We lost a lot in 2018. We lost Burt Renolds, John McCain, George H. W. Bush, Anthony Bordain, Dolores O'Riordan, and Ulises Valdez. If the latter means the most to you, you are certainly an Oenophile and this note is to you. This is a beautiful Zin that is at it's peak. Unfortunately, we'll never taste Ulises' vision in a Zinfandel moving forward due to is untimely demise in 2018. However, this is a shining example of a Russian River Zin and I could only be privileged enough to get to experience another bottle but I fear that this is the last I'll taste. Godspeed, Ulises and thank you so much for your dedication to your craft, the enjoyment that you've provided me, and your family. I can only hope that they carry the torch and produce wine in a fashion that fulfills your legacy.

Day 2 notes after leaving corked half bottle on counter, dense ruby color, earthy nose, medium mouthfeel, long finish with delicate tannins but some heat, not much fruit, no-fuss drinker, I agree with group score, priced right at $19.
