Maybe the oak is a little strong as it initially smells strongly of old wood & cigars (and I'm fairly tolerant to oak), but with good depth of fruit & supporting (but unobtrusive acidity). Definitely some mushrooms in the mix and long tannins that give it a very dry finish. Alcohol (14.5%) kept in check much better than a recent Tedeschi Amarone. Following day, possibly better & you just got the feeling this was vinfanticide as all elements seemed in balance even though it was still quite tight.

I think this wine was (like the cheaper Passo Doble) a trial bottling with it's handwritten styled label. Anyway, both are a success and worth looking out for.

Initially closed but in the glass it evolved like a butterfly. The filet mignons with cabernet sauce matched like a borg-connors match. Back and forth each drawing strength from another and coming to an overwhelming ending.

Pre-Christmas Offline (Rotisserie Jules, London): Mid red, quite dense. Cola cubes / rhubard 7 custard nose. reasonable acidity, lighter texture in mouth than expected. Good.

Drank this over several hrs out of a decanter. Simple but well balanced bordeaux. Nose not showing much certainly nothing similar to JS tasting notes from WS. Tannin was still rather tight after 2 hrs, so I will wait to try another after at least 1-year.
Decanted 1/2 an hour in advance.
Deep ruby core, pale ruby rim.
Ripe nose, open from the off, with ripe plums prominent, vanilla, spice and some toasty oak.
A medium + bodied wine with ripe, almost mouth-coating tannins well balanced by plenty of ripe plum fruit with vanilla, lots of spice and a few toasty notes. This really is very ripe and deep for the vintage and has a satisfying, long finish with reasonable balancing acidity.
Very enjoyable indeed, surprisingly ripe, intense and tannic suggesting further improvement is possible with age. Up to another 4-5 years. (237 views)

BBQ PA--gorgeous developing Bordeaux. Nice earthy cedary notes on the nose. Silky on the palate. Not a monster, but a wonderful elegant food wine. (389 views)

Still young. This firm wine, with strong tannins, and a really long finish, it was full of dark fruit, tobacco, and I thinkk a touch of mint. Will wait a while for the next bottle or decant a few hours.

Shows a deep purple color all the way to the rim as well as a very earthy, herbal and tapanade scented nose. This started out fairly green but greatly improved with air to show more dark fruits, minerals, funk and integrated wood notes. Medium bodied with a very enjoyable palate that is balanced, structured and rich. This shows integrated and very subtle tannins on the medium length finish. Actually, fairly impressive and worth checking out if you don't mind the herbal/underbrush slant to the nose.

Solid wine. Awesome violet feel in the mouth, very refiined. Though dark, very tamed tannins with complimentary acids. Earthy with dense sensation with lightens on the finish with the beautiful violet notes. Drinks well now, but will probably get a bit more silky as the dense earthy fruit gives way to secondary notes.

la matière est là, mais cela doit absolument s'arrondir a besoin d'un long carafage (2 heures)

Cabernet Sauvignon + some Malbec in this Gran Reserva. Lovely nose with dark berries, some oak. Dark colour. Great mouthfilling taste with lots of fruit, black currant, a touch of coffee, supple tannins. Unexpectantly good length for the price. No rush to drink up, should hold a couple of years. Unbelievable QPR, one of my favourites. 90-91 points.
1999 Bodega J. & F. Lurton Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Lurton (Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco) 2005-05-04 claudio_bxl
Great 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Lurton Vineyards in the Uco Valley. Nice color showing some red in the rim but still quite young. The nose is quite complex with aromas of cherries, cassis, some graphite, nutmeg and a good deal of chocolate. The wood is very well integrated. In the mouth it is round and quite powerful with a good mid palate and a finish with notes of pepper and some minerality. Very elegant and well done with melted tannins and a good level of acidity, this should keep for a while. Very good and quite Bordeaux in style

Decent enough country table wine, but there's better out there for the price. Pairs well with hearty foods. Worth airing out for a bit, as it opens up over 3-4 after uncorking/decanting. Started out thinking of this around an 80-82 pointer. It opened into a reasonable wine.

I really enjoy this wine for the price, a good French white for the price.

Quite a nice wine! Medium/dark ruby. Nose is gentle with grenadine and red currents, floral overtones. On the finish supple and layered. Moderate acidity and satiny tannins. Could be mistaken for a cote-rotie or even a mid-range burgundy.

Shows nice black cherry, earth and spice notes on the nose. With air it even shows subtle smoke and mocca notes. Medium bodied with a balanced, easy drinking style and a medium finish. Really nice

Splash decanted immediately prior to tasting in reidel O cabernet glass.color is blood/cherry red, with some translucency.Surprisingly open nose of Pepper, Blackberry, and Oregano.Notes of mushroom and earth, much stronger oregano and pepper. Feels very smooth, alcohol well hidden within. Initially feels a little thin, but tannins are really quite firm on the finish, to the point of being overly drying. The "oregano" flavor is very strong and a little disconcerting, but adds some interesting dimensions. Good wine for the price. ready to drink.

1998 Wolf Blass Cabernet Sauvignon Premium Selection (Australia, South Australia) Intense inky purple colour, almost black. Garnet on the rim. Berry, black pepper, wood, and resin aromas. Heavy oak in the mouth, spicy, plum and cherry as well. 15-20 second finish. It didn't seem like anything special, but I think it could benefit from a couple more years in the cellar so the oak can meld better with the fruit. (102 views)

No formal notes taken at consumption. Very rich and generous aromas of currant and black cherry. Soft and juicy with very little structure. Moderate finish.

The bottle had a thin layer of sediment running the length of the bottle. Color is very dark, almost black. Excellent strong aromas. Taste starts off with strong tannins that mellow very quickly to a good dry fruity finish. A hint of black cherry. This wine is definitely ready for consuming now. It may age for the rest of the year, but I can't see it improving much more from sitting in your cellar.

Dark red color, but not particularly deep. Expressive nose showing the hallmarks of burgundy - black cherries, smoke and earth, a hint of wood spice. Very nice and concentrated. Same on the palate, surprising weight and structure on the paalate, but the tannins are thoroughly ripe. A hint of dried herbs thyme and some cinnamon add complexity. Relatively long finish. Thoroughly satisfying wine, especially for the modest price! Can be drunk now, but will surely improve over the medium term as it seems very balanced.

2000 Château Mazeyres (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol) This is a very good, maybe even excellent wine. Dark blood red. I would like to call this wine rural. Is that a way to say it? Soft power, earthy tones, full bodied, nice gentle bitterness. Full and complex. A mouth full of nice wine. Young but very enjoyable. It lacks a little in the aftertaste. Might evolve from a 87 to a 88 or even 89 points wine. I love this type of wine!
