Very closed at first, but opened up after a few hours in the decanter. Deep red color, black berry and strawberry jams with hints of blue berry, rose hips, flowers and spice. Very good acidity, smooth tannins, medium to full bodied, oak is well integrated, good mid-palate. Black and blue berries with a little bit of that apple flavor I sometimes get from zin. A bit of spice such as cloves and some tobacco coming through. Pretty explosive flavor but not over the top, and a nice long finish. This wine has definitely entered its drinking window, but is very tightly wound and definitely has a few good years left ahead of it. Went very well with the flank steak (and the kale!) 94
