15th wedding anniversary at home in the time of COVID! Drinking beautifully, great pepper and deep red fruit.

Still wound pretty tight; I will set our remaining bottles aside for at least another year. Much better on the second day - more cohesive, fruit had balanced with the savory. A big wine, with many miles yet to go.

Starting to show signs of age. Dark, almost brick. Layered, nuanced, gorgeous. Drink up

Good after an hour of decanting, excellent after the second hour. Very happy with the price to value ratio here. Layer after layer kept evolving over time, well into the second day.

Still drinking quite nicely, though probably time to drink-up. Give it some time to open up.

Starting to show its age, but still lots of rich, red fruit and rounded tannins.

Easy drinker, lacking that typical Cairanne character, but pleasant and definitely Rhone.

Stunning, absolutely danced in the glass. One of the finest West Coast Pinots we've enjoyed in years. Brought the house down at our dinner party.

Past its prime, oak is dominating... but still a drinkable bottle. Not fab, but good enough for a week night dinner.

Surprisingly good, candied violets and light fruit; not nearly as "spent" as we expected, a nice surprise.

Great value, earthy/fruity nose so typical of Cairanne. A hit with my Rhone-loving friends, plays well above its price point.

Elegant, smooth, showed surprisingly well for its age, with sweet fruit on the palate; previous bottle of the same vintage was dead, so this was a lovely surprise.

Still showing nicely. Chocolate-box nose and sweet plummy fruit, a crowd favorite at our Merlot tasting.

Excellent; a stand-out in a 24-bottle lineup of Merlots. Showing great with pronounced black pepper, savory and dark fruit notes.

For the price, a very decent week-night wine. Round and tasty, but lacking the exceptional Viognier aromatics of pricier bottles.

Sadly past its prime; we've opened 3 bottles in the last 9 months, 2 on the edge of being "dead", and the final bottle not drinkable. Open 'em all if you've got them.

Nose is still gorgeous, but body has lost much of its fruit - if that's important to you. Certainly still a lovely wine, but the 2008 is showing much better right now, with much more brightness and lush fruit.

Sadly past its prime. Soft, still tasty and imminently drinkable with good varietal character, but without the spice and pepper that just sang only a year ago. Hoping this bottle, perhaps, was less than perfect. But will be drinking our remaining bottles quickly.

Drinking perfectly, was the outstanding wine amongst a crowd of fine wines at a recent tasting. Big, rich and savory, what an outstanding value, it plays as much more expensive bottle.

Remarkably fresh, bright fruit. Heavily perfume-y on both the nose & palette. Complex and alive, would never guess it's 11 years old. A winner at large group tasting.

Bone dry, esp for riesling. Almost caustic (in a great way) minerality and acid. Tight, but tasty, we didn't find the typical petrol note. A great palate refresher with complex foods.

Sadly, seems a bit past it's prime, time to drink it up. Really interesting nose of salty/savory - almost tomato soup in the can. Fruit and spice on the palate, but a short, clean finish. Good pairing with Persian lamb kabobs.

Delicious. Opened beautifully in the glass - plum, smoke & earth with a finish that goes on forever. A great hint of spice in the finish. Strawberry notes on the palate made for a great pairing with the pomegranate in a delicious Persian chicken Fesenjoon, as well as a slightly sweet berry/almond/pistachio rice. Hank & Maggie, cheers.

Holy pig-in-a-glass. Layers of pork on the nose; bacon, roasting pork fat. Huge, deep, concentrated wine almost black in color with more grilled flavors on the palate. OTBN 2012
