Popped and poured. Shy aroma of red fruit and earth develops with air. Pure, rich flavors of cassis and plum. Plum and licorice in the slightly sweet finish. On the richer and sweeter side of the pinot spectrum, this has straightforward, linear flavors, a firm backbone, and great staying power. Excellent QPR.

Well structured. Rich, but incredibly nuanced. Simply outstanding.

Popped and poured. Aroma of cassis and a bit of menthol. Intense cherry flavor up front, adds a mix of herbs and cassis on the back end. Beautiful, well structured, firm backbone, some complexity.

I like the wine, but I'm less a fan of the QPR. There's better Oregon pinot out there at this price point, or even less.

Solid backbone, complex, rich and deep flavors, great staying power, outstanding QPR. Best I've ever had from Clos du Tue-Bouef, and I've had many good ones.

Popped and poured. Lemon and tangerine aroma. Saline flavors of citrus, slate. Full, complex finish includes lemon mousse, stone fruit, minerals.

Young and a little shy, but already packed with rich flavors, with an iron backbone (of course) and a vibrant finish. Strong hold.

Opened one hour in advance. Aromas of cassis and clover. Smooth flavors of bitter black fruit, cherry, a bit of tar. Sour cherry and tar in the finish.

Very rustic, with strong tar flavors when first opened but with air time it becomes much smoother and the tar recedes to the background. Beautiful, firm backbone, well integrated, complex. A high toned version of an old fashioned California field blend.

Opened one hour in advance. Complex aromas of citrus, minerals, apricot. Rich, mix of flavors of apricot, minerals, apricot, among others. Apricot and pear dominate the finish. Absolutely classic, and would hold its own in any lineup of the best German dry rieslings.

The current CT drinking window for this wine, ending in 2011, is ridiculous. There is plenty of life left, I just wish I had more.

Hard to describe, and absolutely unique. Almost as if a dry sparkling wine was mixed with a bit of sherry.

Popped and poured. Pear and vanilla aroma. Clean flavors of white fruit. Some tingle and spice in the lingering finish. Bright acidity, lively, simple but nuanced.

An interesting grape variety which I've never come across before. It has it's own unique characteristics, but it's not unlike a good Bordeaux blanc. As I write this the CT drinking window ends in 2018. That is wrong, the wine is still lively and fresh.

There's good stuff in there, but it's completely overwhelmed by runaway VA - quite pronounced at first, receded a bit with air, but still overwhelmed everything else.

Popped and poured. Apricot and honey aroma. Flavors of pear and fresh cut wood. Mineral finish. Overall quite nice, but the woody taste is odd and doesn't integrate well. It's doesn't taste corked (and the closure is a Diam) but I'm assuming some sort of flaw, so no score.

Popped and poured. Cherry, plum aroma. Interesting flavor mix of tart plum, tree bark and a little (non-annoying) bubble gum. Licorice finish. Excessive (for me) sweetness on first opening, but this became better integrated with time. Firm backbone, unusual flavors, decent staying power.

The name is appropriate, I've never had anything quite like this from D&R or anyone else. Quirky, charming, glou-glou. The quirkiness might become less charming after a while, but right now it's a nice change of pace.

Edit: While certainly not as effervescent as one would expect a young sparkling wine to be, this bottle has a good amount of spritz left in it and is doing quite well for a 13 year old. My condolences to those who were not as fortunate.

The current CT drinking window shows 2030-2065. It wouldn't surprise me if this is drinking beautifully in 2065 (though I probably won't be around to find out), but 2030 seems a little conservative as a start date. Regardless, I'm in no hurry to open my remaining bottles.
