Smooth, bricky, drinking very well. Even better the next day so aeration would help if not time to decant.

The 2014 Poplar Grove Winery Syrah - Viognier is a product of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. This wine is described as having a deep garnet color with the alluring scent of cherry pie, black tea, and lavender¹. The taste opens with the flavos of rich toffee, freshly baked pie crust, and cherry preserves. This mdium-bodied wine with bold tannins surprises your palate with bright, sweet flavor and finishes with smooth vanilla and oak¹. It pairs well with a side of pheasant and black currant pâté¹. As for the drinking window, it is not specified¹. Please remember that the drinking window is a suggestion and can vary based on storage conditions and personal preference. Cheers! 🍷

This wine is ok right after you first opens it but actually improves the next day and it has opened up. Decant if you can.

From the winery: Deep purple greets your eyes with the first glance. Bright scents of fig, black currant and caramel emanate from the glass. Gentle decanting encourages opulent tannins to develop. Medium acidity frames flavours of crème brûlèe, sour cherry, raspberry and plum. The medium body delicately extends into a lengthy bramble finish.

From Natalie MacLean: This is an easy-to-love now or later Cabernet Sauvignon from Hester Creek Estate Winery. Savoury on the nose with dark berry, plum and cassis aromas, the wine is dry, medium-plus-bodied with black currant, dark cherry, cedar, nutmeg, clove and earthy flavours lingering with a smoky vanilla finish. Aged 16 months on its lees in French oak barrels, this is an easy-drinking, graceful 100% Cab. Sauv., produced from grapes sourced from select blocks of the estate winery's Golden Mile Bench vineyard. Enjoy with rosemary and garlic rubbed lamb chops from the grill. Tasted November 2022.

FROM THE WINERY: Dark plum in colour, this Wine Club classic, is reminiscent of ripe plum, Bing cherries, and subtle vanilla on the nose. Complex flavours of sandalwood, blueberry, and sage please the taste buds. Long fine tannins and milk chocolate linger on the finish. Aging potential is 8-10 years. Deep purple colour. Nose is much more forward. Wine needs time to open. Sharp on the mouth initially. Drink with high fat foods as it mellows the wine.

Thought it would get better with more air. It didn’t. Borderline corked and we dumped half a bottle.

Smells decent but it the fork seems to have flavored the wine. It isn’t “corked”, but it’s not great. I’m hoping the more it’s open the more it wears off as the nose speaks of hope.

The palate soft with an old world dustiness and is brimming with black fruit, backed rich tannin. Ripe but not overdone. Intriguing flavours add dimension to the flavour profile. There is freshness on the back end that becomes apparent on the finish of good length.

Take note: this is an OK wine on the day. It is an 89-90.
If you wait until the next day it’s opened it is WAY better. It’s much smoother and softer.

Bought as was ranked 94 points at store. My palate disagrees. It’s ok, but not amazing. Do NOT try drinking the day after opening as is TERRIBLE. Drink all on same day opened.

Deep ruby red colour. Nose has hints of berries, undertone of vanilla. Soft on the mouth with well balanced tannins. Needs time to open and suggest decanting for at least a half hour. Long finish to this wine.

Have been waiting for an occasion to open this bottle. However the last few reviews seem to have indicated that it has past its prime. Not true! Colour remains bright and clear. A deep ruby red. Nose still has fresh fruits and a little vanilla. The wine does not disappoint in the mouth. Soft feel with a good balance of tannin. Overall a nice long finish.

Nose has a light spice, pepper and stone. Colour is light and bright. Tannins are light and the finish is smooth. Overall a nice feel in the mouth. A good light wine for a midweek bottle. Could see having this on a summer patio with a nice cheese platter.

This wine is delicious, but if you still have this vintage, drink it. The finish has a slight whiff of cork so I think is rounding the corner. Don’t hold much longer.
