Birth year zinfandel and first bottle of the New Year, unknown provenance. Cork was pulled with the ah-so, was in decent shape. Balsamic vinegar and some mustiness on the nose. Some black fruit and plum flavors with some notes of balsamic, mushroom, and some dustiness. Pleasantly interesting for a wine of this age.

Not my favorite, despite enjoying some others from this producer. Smoke, tart cherry, and still a bit tannic. Will wait on the other syrahs I have from Cabot.

Nice wine. Earth and lots of black and blue fruit on the nose. Blackberry, tobacco, leather, and herbal notes on the palate. A bit past prime for my palate, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Mother's Day wine. Cherry, plum, cocoa, currant, and dried red fruit with a medium long finish. This was very pleasant and enjoyable. Sadly, my last bottle from this vintage.

This was good, but nothing special for me upon initial opening and a bit of air and swirling. Dark, clear, ruby color. Nose of cola, cherry, and mint. Cool mouthfeel with notes of cola, tart red fruit, and spice. Medium finish.

This was just okay. Some melon and strawberry fruit initially and then a short finish with some mineral notes. There is better Northwest rose out there at this price point, in my opinion.

Pale, almost clear white color, but has a hint of white peach. Nose of peach, apple, and a hint of petrol. Loads of ripe fruit flavors of peach, sweet apple, and pineapple. Good acidity to balance everything out. Nice wine for a sunny day.

Day 1 - cool, red fruit with lots of earthy notes
Day 2 - kind of flat, boring, with only hints of the previous day

Tasted as part of our group's monthly blind tasting. Theme was malbec. Dark and glass staining color. Funky nose that was pretty interesting. Earthy notes that weren't very pleasant upon tasting. Disjointed, not fun to drink. Maybe we just don't "get" malbec. Disappointing.

Tart and sour cherry flavors. More tartness than I remembered. Decent acidity to back it up. Medium finish. Not a bad wine, but nothing too memorable either.

Probably should have decanted or opened it earlier in the day. The first pours were quite closed in the first hour or so with dinner. But several hours later, while finishing the bottle and taking our time with the wine, it really opened up. Gamey meat, pepper, olive, some dark fruit. Medium to full bodied and delicious.

Tart flavors, earthiness, dried cherries. Took a bit of swirling and air before these notes came out. Agree that this was probably well past its prime, but still a nice experience.

Cab franc nose comes through. Tannins have softened, but this is still a rich, inky, dark wine. A bit of heat showing, but still enjoyable.

Deep, dark purple with no signs of bricking yet for this 12 year old bottle. I could sniff the nose on this all day - floral notes, dark fruit, and spice. Softened tannins and a rich mouthfeel made this an enjoyable wine with some life still left in it.

Took a day to open up. Too overwhelmingly rich and dense upon initial opening. This will definitely benefit from decanting or more time in the bottle. After a day, it opened up and softened to (still rich) layers of cassis, blackberry, plum and black currant.
