Smoky brambly nose. Nice cool climate syrah, lacks that depth and concentration but a nice tipple nonetheless.

Solid. Lots of good option for nebbiolo at this price point, vajra and produttori and cavallotto come to mind. Bright and polished.

Taking a break from the pepiere muscadet... Similar but with a touch more weight and some tropical notes.

Classic claret, cigar box, black tea and dark fruits. Great acidity. Love these under the radar chateaus.

Best on day two. Ordered the aligote as it was in my budget, got sent the bourgogne blanc. Talk about upgrade.

Glad to still have a magnum of this left, will have to revisit in 10+ years. Does not show the 09 vintage as much as you'd think. Lots of iron/blood on day one, day two shows a touch of astringency and violets.

Even after being open for 3 days in the fridge, this still has the verve as day 1. Fantastic edge and texture. Love this wine, a case buy if you can.

Dark and brooding, cherries and a hint of cola, has the rusticity of savigny. Tannins could use a few more years.

Spritz. Even on day two. Darker and heavier than past vintages. Hoping this was an off bottle. Diam cork.

From magnum. Needs aeration, much better on day two. Day one, a little flat, seemed on the verge oxidised. Day two, better acidity, white flowers and apricots.
Red
Big and heavy on day 1, then moreso on day 2 and tarry alcohol on day 3. Pass.

Can't imagine paying $25+ for this upon release. Lots of cherry cola and a bit astringent on the finish. Best by the glass while you watch Netflix on a Tuesday night.

Wooha. Smoky nose with just a touch of peat and maybe a tinge of brett. Blackberries and olives, and a liveliness. One of the best northern Rhone values out there.

None of the harsh acidity that a lot of 2011's have.

Coastal Sonoma fruit and it shows. Glad to have them at close out prices.

Hard as nails on day one, even with a few hour decanted. A bit of heat on the finish on day two but tons of dark fruits.

Fruit/Vegetable Wine
Dark golden colour, not sure if it was oxidised or if that is the style. Will hold judgement until I open the next bottle.

Belies it's 14%, light and fresh, almost carbonic in a way. Some spicy fruit and drying tannins on the finish.

From magnum, decanted for 4 hours. Classic St. estephe from an overlooked vintage. Lots of sweet fruit on the attack, some gritty tannins. Wonderfully fresh, nice acidity. Lots of life ahead.

Tight. Needs age or 3 days open. So much tension.

From magnum, cork with seepage on one side half way up. Day one, decanted half, wine seems a bit tired out the gate, possible heat damage. Improves a little over the course of the night. Day two, tannins have outpaced the fruit and the maderization is a little more noticeable. This should have been better considering the format.

Decanted on day one, thin and acidic with too much wood. Poured back into the bottle and on day two, transformed into everything one could want from a basic bourgogne rouge. Bright cherries and tannins with just a touch of grip.

Incredibly light and delicate. my understanding is that the new Conterno ownership will not longer make this bottling.

I kind of like this over the basic pepiere bottling, only problem is finding luneau papin.

Possibly the most acidic red wine I have ever had. Did this not go through malolactic fermentation?

Begins with a fresh Natty nose, decanted and drunk over the course of 4 hours.

Just an acid bomb, not flawed but made in this way makes it even more unpalatable.

Not worthy of the hype or the tariff.

day 1, crunchy and a bit reduced.
day 2, violets, bright red fruit, one of the best value grenache based wines.

Drank over 2 days along with the 2011. Muted nose but a bit Burgundian on the palate. Tannins a touch aggressive despite being open for 2 days, mouthwatering. Again, a humble wine that has the bones to age for a decade.

So much here in such a humble wine. Requires a good decant, then a dusty nose, Alpine nebbiolo fruit, cherries and a touch of mint. Tannins almost resolving with a bit of bitterness. Overall Wonderful value.

One of the great values in wine... Unsure of how the diam cork enclosure will hold up long term, does the winery bottle the library releases from aged cask right before release?

Needs a good decant then it's all Alto nebbiolo. Fine tannins, roses, blood and stewed strawberries.

Whoa damn. Last bottle must have been suffering from severe bottle shock, this one is just hands down watermelon juice. Opens up with reduction, a quick decant will help but the last glass of sediment was the best so go figure. Savory nose with a palate of a bit of grip. Fascinated by the turnaround.

I've always felt that this wine shared more in common with saumur champigny than it does with burgundy. Granted it doesn't have the pyrazines but it reminds me of that wet concrete after a rainstorm in the hot summer.
