2010 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
No formal notes, but this was a delicious entry level Northern Rhone that's drinking quite well right now and has easily 5-10 years to go.

7/3/19, 1:34 PM - £46 in the UK ! It is one of the best Crozes there is . Entry level it is not within the ordinary meaning of the words .

2010 Château de Tiregand Pécharmant Red Bordeaux Blend
Interesting little number from a somewhat obscure region. I first sampled a 2011 at Standard Market, returned to buy more only to be told they were sold out. Then later obtained a "new" vintage that happened to be from the previous year. Go figure. Somewhat in the style of Bordeaux I would venture.

5/21/19, 9:05 AM - Hi I think it is quite easy to figure - 2010 was a much better vintage and has taken longer to come round 2011 was ready beforehand .

Very tight and backward despite giving it a few hours of air. I dont have the conviction to pound the table to say it is going to be a stellar wine even though 15 is an amazing vintage. At least, at this point of evolution, there are much better 15 rhone to buy at lower price, such as Pierre Gonon St. Joseph.

5/12/19, 2:54 PM - Surely this is way too young to drink this wine

Ready, balanced, and pleasant to drink. However, was expecting more fruit and complexity, that didn't show up. Solid 92.

4/29/19, 11:39 AM - Sounds more like way too young than ready to me.

Didn't show much and you can do much better for less $$. Needs time or just overrated?
  • Ardross commented:

    2/18/18, 1:46 AM - Time needed -2013 and 2014 drinking well now.

This is rather good and pretty forward for Pecharmant. This name was apparently once used for a plot given very high rank by Feret but it seems now as if it is being used by Chateau de Tiregand simply for their opening cuvee . It had good fruit and cloud and although there was a hint of the "tran" less than in other examples and a bit more Bdx like -good value
  • Ardross commented:

9/18/17, 12:32 AM - Iron in the soil make up in the Pecharmsnt area which is thought to give structure to the wine

Red
2000 Clos Triguedina Cahors Malbec Blend, Malbec
I have ordered a few cartons for me and my friends mid 2012. We've opened separately at least 6 bottles: all were disappointing, like the wine has passed its time. Taste like "advanced maderisation", has lost its balance and perfume.
  • Ardross commented:

9/11/17, 9:01 AM - Sounds like poor storage to me

Transparent ruby purple, earthy nose that is a bit hot at first, dry and earthy palate with blackberry, wet herbs, hint of a barnyard funk on a medium finish. Not bad just not a style of Malbec we enjoy. Where's the round juicy fruit?
  • Ardross commented:

2/5/17, 3:08 PM - It is Cahors not a varietal Malbec - If you expect round juicy fruit from Cahors you are looking in the wrong place IMHO .
