Toasted oaky vanilla on nose, something rather like moist molding clay hovering just over glass. Balsamic olives too, and cured meats on nose, giardiniera, maybe crushed/macerated woodsy rosemary?

Palate of dry dusty red fruits, still quite tannic, tannic, even with a half hour's decant. Pomegranate pith? With time and/or more decant, the suggestion of something closer to tart bing cherries. Prickly medium finish, and something quasi peppery, like juniper berries crushed between your teeth.

Little early to drink, but showing promise a few years down. And at $18 a pop, incontrovertible qpr :)

This is one to buy cases of, as a weekday go-to for spicy anything. And only $10?! I think it can be had elsewhere for even less. This is my go-to for street tacos, esp. with green salsa. The low alc and sweetness play off the heat, acidity plays well with the acidity in the salsa without either overwhelming the other, and has enough body to tackle the oiliness. grapefruit flavors played up when paired with citrus in food. an excellent wine from an excellent producer.

Super QPR! brilliant acid to cut through the umami of a pasta puttanesca. smacks of earth in mounds, with dried mentholic herbs, and chocolate covered raisins. medium body with a rustic, cerise palate, with some blueberries too, like in a blueberry juice or berry medley, and a little pencil lead or something metallic. lingering, tannic finish, but softens considerably with an hour's decant. absolutely a food wine. Will buy again.

rounded out but a bit lacking in acid, perhaps drunk a bit late, but still serviceable: jammy (dark reds), maybe a bit of ground coffee and cocoa powder, slight spice on the finish. Indisputably good QPR.

bright acidity to match the sweetness, tart tangerines and white cherries, baking spices, but not whistle-clean. Still, overall a solid buy, great minerality on the nose, good QPR, great with street tacos :)
