Not a fan of CA, Oregon, WA pinot. Generally too syrupy or over oak for my taste. However, this was quite good.

Tried it for a 3rd time over the last couple of days. 2nd day it came around, and was actually quite good. Will finish it tonight (3rd day), let's see. Obviously still needs a couple of years.

Open and decanted about 4 hours before drinking. Definitely a different wine from when 1st opened, and with food even better. Still has a lot of time left. Saddle, burnt cherries, smokey chocolate. A little rough in a good way.

Agree with comment a bit chalky (dry), and certainly not light weight. A little overall "big" for my taste, but I decanted for 2 hours, and made sure the wine was at a good temp. Just a bit cool, not room temp when I started. I with food and patience better than I thought it would be. I'll be a couple more years will also help.

decanted for 3 hours - wine is delicious but still young. Just beginning to get that earthy distinctive thing that a great CNP gets as it ages.

I'm just drinking this now. How the community gives it a drinking window that ended it in 2011 I don't understand. This wine is delicious and still drinking fantastic. I've had 3/4 bottles in the last couple of week just to make sure my first bottle was the lone ranger.

Still has plenty of berries with soft leather and a bit of tobacco. Tannins are soft but still holding together. This is a very drinkable 17 year old wine.

Hard to say what I think about this. There was still a bit of fiz which gave me high hopes. But taste wise it didn't really go anywhere. It wasn't "bad" but also did not have any real character. Traces of what might have once been, but I fear I let this sit in the cellar too long.

Opened and decanted the night before. expected bricking of color. slight hint of alcohol on the nose and first taste, but that disappeared quickly. The next night it was fantastic. Beautiful nose, not too sweat, the right balance of elements. This is grea t50 year old port.

Definite bricking in color, with the accompanying nose and slightly smokey taste of a 15 year old CNP. Did not decant as I was at first afraid it might die. But we had two bottles that were delicious. Quite a bit different from the last time I had this perhaps a year ago.

It went great with our Thanksgiving dinner.

Double decanted, waited additional 2 hours, but that burned off an excess alcohol, and came around nicely. Used wine preserver to keep overnight and it was best 2nd day.

On initial opening wine was still tight with a bit of an edge. Decanted for 2+ hours before we started to drink. That took all of the edge off and the wined warmed up fantastic. inviting chocolate/leather, touch of vanilla/espresso. exactly what you'd expect after 10 years. love this wine.

Great taste of classic Ca Cab. Still has long legs. Decanted and got better through the meal. Great on it's own, but clearly better with food.

Hits of leather an cocoa, still with plenty of fruit.

This wine gets better every time I taste it, whether the '97 vintage which was my first experience, or this '04. And I can't wait to try the 2010 when I can find it. I would think the '04 has at least another 10 years of life left.

Great taste of dark wooded cherries. Best Vino Nobile.

quite nice. not as big and peppery as some Cote Rotie, but appreciate the lower alch level. soft with no hard edges, and the classic dusty, smokey meat and chocolate of aged rhone. Probably time to drink up.

Decanted for about an hour, temp around 67/68. Color deep rich bordeaux. nose of smokey herbs, leather, tobacco, saddle, black cherry. taste - over the 3 hours we drank it all of those elements were there. it continued to develop with the taste getting more complete. Great bottle, fun to drink.

Tried this wine when it first came out and it was a little overwhelming. The years since have been very good to it. loved this wine.

cork came out so easy i was a little nervous at first. But wine looked, smelled, tasted fantastic. still very dark in color, nose came alive after decanting. smooth cherry, cassis, with leather and something, maybe a little chocolate. went great with the onion, sage, sausage and bacon risotto I made.
