Seems young like a 2016 still maintaining its dark colour, nose still closed a monster perfectly balanced sweetness, acidity. Will age indefinitely! What an incredible bottle, WOW!

From a magnum decanted an hour, mature nose of leather, humus, barnyard, red berries, some tannins ending on a silky and lengthy finish. There were no green pepper notes you tend to notice from Sociando’s high usage of Petit Verdot. I have been fortunate to have tried this vintage many times and have noticed a slight decrease in fruit therefore I would suggest to start drinking them. Will hold a decade.

Blind, red cherries, blueberries, cassis, mocha and black tea. Over ripe and too sweet for my taste, too much residual sugar almost feels like pouches of raw sugar were added. Many might enjoy this style but annoying for me. Although this was blind, I still was able to guess Caymus as you can pick this producer out a mile away.

Blind, medium coloured, notes of red cherry. Super ripe, rich, sweet, very long very well made. Solid will hold at least a decade. Label states only 275 cases made.

Blind, red licorice, aneth, herbe de Provence, green olives ending on a slightly acidic finish. Seems like its in its peak drinking window where it will not improve. Some tannins present. Had this a few years ago, this bottle was slightly les impressive which leads me to believe that the wine is on a decline. Drink within 5 years.

Double decanted 4 hrs. The perfume is out of this world. Notes of barnyard, smoke, leather, tar, humus, menthol, rose petals, sandal wood, sweet ripe, fruit still present. Silky smooth. Served blind, everyone thought this was an old-world wine. An amazing achievement for the vintage. Will easily hold another decade.
White
Blind, closed nose, barely any fruit, not much going on here. Seems old and past it's prime. Drink up.
White
Blind, sulfur, gun flint, butane. Lacks ripeness, slightly green. The gas notes are annoying. Priced $49 CAD, I would pass. Drink now.

From a magnum, wine has shed some of its infancy tannins even though that there is still plenty left. Nose has opened with notes of vanilla, mocha, leather and chalk. Very length, paired well with hard cheeses. Still needs time. Try again in 2025, will hold until 2035.

Full body tannic monster that requires another 5 years sleep in a cold seller. Very complex nose, floral, tar, black berries, anise, leather, vanilla, mocha, white peppercorns ending on a lengthy silky finish. Another wine I wished I had bought more of. Will easily hold until 2040+

Blind, opaque, over ripe dark fruits, vanilla dominate. Some menthol. Tannic and slightly bitter. Drinking nicely where it will hold another 5 years.

Brick colour, oxidised, mushrooms, some sweetness, medium body, medicinal notes, past it’s prime. The 1995 was holding on so much better. Can’t believe the 2001 is already past it’s prime, will try another bottle this summer. Drink up.

Blind, tart, medium body, mouth coating richness, vanilla, red berries, floral, slightly dusty tannins, need a few years to soften. Very well made. Will hold 5+ years.

Blind, slight bricking, light body, mostly cherries, basic Pinot notes, underwhelming. Drink now. Once unveiled, we were all in disbelief that this was Littoral Roman vineyard. For $138 CAD, there is so much better out there for half the price. Major disappointment.
White
Blind, third wine in a row tonight with residual CO2, unpleasantly high acid levels with unnoticeable fruit ending on a short and bitter finish. Drink now.
White
Blind, residual CO2, apple cider, mustiness, oxidised, sulfur, high acid with no finish. Pretty disappointing.

Tannic and dark coloured, requiring a year or two of cellaring. Vanilla, oak, black currant and spices are present in this lengthy finish red. A good value. Should easily hold for a decade. Not as profound as their 2009.

Poured immediately after opening. The wine showed significant evolution as it was not stored in a cellar. Barely noticeable cherries were dominated by notes of cigar box and tobacco. Medium body with a harsh finish. Drink up if you own any.

The wine has shut down since my last tasting 2 years ago. This bottle seemed a lot more tannic and closed. Needs a couple of years in the bottle. Something incredible will emerge with patience.

Blind, dark purple, vanilla, every dark fruit imaginable, very long, rich almost thick and chewy. No idea what grape this is but pretty impressive. Enough meat on the bones to hold a decade maybe longer. Label states only 5719 bottles produced clocking in at 13.50% Made exclusively from the 100 year old Castelao grape.

Blind, deep red, ink, tar, cassis, glass staining richness, big wine that requires cellaring. Full bodied with a lengthy finish. Well balanced, silky tannins. Should be great in 5 years and will hold another decade after that. Highly recommended.

Decanted 4 hours, medium ruby with slight brick rim, very aromatic notes of barnyard, cherries, cassis, truffles, mushrooms, peppers, tobacco. Some tannins still present. An amazing complex mix of ripe and unripe notes. Seems like they overachieved in this not so successful left bank vintage. Ready to drink where it will hold another decade. Everyone loved.

Blind, I was slightly underwhelmed by this wine were pros regularly score it in the mid 90’s. Tonight it was an 89 at best. Ruby red with slight orange on the rim, muted nose, full body, ending on a bitter finish with dusty tannins. Will try again in 5 years.

Deep ruby, sweet fruit bomb, jammed with dark fruits, plums, ink, tar and vanilla. I opened this too young, should of waited a couple more years. Ultra rich and unctuous, with a very lengthy, silky finish. Impressive for the vintage and no smoke fire taint which harmed many 2017’s. Will last a decade.

Blind, dark almost inky purple, full bodied and tight, anise, dark fruits, toasty vanilla, tannic, rich and young. An incredible red which still needs another 5 years and will be enjoyable over the following 2 decades. Priced $50CAD, a must buy.

Blind, brick rim, maderized, brown sugar, barnyard, leather coca cola, very sweet on the palate yet ends with a short finish. Unfortunately, past it’s prime. Drink up.

Blind, brick rim, brown sugar, maderized notes. Dusty tannins and astringency are present. Barely any fruit. Not my style. Some will love this style and mention that wine needs to age longer, to me it’s past it’s prime. Perhaps a bad bottle?

Blind, tropical fruits, lychee, smoke, sulfur, cotton candy and crushed stones. Good length and acidity. Clocking in at 13.5% alc. an impressive wine which I would I purchase depending on price. Will hold 5 years.
White - Off-dry
Blind, muted nose, some butane, reminds of a vin nature, ending on a short and acidic finish. Some residual CO2 left. Not my style.

Dark ruby/purple, notes of blueberry pie, vanilla, mocha some oak ending on a medium to full bodied rich and smooth finish. Very well made. Although enjoyable now, I would hold off a couple of years to resolve the tannins. Will hold at least a decade after that.

I honestly had little hope that this was going to be remotely drinkable as I haven’t had much luck with Chateauneuf’s aged more than 10 years. I thought it would be past it’s prime. I was wrong. Still very fresh and ripe, some brick on the rim with silky smooth tannins, some sweetness, tobacco leaf red berry notes, medium body with a never-ending finish. No decanting required; I would push the drinking window further to 2026. Hats off to the Perrin family.
