2022 Walter Scott Chardonnay Cuvée Anne Willamette Valley

My first time checking this new vintage out for this wine. As is often the case with Walter Scott Chardonnays, reductive notes on the nose. I would call it mildly reductive, but I will caveat that by saying that I don't mind some reduction on the nose in Chardonnay, so you might find this to be more noticeable.

There is a lemony note with good acidity and persistence on the palate - it seems like this is another fine vintage for this blend, and if you have a mind to, I'm sure this will develop nicely over the next 3-5 years.

BTW, I have to say that I love the vintage books that Walter Scott has started preparing for the last couple of vintages - truly some good info for your inner wine geek. In this case, the Cuvee Anne is a blend from four vineyards (Justice, Koosah, Sojeau and Witness Tree), aged in 45% new oak for 12 months, so a somewhat different aging regimen and vineyard composition than the entry-level La Combe Verte. Very good, and highly recommended.

2006 Mill Creek Vineyards Merlot Estate Dry Creek Valley

Medium bodied, with spicy and black fruit aromas (blackberry pie with sugar cookie crust!), leading to cola, plum and baking spice on the palate. Light tannins, long finish.
