This is an excellent pinot in every way. It has a Burgundian nose, but on the palette it is sublime, lithe and textured. Candied cherries on the palette dominate. I just soiled my pants! Probably my enjoyable pinot of 2015 thus far...

This is a 'one night stand…

Nice nose of caramel, cinnamon and a hint of barrel toast. Good texture and mouthfeel. Its balanced, just a little too sweet for my palette. I never was a fan of cab franc and that is what is adding the octane here. Some will love it. Its not a bad wine, just has a narrow focus.

Brilliant wine, depending on how you prefer your pinots.

On the nose, I detect cinnamon, spice-box and exotic dark fruits. On the palette, it's lithe, viscous and sweet. Tannins are already well integrated. Excellent balance, structure, texture and elongated finish. I would like to taste this 3 years from now to see where it evolves to. Struggling to see how it could possibility evolve to a better place at this point…

Decanthor nailed this with their note. My only "add to" would be that it finishes slightly tart. Components are there, but it needs to round out. Way too young to be approached now. Take another look 3 years from now.

Really nice heady cocktail of kirch and cherries on the nose. On the palette, the tannins are in the foreground, but the layered texture is evident. Classic Napa cab with plenty of runway ahead of it. Excellent!

Very similar tasting note from the 2009. This needs some bottle age. It has a bold structure and is tannic. It will come round in a year or so. One for the cellar.

Wonderful chard with texture notes of brioche an candied fruits on the nose.
On the palette, the wine is perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of weight and viscosity. Tropical fruits such as pineapples and a hint of grapefruit, with a deftly balanced finish.

One of the best chards I have tasted!

Spitting my pacifier out on this. It does not merit extensive notes. Calling it grape juice would be to complement it. Its just lousy wine. A frenchman would puke if he tasted this.

Much better than the previous vintage I tasted. Lots of melon and grapefruit on the nose. Nice vibrant experience on the palette with citrus fruits and melons. No oak or butter, just fruit and acidity, with a persistent finish.

A sublime complex nose of barrel toast and possibly marzipan!

On the palette, the wine os perfectly balanced. The texture is soft and plush with no sharp edges. This pinot has an uncommon richness. Cherries and cinnamon dominate.

Wine Spectator tasted this wine in 2010. I cannot reconcile their 87pt rating with mine.

I completely agree with the previous comments on this wine, however..

I think we may have taken a look at this wine a little too soon. On the nose, it's rich, dense and multi-layered. I detect cinnamon and maybe some roasted coffee, which is heady and alluring.

On the palette, the wine is very sweet, but tannic and precocious. Cherries are evolving into dark fruits. Maybe a waft of black tea. Probably should have been left alone for another 2-3 years. But the raw components are all there. It's a star in the making. Frustrating that 13 years on, it still needs more patience. I should have guessed this though as I also have the 1998, and that also too a similar amount of time to relax.

Ethereal nose of spice box and cinnamon. On the palette, I noted some slight acidity. But the texture was wonderful, with persistence. Very fruit forward. A touch of graphite rounds things out.

This bad boy has evaded my searches, up until now. I was a real pleasure to take another look at this several years on.

On the nose, the spice is amplified, cinnamon, barrel smoke and a whiff of candied cherries. On the palette, the wine has lost it's "puppy fat". It's more precise, but still represents a very contemporary style of pinot. Its balanced and relatively light on its feet now. Good mouthfeel and a long finish.

I never thought this type of wine would hold up to cellaring, but it has. I think its at it's peak now, tho.

Yeah, this is excellent! It's a cab/merlot blend (I think), and the winemaker got the balance just right…

First of all, the label is very cool. The nose is rich, lifted and precise. Primary notes of Pomegranate Cinnamon and Blueberries. On the palette, the wine is textured, deep and the tannins create a wonderful structure.

This is a "must buy" at this $20 price point.

For the age, very impressive.

On the nose, a slight hint of age. Herbal tones with licorice, cinnamon and spice box.

On the palette, you could be forgiven for thinking that you are in France. Led pencil is evident, along with stewed dark fruits. Tannins are completely integrated, while the wine finishes a touch tart, yet delicately sweet. For a 28 year old wine, it has held up superbly. If you haver this and it has be well cellared, you have no worries for the next few years…

In the words of John McEnroe, CT geeks, "you can't be serious!!" 85 pt average? Really?? This wine is outstanding!

