I think this wine is in its plateau of maturity and it’s a well integrated full flavored wine with good concentration, some minerals, and deep plummy fruit.it should still last quite a while.

7/30/18, 11:22 AM - Its been a while but from memory I don't decant that wine but stand it up and give it a half hour of air at least. Typically I like to let a wine open up in the glass unless its so tightly locked that decanting is the only way to drink it that night (often do this with Barolo and similar tannic wines). My take on the Vatican Sixtine is it has buckets of fruit, terroir and tannin but is fairly forward. Your comment suggests your bottles are still pretty tight, maybe a colder cellar?

Balanced wine with good concentration of cranberry and other light red fruit. Good lightness and acidity. This was a bargain on WTSO and I would buy more if it showed up again.

Not sure the score is fair. This is a 90 point wine except for cork taint which doesnt make the wine undrinkable but less than ideal

5/7/13, 8:16 PM - Yes, it should. Other bottles I had were much better.

Very typical of the few 05s I've had. Firm tannins and structure, but good concentration of fruit in balance. This one was very nice, a bit earthy, and representative of Beaune premier cru.

5/7/13, 8:38 AM - Well, I bought mine on release or soon after and stored at about 55 degrees. Opened but did not decant, tasted immediately but started drinking after thirty minutes. Seemed to peak after an hour or so of air. May just be bottle variation, not sure. Good luck with your other bottles.
