Big nose of smoke and dark notes and white pepper, full palate that opens to rich black cherry and fig with a long finish. High ABV at 15.1% for this varietal. Young now, should hold for a few years to develop. Drink 2019-2023.

Bold Russian River offering by wine maker Kirk Venge. Rich velvet minerality on the nose followed by a bombshell of off dry red and dark fruits. If I was thinking of a plum and dark cherry basket wearing a tuxedo this would be the resulting wine. Higher than normal ABV at 15.1% but plays with this wine. Dry enough for hints of terroir with full bodied richness - a signature of Venge wines. Could cellar easily through 2022.

Had tried the Trefethen Cabernet Oak Knoll and was excited to try the Chardonnay offering. Was not disappointed. Great citrus and melon on the nose with deep apple and caramel traces on the finish. Paired with fresh ono and wasabi glaze and followed that into a cheesecake dessert. Great QPR retail, restaurant consumers may wish to buy the bottle vs glass to reduce heavy wine list mark up which this wine commands.