Excellent. Precise. It's viscous and dense. Apple pie and brioche on the nose. Superb weight in the mouth. Super sweet, but not cloying. Asian pears and pippin apples are evident. Slides down like butter.

Best chard I have tasted in the last 12 months. Outstanding!

And I think I may have under-rated this…

The nose has the tell-tale signs of decline, but its just a whiff. Barrel toast and tobacco are evident, along with some dark rich fruits.

In the glass, there are signs of bricking. On the palette, tobacco is the first thing that you notice, along with fig paste and sandalwood. Tannins are completely integrated, and still provide some structure. 14 years in, I'm impressed. Well worth the investment.

Loads of barrel toast on the nose, with a hint of cinnamon. On the palette, the wine is textured, yet rounded, precise and balanced. Tannins are perfectly integrated, but help to enhance the texture in the mouth. Loads of graphite and dark fruits, such as blackberries. This wine made my evening.. Spectacular!

Huge waft of cherry compote, with a touch of white pepper on the nose. This wine is big and burly!

Popped my last bottle tonight, and was a little surprised to note that this wine has already begun its decent. In fairness to the winemaker, this juice was never intended to be cellared for the medium to long-term.

Visually, mild bricking has begun. On the palette, the wine still has sweetness and texture, but the fruit has evolved to become port-like. Plums and prunes are everywhere. I was just about to buy another case, since I saw it on the market, but now, I'm staying away from the 09. I suggest that you do the same! If you have these in your cellars, its time to drink em.

The benefits of buying a case and drinking them over time…

A good wine, but already appears to be on the decline.

Lots of cinnamon on the nose. Overall, fruit has given way to spices. In the glass, very mild "bricking" is apparent.

On the palette, the wine has a good texture and mouthfeel. Not as structured and complex as the 2012, but still very enjoyable. Based on this tasting, if you have stock, drink it now as it's declining, fast!

This is outstanding at this point. I drank this about 3- 4 years ago, and it was excellent then, but it has evolved to a better place now.

The nose is dominated by cola, with a wisp of cinnamon. On the palette, the wine is precise and compact. Excellent mouth-feel. Light on its feet. Dark cherries and cola tease the taste buds. This wine is showing no signs of age. I anticipate that it will stay where it is for another 5 years or so, although I don't think it will get better. Get some.

TC From Santee got it absolutely right. Against my better judgement (based on Cellartracker scores), should have never have invested in this wine. Wine seller from JJB advised me it was good, and I questioned him hard at the time. That won't happen again with them.

This wine is measly, thin and has vegetal aspects to the nose and palette. RM Oakville is normally a go-to for me. This is by far the worst vintage I have tasted from this designation. My remaining bottles will become gifts for my enemies…

I expect more from $12 bottles. Take a wide berth associated with this vintage.

This has still got legs, but don't leave em too much longer. We let it breathe for 45 minutes as it showed mild astringency, initially.

Visually, the wine is showing signs of "bricking" in the glass. On the nose, tobacco and a touch of cedar wood. Blackberries and cherries are still evident. On the palette, the tannins are still in the foreground, but are well integrated. Excellent texture and mouthfeel with exotic spices, but not as plush as we have come to expect from Heirloom. Nearly 14 years on, I am impressed that this has held up so well. Drink these bad-boys up before you lose em!

Superb!

Outstanding nose of candies cherries with a hint of caramel. Slightest visual indication of bricking in the glass, but not detected by other senses.

On the palette, the wine is majestic. Tannins are integrated, but still noticeable. Pure rich black fruits dominate, and the finish just keeps going. It was my only bottle. Enjoyment has now turned to misery..

This wine just goes from strength to strength..

Oodles of cherries and dusty earth come through on the nose.

On the palette, the wine is still rich and dense, with a piercing focus. The traditional mountain fruits (small dark berries) continue to shine through. Sweet dark concentrated fruits persist and evolve. Tannins are still pronounced, but are beginning to submerge. The mouthfeel is perfect. Velvet is descriptor that comes to mind.

No rush to drink this wine. I estimate 10 - 12 years ahead of this point. An excellent example.

A stellar wine..

7 years old and still going strong. The nose is fresh and youthful today. A huge nose of dark precise fruit and valrhona dark chocolate.

In the mouth, the wine jolts you with the tannins. It's still precociously tight, with a broad-shouldered structure. This wine is built for the long-haul and is not going anywhere anytime soon. Huge extended finish. I detect a hint of syrup, although the wine is not sweet in any way. There is a dusty element to the wine, which adds a touch of complexity on the palette.

