD LADY.
