Classic Monte fine tannins up front right now. Lovely dark red fruit to follow. Good over the next ten years.

Not the 2005 but a really nice cab. With Bryan’s odd shape 12oz NY strip. Dark with not a bit of translucency. Not anything that is bad with 07 Cali. Soft but structured. Drink now

Opened for my 1996 boys Graduation in Boulder. This is in a terrific place. Unfortunately 23 year olds don’t have proper stems but the wine was full of fruit and delicious.

A little spritz ? Secondary fermentation? A good shake to the open bottle and all is good.

Wow when I first started buying this wine it was suggested that it would need 20 years to show its stuff. This bottle is fresh and delicious. I don’t think that it is really showing tertiary flavor but it is a pleasure to drink

Badly oxidized. I bought 6 many years ago and stored them in the cellar. Hopefully just a bad bottle. I will have to try one of my remaining 4 sooner. Hopefully the remaining are not damaged

What a ride this wine has been! After a case and a half I have reached the last couple of bottles. Drinking a bottle a year has allowed me to learn a lot about the evolution of these wines. I believe they are at their best between 7-15 years from vintage date. This bottle was a little tired.

Annual Christmas Dinner at La Folie (La Folie San Francisco): Drank at La Folie Christmas Dinner. Great starter. $100 on the list but defrayed one $50 corkage on the other bottles. Lightest orange/pink. Needed to sit a few minutes to warm and loose some of the exuberant bubbles. Not complex but fresh and not heavy. Went well with the terrific Amuse Bouche. If you haven't been to La Folie go.

Annual Christmas Dinner at La Folie (La Folie San Francisco): Christmas Dinner at La Folie. What a stunning wine!! This has been tempting me for a long time. No Premox and just entering it's prime. It was opened for 30 minutes but not decanted. Light golden translucence. Brilliant nose with no evidence of hazelnut but full of lemon zest and white fruit. Long finish with lots of glycerin. Loved it. 1 left and I hope it is as good, these 2002 have been a little variable but when good -they are great. Perfect foil for Rollands Poached Lobster and Butternut bisque.

Annual Christmas Dinner at La Folie (La Folie San Francisco): Christmas Dinner at La Folie. Great wine, sat in a decanter during the first 2 courses (90 minutes). Dark purple no bricking at all. Lots of forest floor on the nose. Long finish will easily go 5-10 more years. One bottle left. A Christmas treat.

Fizzy with clear secondary fermentation. I put it back in the bottle and gave it a hard shake. This released a huge amount of CO2. After this it was nice Pinot the shaking released a big nose. Sweet red fruit just hard to get past the fizz.
