This still has plenty of time to develop but starting to drink better than it did 2 years ago. Needs plenty of air (like 6 hours) if opening now.

In a really great place right now. I don't think it will get better but showed great after 15 minutes of air (had to blow off the funk) and even better the next day. For rarified reasons, this bottle actually lasted for a third day, and the wine was nearly as good as day 2. I wish I had a half dozen more.

Agree with others, this needs a long decant. Opened and decanted at noon for 7pm dinner and it was just getting to where it needed to be. Nice wine. Still a little upside. Maybe even better in 2 years.

Hard to judge this wine with so little experience with the grape varietals. Interesting for sure. Impossible if blinded. Nose suggests sweet but the dry and bitter flavors tell otherwise. Wild. Weird. Good?

lovely stuff. Sweeter than anticipated. But not your garden variety Sancerre at. all.

Needs a lot more air than the hour it got. Super acidic/high toned and funky (Bretty). Give it lots of air.

This is in fine shape now. Probably will stay on this plateau for a few more years. Drink or hold.

Anyone else have a corked ‘13 BdN? Having had nearly a dozen Ultramarines to date, this was the first corked bottle. Super disappointing way to start Christmas morning. What can you do.

Excellent wine; great producer. Super clean Meursault. Enjoyed with oysters at Restaurant 12 (Ridgewood).

Great wine. Structurally solid. I think this could use a few years, at least one or two to further develop or "come into its own". But great drinking now for sure.

agree with spoochman. This wasn't that great and definitely underperformed its expectations. I want to give it an 89 but I think it's probably a 90.

93 points, excellent with still some upside. Poured from magnum and was a real crowd pleaser. Potential for 94 points I think. Wait another 3 years.

I think the review previous to this one is spot on. Floral, bright acidity, resolved tannin but still some hanging around. Midweight, floral, some wood (cedar is correct) and even some leathery notes. A very nice wine.

Popped the cork and let it open up in the bottle for about 2.5 hours before enjoying with a T-bone off the grill; grilled asparagus with miso butter and home made french fries. Nose was very pretty upon opening, and you could taste the sunny Tuscan summer of '08 very clearly. Velvety, soft tannins made this super easy to drink though seemingly thinner than other vintages of this wine. A great wine for sure but not intended for much in the way of a long cellar life. I only have one '08 and think now is an ideal time to drink it. No upside from here but would probably keep for a little longer. The color started out bright but muddied/browned out at about hour 4.

I think it needs time, at least those in magnums. Five years and I think it will hit its peak...potentially a 91-92. Will keep my remaining mag for at least five more years.

beautiful wine. Decanted for an hour and a half and then put back into bottle uncorked for about another 2 hours. Wine showed nice with plenty of life left. Certainly no rush to drink these. Better with food.

Very nice. Oxidative style yielded bruised apple notes but fresh all the same.

I’d buy again without a doubt. And will seek out other wines from this producer. Very nice

Agree with others that this is in a great place right now. Not the most interesting bottle of Musar but a crowd pleaser nonetheless. Excellent.

Little funky to start so allow about 30 minutes before serving.

Best sip was the last, about 90 mins after opening. Not for those that can’t appreciate the quirkiness of the wine.

Similar experience as @Gnieboer mentions below. It was fine on the nose and though the tannins were nicely resolved, the finish was dry and left more to be desired. Then again, for $40, pretty good QPR. Decanted for 2 hours. Best glass was the last one, as usual.

Much too young. Hide in your cellar for the next few years at least.

Loved this and is drinking brilliantly now. Truly spectacular at the moment. I don't see this improving but I don't think it will fade too quickly either. But I think I'll probably drink my remaining two within the next five years.

This is just starting to show very well - still super fresh. Served blind (vintage only, bottle shape was a giveaway), some thought it was '04 or '05. I have two left and will probably wait at least five years until trying the next one.

Just not very good. Unsure it will ever improve - just doesn't seem to have what it should.

Unfortunately I accidentally brought this instead of the '12 Vaillons to a dinner. Very nice and crisp, but needs 2 years to develop/integrate.

Really interesting wine...almost drinks like a flat, non-dosage champagne. I think this tasted better at the tasting room - so my advice would be to drink young/right away. Fun stuff. Crisp, refreshing. I'll buy again.
Red
Sensing some bottle variation. One was awesome right out of the gate. One was not really good at all and the third opened up (less harsh) after some air (45 mins). Weird wine.

Pretty good showing for two 375mLs purchased at auction for $14 each (vig included!). Can't really go wrong with that. Pencil shavings/graphite, typical notes. Much better/more expressive after 20 mins in the glass. Fun, inexpensive drinker to enjoy with my family, including my grandmother Gloria.

This is the best release yet of this wine. Bravo Michael.

PnP and enjoy. Not sure if I'll be able to keep any stowed away for very long -- so good now.

Inferior to the '96 I had earlier in the month.
This was weird and took forever I blow off whatever was "off" and then only lasted a short while.

Flawed or just weird or young?
