Disappointing. I sampled this over the course of hours, and gave it plenty of opportunity to open up with air. Apart of a softening of structure over the course of those hours, there was not much improvement. There was no increasing lift to the fruit, nor any increase in fruit sweetness. The result was a consistently tart and dry palate, highlighted by tea, dryness, and some bottom notes of red fruit and forest floor. Cellaring this wine was a waste.

    10/5/14, 1:48 PM - I believe many of these intensely structed wines, many from Volnay & Corton, will require 20+ yrs to come around. While there was some charm early on with this bottling, I feel presently, they are completely shut down. I'm looking forward to the first of my bottles in 10 yrs.

Totally different than my previous bottle last year. This was purchased in the OC. It was sweeter and more like a non descript chunky RRV pinot. I have a few more I got from John, so hopefully it will show that tart cranberry seamless PN I grew to love.

    8/30/13, 9:49 AM - JD - I don't think it was cooked at least in terms of pruney roasted notes. It just wasn't like bottles I bought from John. FWIW_I haven;t had this wine in about 9mos. The btl you brought to H-Bowl was the Nash Mill and was lovely.

    Brig- I'm curious where your btls came from
