12/20/19, 2:07 PM - FYI: the Hermitage wine on Somm In the Bottle was from the Hermitage hill area in northern Rhone, heavy in Syrah. This Epicuria wine is all Mourvedre and from an area much further south near Nimes. The producer happens to be named Chateau l'Emitage, but it is not from the Hermitage area. That said, I'm excited to try this wine. Thanks for the review.
8/28/19, 5:55 PM - I can't believe how opposite are tasting notes are. I drank my first bottle 4 years ago (2015) and rated it an 84, and rated my bottle tonight (2019) at 95, that's how much I feel it improved. Just shows how different tasting experiences can be.
6/18/19, 7:42 PM - Thanks for the tasting note, I still have 2 bottles of this 67 in my cellar. I'm not sure what to do with them. My biggest worry is the lead content in the capsule, which is evident with the slight corrosion on the outside. Did your bottle show any lead corrosion on the capsule?
6/18/19, 7:36 PM - Based on your tasting note I bought 9 bottles of this wine for $7 a bottle, and you are right, it is great value. Love this wine. Thanks for the tip!
3/31/19, 11:34 AM - I've experienced lots of "corked" bottles that had a musty smell or oxidized characteristics to them, but my previous bottle of this 2005 Bellevue was very different, it had a port or madeira like taste to it, almost like it was fortified. I read that this can happen when the wine is overheated. Since multiple people experienced the same anomaly, where some bottles have it and other bottles do not, suggests to me that something happened at the winery or in transport to a large number of bottles. Perhaps pallets of this wine were exposed to heat, such that the outer bottles on each pallet were overheated, but the inner bottles were not.
2/11/19, 6:54 AM - Thanks for these educational comments, I was not familiar with the term Maderized. I drank my 1st 2005 Bellevue in Aug-2016, and it was perfect, that is why I was so shocked at this 2nd bottle, which definitely had a brown color to it, and took on some Madeira like flavors. I have 1 more bottle remaining, so hopefully it is not maderized.
6/6/17, 8:04 PM - Good catch, I corrected now. Thanks!
2/29/16, 8:11 PM - The CT dates say not to "start" drinking this wine until it is 25 years old, but then you have another 70 years to finish your remaining bottles.I sure hope they are correct, but that just seems crazy risky!
2/29/16, 7:33 PM - Perhaps we waited too long on this.
2/16/16, 6:43 PM - "zero fucks"? What is that supposed to mean?
1/11/16, 6:48 PM - Very much agree with your note on this wine. Even after 4 years, it is still an amazing wine.
1/11/16, 6:33 PM - I found that this wine had an amazing squeaky dry tannic-like finish, that lasted a long time in the mouth, perhaps up to 30 seconds.I'm surprised that found that it "doesn't stay that long in mouth".
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
