My last bottle of an assortment of 24 or so 2005 Burgundies purchased on release.

This one is still going strong at 15 years of age. So much so that after the first taste I decided to decant it.

Tasty, with fruit and forest floor in good balance.

This will pair well with rib roast tonight if we don’t finish it before the roast is ready.

    5/30/20, 9:06 PM - Yes. A good pairing for sure. I am glad to have a few more bottles of this vintage. 2015 however, Was very hard to find and pricey too unfortunately. I only managed to get 2 bottles.

Dark in colour
Losts of promising aroma as this was being decanted
Still some heavy tannin but the fruit is shining through
Nicely paired with Morrocan spiced lamb rack

    About the 2006 Monbousquet, we enjoyed it with a decant over a couple of hours before and during dinner.
    However, if you are waiting for the peak drinking window, I don't think it's there quite yet.
    If I had another I would wait a couple years for sure. Enjoy.

2013 Pewsey Vale Vineyard Eden Valley Riesling
WSET Level 2 Day 2 (WSET): Appearance is clear, pale, lemon colour.
Nose is clean, light intensity, with flavours of citrus fruit - lemon-lime, and a touch of minerality.
Dry style Riesling. High acidity, medium body, with lots of lemon flavour, and I detected a saline minerality. But no one else in the class agreed with me about the minerality. Medium finish.
Quite a nice Aussie Riesling.

Dark garnet colour. Some currant and earth on the nose. This has put on weight in the last 2 years. On the palate there is some dark fruit but more earthy notes are what I notice. On the long finish there is a definite black licorice note. This is still cool from the cellar and should continue to develope as it warms I think. This proved to be a classic match with the herb crusted rack of lamb we had for dinner.

    12/30/13, 1:20 PM - Thanks Harley 1199. There is still plenty of tannin in this to go a few more years for sure. Sadly, this was my last bottle of 2000 and now looking forward to others I have (03,04.0,09,10). I laugh to remember the first vintage that I bought of Poujeaux was 1990 and I drank it all within 5 years. Live and learn, eh? Cheers.
