Basically a perfect wine. Bright red fruit, solid acidity, youthfully balanced, and totally delicious. I wish I had cases more.

2 hour decant helped this a lot. I put it back in the bottle, and even still it had a narrow window of deliciousness. A great wine pairing with turducken.

After about 4+ hours in the decanter this came together. Strong port-ish flavors and not to everyone's liking, but for a 56 year old wine, this was quite good.

Last bottle of a case. Wish I had 10 more. This is everything I want in a Burgundy.

Not sure if it is oxidized or is an off bottle, but after 3 hours in the decanter it sill is basically undrinkable.

This was singing from Minute 0. Open now and enjoy.

Sad to say that this bottle was showing more age than fruit. Nothing of note or super compelling showed up during the 3 hours with this open.

Had I known, I wish I just sold it rather than drank it.

PNP and totally delish. The most pronounced bell pepper nose I've ever smelled. Drink up.

Okay, 2 years later: it was kind of out of control on night one, with the beauty of the Nerello buried under heat, acid, and general unrest (for lack of a better term). Yet on Day 2 this is dreamy: bright cherry, well balanced, all the notes of terroir and dirt and what we expect from a well-built Etna Rosso.

Still so good. Drink up. Took a good hour to resole the finish, but the nose was top-notch from the first moments.

Quite a bit of barnyard upon opening. In a word, simply delicious, though nothing simple about it. Totally savory and delicious. For $40 from Garagiste it's a deal, and then 8 years of patience, the wine is now singing.

Decanted for about 90min. Lovely in every way. Certainly ready to drink now, but still some youth if you choose to hold.

Stumbled upon an extra bottle I had and so glad I opened it. This wine is at a perfect stage and a beautiful representation of slightly aged Nerello. Night two was even better. Soft, still fresh, luscious with a touch of dirt. None of the bite of earlier bottles. Might it get better? Not sure I could ask for much more than where it is now.

Truly a "meh" wine. Not bad, but surprisingly generic wine. Decanting helped, but not much.

Popped and poured. Cork a bit strange popping out, but really in great shape. Rich and delicious Nebbiolo. Tannins refined and gentle, yet still very present at 19 years old. I wish I had a lot more.

Maybe this has gone to sleep for a bit? Too bright, hot, and just not enjoyable on night one (even in a decanter for an hour). At 48 hours was beautiful — just a lovely expression of Nerello.

Singing from beginning to end. Medium body, raspberry and strawberry, luscious nose, and long finish. It is what I want in a burgundy. Ready to go.

Just a lovely wine. No old world depth, but you can just sit and enjoy the nose for hours. Patience really pays off with this Littorai.

15.5% abv and you can really taste it. This bottle was thin, hot, spicy, and overly high acid. The bright fruit of the Nerello was buried under all of that. Decanted, put in the fridge to cool it down, waited 24 hour hours, then 48 and it just never became an enjoyable wine. Maybe an off bottle? I hope so.

Simply (and complexly) delicious. Well-integrated bit of oak, lovely, balance, no sign on premox. I wish I bought cases of it.

As you likely know, this is a gorgeous wine. This bottle showing a bit more heat (though it is 15%). Overflowing with bright red fruit, serious acid, and perfectly in balance from the first drop to the last. Day 2 even better.

Both a lovely and serious wine. 1 hour decant, and it was singing through dinner.

Tannins well resolved. Some tertiary notes coming in, but still some primary fruit there. A lovely wine. Drink or hold.

I cannot find the magic in these wines. This was out of balance at 15% and too much VA. Decanted, chilled, warmed, you name it. Could not get it to be yummy at all.

There was a home in the wax top with brown stuff coming out so I was concerned something was awry with its stability. The cork was soaked through but the bottle is delicious. Likely would’ve kept for many more years but I didn’t want to risk it. This is yummy stuff.

This is starting to show some bottle variability, some more faded, some more youthful. This faded bottle still is profound, and the tertiary characters coming in are spot on beautiful. I love this wine.

2010 Le Piane Boca Nebbiolo Blend, Nebbiolo (view label images)
As someone mentioned elsewhere, if Burgundy and Barolo had a baby, it is this wine. Beautiful wine top to bottom, black cherries, mild tannins and well-balanced. Drink or hold.
