PnP at a restaurant. Was a little oaky at first, but after some time in the glass it balanced out nicely. Medium bodied, with some leather and earthy notes on the finish. Better than the 06 and 07 vintages I have had.

corked, could not get cork out in one piece, shriveled and crumbled into bottle, had to sift out cork to taste it and the sink enjoyed the rest. too bad

S FL WS Group Summer Offline (Market 17 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL): Ripe apple and pear fruit that was very youthful for its age. Medium body and acidity with no petrol notes. Long finish that could of used just a bit more acidity.

8/26/13, 5:50 PM - jsherdc, sorry for the delayed reply. The best way to get in on the fun is to log on to Wine Spectator's forum and check out the Offline section and look for posts from myself (same name there), jcocktosten, jorgerunfast, redknife, and LBJ2XFinalsMVPisclutch who are the biggest posters among the group. That is the way we all got together.

2000 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
Slow-O 3 hours, aerated to decanter 1 hour prior to serving non-blind, and served side-by-side with the 2005 GPL. Dark ruby toward purple, no sign of age. Outstanding typicity on the nose and well-lifted, layered palate. The tannins have a way to go yet, but the depth and purity of the fruit is impressive; each glass was more expressive and more satisfying. Yet another bottle I'll have to source over the coming year. The 05 ended up being my favorite, but not by much; each vintage having something special, unique to offer. highly recommended, drink thru 2025

Ah, the joy of White Bordeaux in the summer!
  • vinole commented:

7/21/13, 5:36 PM - Except that it is white Bordeaux, though it is 100% Sauvignon Blanc just like Sancerre.

S FL WS Group tastes 1988 Bordeaux (and others) (Jupiter, FL): Did not taste as I was distracted by someone handing me a glass of SQN.

4/26/13, 8:57 AM - It was to document the wine at the offline for the benefit of others that attended as it was posted on a wine BB. And BTW, I find your comment equally useless.

Rich coffee and dark chocolate notes. Quite approachabe now but a few years will allow it to show better. Somewhat dry, and not so much obvious fruit, but in a good way. This is big and classy. The '05 has more reach and extension, but this is likely the better value. Glad I have five more and may look for more besides. This seems like an under-the-radar over-achiever.