This is a great napa cab, with easily another 10 years of runway…

A solid pinot, but it did not excite me.

Nose is a little muted, but what does come through is fruity and a touch acidic.

Palette is composed of bing cherries and cola. It presents a good mouthfeel with medium weight. Tannins are completely submerged. It has sweetness on the mid-palette, but the finish is short. Can't remember what I paid for this, but I have found better Cali pinots for the buck. An interesting departure, nonetheless.

FYI - In my opinion, this wine is for immediate consumption, only.

In it's drinking window right now.

The puppy-fat has evaporated. This nose is reminiscent of a classic Bordeaux. Dark plums, olives and barrel smoke prepare you for what is to come. On the palette, the wine is well balanced. Light on it's feet. The typical mocha notes are not evident at this point. A touch of licorice and dark cherries persist.

It's sweet and multi-layered. Excellent now.

Rich opulent nose which is consistent on the palette. Plush mouthfeel with dark fruits and cocoa. Tannins are ripe which creates a lovely texture on the mid palette. A touch pricey, but, still excellent.

I think prior CT scores influenced my score, but the wine is excellent.

The nose is very pleasant with cola, blackberries and a hint of barrel toast.

On the palette, the wine has an excellent mouthfeel. It tastes consistent with the nose, with the slightest hint of baking chocolate. Tannins are ripe and need age to further integrate. Overall, I would describe the wine as precise, clean and textured. An excellent effort, and for me, a winery to watch.

Excellent for the vintage. Smooth, lithe and precise. Nose is accented by vanilla and maple syrup. On the palette, the wine is smooth with young, ripe tannins. Finishes long with rich dark fruit. A napa cab cab at it's best. Will be very interesting to see this wine 5 years from now. This is built to last. No hurry to pop the cork.

Been drinking nothing but cabs and merlot, recently, so this was somewhat of a departure...

Typical burgundy nose of cola, cinnamon and spice box. On the palette the wine is a little tense, yet smooth. Tart cherries are the first experience, but they are not bitter. The texture is smooth and tannins are well integrated. Relatively speaking, this is a sweet pinot. VG is a favorite of mine, so I may be biased. But this is a good wine. Evolved to a better place overnight, which was quite a surprise for me, as, in my opinion, most burgs decompose relatively fast. If you like the French pinot style, I think you will gravitate to this.

Great wine for the price. Single vineyard, too, which is not typically my stitch.

Nice rich, sweet, dense nose. Caramel and dark fruits define the moment.

On the palette, the wine is precise, with maple syrup and tart cherries. Nice finish with well balanced tannins. I think this will evolve to a better place with 1 - 2 years of additional bottle age. But for the money, you cannot go wrong.

Excellent pedigree! Very jammy on the nose, with loads of alcohol (14.9 to be exact).

On the palette, there is loads of smoke and barrel toast. Lots of cinnamon and dark cherries. Tannins are perfectly balanced. Texture is sublime, to die for, actually. Super ripe in terms of mouthfeel and texture. Outstanding wine, which I think I have underrated in terms of the points.

I'm hunting for more, period. :0)

This wine is so consistent, year in, year out. The nose is wonderful and precise. Hints of smoke, fern, cinnamon and black cherries. Really pleasant.

The palette is superb. Tannins are ripe, but not overpowering. Not too sweet. Perfectly balanced with a very slightly tart finish. Not as sweet as the usual PJ merlot, but very pleasing nonetheless.

Should cellar for 5 years or so. Not sure this will evolve to a better place.

Sitting here at Valle Nevado, Chile, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Popped in a wine store in Santiago yesterday. Wanted to try something new, but typical of the country. Chose this.

On the nose, the wine is ripe, with cherry compote, It's clean and multidimensional. On the palette, the texture is smooth. Tannins are evident, but add contours to the wine. Lots of dark fruits such as blackberries, rich plums and cherries. Maybe a hint of coffee, too. The finish is excellent. A very enjoyable bottle that could probably rest for 2 - 3 years and evolve to a better place. However, it's drinking well now.

Very impressed with this showing.

On the nose the wine offers up fresh toast, grapefruit and a hint of nectarine.
Crisp and energetic on the palette. High pitched citrus fruits set the tone, along with honeydew melon. Perfectly balanced in the mouth, no sharp edges and an extended finish. For those of you that like your wines on the slightly sweeter side, this will be in your lane!

