2017 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes Pinot Noir

A mineral driven nose framing dark red fruit and oak spice. The palate too is darker than most 2017 Burgundies with notes of dark cherry and plum. A strong mineral streak. The palate is concentrated and lively with good acidity but framed with some noticeable wood that will certainly integrate with time.

5/8/21, 11:44 PM - It's definitely enjoyable now but it will be better in 10-15 years. I opened it now because I wanted to get a better feel for the vintage and have other Meo-Camuzet 17s. I would probably hold off if I had lots of other options and wanted to drink the wine at peak.

2000 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia Red Bordeaux Blend

A very enjoyable Sassicaia. Medium garnet. An intense nose of dark fruit like blackcurrant and blackberry with some clove and forest floor. Refreshing acidity and smooth tannins on the palate. Notes of blackcurrant, menthol, leaves and sweet spice.

11/19/16, 4:18 AM - I think it's definitely fine through 2020 - there is still a lot of fruit on both the nose and palate. I'm in no hurry to drink up my remaining bottles.
