Opened one hour in advance. Aroma of berry fruit and cedar. Rich, slightly tart, flavors of cassis and loam. Tobacco notes in the finish.

Pure flavors, firm backbone, complex, with a classic cabernet profile. As always with IPR, a pure expression of the variety. Perhaps a notch below the Syrah and Zinfandel from the same site, but still amazingly good.

Opened one hour in advance (the cork was a crumbly mess). Fragrant aroma of berry and menthol Rich black fruit flavor which carries through to the finish.

Flawless, as far as it goes, drinking well, one dimensional. If I'm reputedly expected to wait 10+ years before opening a wine, I expect it to have more layers of complexity than I'm finding here. On the other hand, since I had the space to store it, it offers excellent value for what I paid at the time.

Unscrewed and poured. Sharp lichee aroma with floral and metallic notes. Crisp flavors of apricot, minerals. Petrol in the finish. Firm backbone, tart, some complexity. Young, aggressive, vibrant. Has a sharp, metallic texture that I've found in other Aussie riesling. It's not unpleasant, just unusual and unique (in my experience) to Australia.

Sound, enjoyable, interesting. Good value.

Popped and poured. Fragrant black pepper aroma. Tart black fruit and olive flavors. Bacon fat in the finish. Rich flavors, taut backbone, some complexity, very young. Needed a few minutes to round out and develop.

Could easily be mistaken for a Rhone. Great future potential, probably best to leave these alone for a few years.

Day 2: My initial impressions are pretty much confirmed. Rounder, fuller, and lusher than day 1. I definitely will hold this one for a while.

Popped and poured. Unusual aroma of apricot with funky onion notes. Thick flavors of floral honey, sweet pear. Rich peach finish. The backbone is spongy and flavors are disjointed on the front end. That said, it is a sound and enjoyable Sauternes, and very good for the price.

The gestalt is different, but the flavor profile is similar to California petite sirah. Excellent QPR.

Opened one hour in advance. Aroma of red fruit and herbs. Tart flavors of cherry, with black fruit undertones. Chalky finish. Firm acid, fruit is attractive but reticent, good staying power. Decent now, may yet blossom into something wonderful. Best guess is to leave this alone for at least a couple of years and see what happens.

Markedly better than last time. Bottle variation, or what a difference a ~ 2 years make? Either way, this one is excellent.

Very good, but a bit unfocused. It did start to come together with some air time, so would likely have benefited from being opened further in advance or, possibly, some additional age. Very good QPR.

At first I thought this was completely shot. However, revived by air, it rose from its deathbed to deliver a very pleasurable experience. The current CT drinking window ends in 2020, but that's optimistic. If anyone other than me still has one of these buried somewhere, it's time to open it and hope for the best.

No score, as that somehow seems irrelevant at this point, but it is still very good.

Very rustic, with strong tar flavors when first opened but with air time it becomes much smoother and the tar recedes to the background. Beautiful, firm backbone, well integrated, complex. A high toned version of an old fashioned California field blend.
