Possibly a bad bottle. The cork seemed fine, it the wine had a smell of sulphur an over powering taste of earth and lead. In general it was funky. No fruit. Very acidic on the nose.

Airated. Drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. It evolved nicely. Generally very smooth, but changed over the time. At one point there was annis (sp?) and current. At another berries and pepper. I'll taste again tonight.

Very good. A bit smoky. A bit tannin heavy, but it will mellow.

Loads of smoke. If you like a smooth smoky wine, this is your baby. If not (like my wife) you should stay away. Not a lot beyond the smoke, but a really cool wine to try.

Smooth. Ready to drink. Plenty of flavor, but balanced. Not the star of the night, but a good contender.

This is not my rating, but the rating average of my guests. I haven't learned yet how to appreciate chateauneuf de pop yet. It tasted really smooth to me, but didn't hold a candle to the grand reve series iii in my opinion. Others disagreed with me.

Drank on New Years. One of the best out of some very good wines. Pop and pour, but then slowly drank it with friends over an hour. Dark. Very rich. Lingered. Probably still too young.

this is a very robust wine. But needs a few more years to age. Lots of bell pepper in the flavor.

A wonderful wine. Great from the first opening, and all through the night. Fruity and smooth.

Solid wine. Fruit. Vanilla. Aftertaste of tobacco. Better than I expected. I think it is good because it is well rounded. Dark purple color. Will buy more.

Compared to other Force Majeure wines this was just ok. Perhaps my expectations were too high.

Very good. Decanted 30 minutes and drank over the evening. This wasn't as good as the Corliss, but I think in another few years it might mature a bit more.

Perhaps one of the best I've ever had. Hope I can get more at this price. Much better than the Gustavo Thrace. I didn't take notes, but still remember the sweet vanilla tobacco...

Mmm mmmmm. Smooth taste of cherry and vanilla flavored tobacco. 20+ seconds of round off on the tung. Well balanced. Nothing truly unique, but also nothing wrong with it at all. Nice color. Opened up over three hours.

Very nice wine with excellent balance. The only surprise was that it was extremely light. Very subtle. Almost no oak (which I prefer). Not as rich as the other Hanzells that I've had. But it was still was quite good and refreshing. My wife and I nearly finished a bottle without meaning to.

One of the best pop and pour wines I've had. Good within seconds. Very good within minutes. This isn't as well rounded as a 92+ should be, but it is as good as it gets straight from the bottle.

Rich and buttery. No oak flavor common to some Chardonnay. Smooth with no sharp edges. Just a hint of fruity flavor.

Very nice. Third wine of the night, so judgement could be a little off. Started with a mild funk on the nose. Opened quickly to a fine wine. Over the next two hours it increased in complexity. It actually held up with some big hitting Cali cabs. Not the same, but quite nice!

This is my introduction to Mclaren Vail cab savs. It wasn't exactly like the big California cabs, but it was very well ballenced. It had plenty of fruit without being juicy. It was the best of the night (against cal cabs that I was sure would win out). I'll be going back for more.

Can we say California cab! Classic. Not as we'll balanced as the Bancroft Berlinger in side by side, but still quite good.

Cork broke on opening, so I thought it was shot. But all was good after aerating with a filter and decanting for 30 minutes. Now it may be past it's prime, but it has a nice smoky with a hint of fig.

Expected a lot more from the reviews. Still excellent, but not what I expected. Mocha and cherry in a nice blend. Strong nose at first. Mellows nicely over an hour. By hour two takes on a typical mcClairen cinnamon flavor. This one was a bit sweeter than I usually go for, but really good.

Mistake. Popped and poored. nice dark color. There was a little sediment, so I should have strained it. Started with a ton of heat. I let that glass sit and the rest decant for two hours and it was gorgeous. Smooth. Just right.

Very good, but not as good as the '07. Dark. Opened with a lot of heat. Mellowed in the decanter for 2+ hous before it took on that classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that we all know and love. A few more years on the bottle will help mellow it a bit more.

These bottles are definitely hit or miss. This one was a home run! Had after BBQ chicken with a private reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ct92+. This was far better. Sweet. Not your topical Shiraz. More cherry. A bit of smoke. Almost thought it was a nice cab Shiraz mix. Lasted for 30+ seconds on the tongue.
