Nice stuff but suffered a bit against the Flacianello 09 we tasted side by side. No shame in that but I would spend a bit more for the Flacianello or signifcantly less for "regular" Chianti Classico (e.g. Fontodi's regular bottling).

1/23/14, 9:01 AM - That has been exactly my strategy with Fontodi for many years! Buy lots of the regular Chianti, a few Flaccianello, and skip the Sorbo. the Sorbo is very good, but the Flaccianello is one of the best wines in Italy IMO.

1/28/14, 7:55 AM - I was very lucky to get the '06 Flaccianello in 2010 for a great price when visiting the Fontodi winery. They were sold out of the '06, but said they thought the enoteca/bar in Panzano had some. So I just bought the '07 at the winery (for 48 euros), and went into town. and whaddaya know, at the bar they had the '06 for only 43 Euros! I took as many as could bring back in my luggage. :)
