Dark, opaque, purple-red color. Big, masculine nose of cherries, oak, tar, and herbs. Very firm, assertive palate has some nice fruit, not overly ripe. Nice depth, with the tarry and herbal notes underlining the fruit. Firm tannic backbone holds everything together. Great balance, with just enough acidity. Overall, a great bottle, with self-assured character.

9/29/13, 5:55 PM - IMO, this has at least a few more years left. I had my first bottle 4 years ago, and it's losing some of it's heft, but the fruit is holding up, and it still has good balance. I think it'll become more subtle, but it won't fall apart for quite a while.

Struggled to find it. Perhaps a bad bottle. Monolithic.