Definitely worth another look. This represents excellent value for money, since I paid $15 or so.

I am being stingy, again. This is excellent juice!

Another one of those wines that defies description from a nose perspective. Bold glazed cherries dominate, along with spice box. It's fresh and multi-dimensional, but my vocabulary has left me.

As soon as I tasted it, I immediately went online and purchased more. It's deftly balanced, layered with an excellent sweet tannin structure. Along with the cherries, I taste cinnamon, and maybe a hint of tobacco. The finish is super-long and expansive.

Outstanding value for the money. Scoop some up if you see it!

My notes may be somewhat biased, but wifey and I really enjoyed this wine.

My bias is because I met the winemaker; Dean Sylvester, over dinner at Mustards Grill in May this year. We got into the discussion regarding the glass closure (as I recall, 2009 was the final vintage using this closure). The winemaker told me that the first vintage using this enclosure was 2003. I had to get some. We pulled the glass cork today on a bottle.

11 years on, the wine is still immense. The nose was big. Lots of barrel toast, cherry compote and hints of anise.

On the palette, the wine is broad shouldered with prominent tannins. Although integrated, the tannins are still evident. There is a little heat from the alcohol, even now. Finish is dominated with cherries and graphite, but persists well.

Considering that 2003 was a challenging vintage (due to a warm season), I think this is an excellent example. I have tried many 2003 cabs, and for the most part, I found them impenetrable!

This wine is not for everybody, but we really enjoyed it, along with sipping on a little piece of history.

Ok, you should all be sucking up to me as I first tasted this at the winery. Was so impressed that I scooped up a few bottles.

On the nose, the wine displays candied cherries, light smoke and a hint of spice box. On the palette, the wine shows of spice cake, raspberries, and loads of cherries.

Tannins are already perfectly integrated. The wine is perfectly balanced and drinking well now. Short term cellaring may provide marginal enhancements, but not much, in my mind. Enjoy this wine now!

By the way, if you are ever in Napa, Whitehall Lane is a "must visit" location. The winery portfolio is excellent, and the staff are so friendly and accommodating.

I think other CellarTracker drunkards (and I include myself in this group) have got the notes right.

Personally, I was somewhat jolted by the nose. I thought I had been transported to Dylans candy store (NYC) when I put my nose in the glass. On the palette, the wine is super-sweet, with vanilla wining over the fruit. This is a crowd-pleaser, that in my opinion, won't cellar for too long. Wifey loved it, extravagently lavishing 95 pts on this specimen. However, editorial liberties will prevail tonight!

Cherries and spice box on the palette. Hints of cloves and cinnamon tease the palette. Finish is acceptable, but not anything to write home about. In my mind, a good wine, but somewhat of a "construction site". I anticipated much better, but still good. The 2011 is much better.

This is a prodigious wine!

The nose is extremely well behaved. Defying descriptors, almost.

On the palette, it's textured, layered and velvety. Extremely well structured showing candied cherries and other dark fruits. Deeply extracted, while at the same time, framed by a text-book tannin structure. The finish is so long and just evolves in the mouth. Year in, year out, this wine is a model of consistency. I challenge you to find any average wine within the Caymus portfolio.

I let this breathe for an hour. Heady nose of maple and spices with no signs of gray hair.

On the palette, the mouthfeel is smooth and textured. No bricking in the glass, but I do detect that the wine has begun to decline, but only slightly. Still loads of fruit, predominantly cherries and rich dark berries. Tannins are fully integrated and perfectly balanced. The finish is excellent, and somewhat exotic.

I couldn't wait to open this and my expectations were realized.

On the nose, this wine oozes citrus fruits such as grapefruits and lemons, with a hint of biscuit.

On the palette, its tense, racy and high pitched. Grapefruit is dominant, with maybe a hint of toasted bread. If you like your chards on the zesty side sans butter, this may be the one for you. This wine glides down, and represents an excellent sipper for the summer.

Again, I have tasted several Fantesca wines from various vintages, all excite the palette, without leaving you with a nosebleed at the checkout!

Wow, what an extraordinary wine!

The nose is opulent with pineapples and oodles of heady, candied fruits. The nose is so rich, it made my head spin. In the glass, the wine has a wonderful golden hue.

On the palette, this juice is thick like diesel. It's viscous and envelopes the tongue. Borders on being cloyingly sweet, but does not go there. Wonderful example. Try and find more if you can.
